  • The heat transfer characteristics of confined turbulent slot jet impingement on the flat plate with square rods(turbulence promoter) have been experimentally investigated. The effects of jet Reynolds number (Re=3900, 5800, 7800, 9700), dimensionless slot-to-plate distance(H/B=4, 6, 8) clearance(c) between square rods and the plate, and the length(d) of a side of the square rod were examined. Measurement or heat transfer rate were conducted using naphthalene sublimation technique. When square rods were inserted over the heat transfer surface, heat transfer rate was slightly increased in the wall jet region.

  • The heat transfer characteristics of confined turbulent slot jet impingement on the flat plate with square rods(turbulence promoter) have been experimentally investigated at different nozzle configuration. The effects of jet Reynolds number (Re=3900, 5800, 7800, 9700), dimensionless slot-to-plate distance(H/B=4, 6, 8) and clearance(c) between square rods and the plate were examined. Measurement of heat transfer rate were conducted using naphthalene sublimation technique. When square rods were inserted over the heat transfer surface, heat transfer rate was slightly increased in the wall jet region and the sharp-edged orifice nozzle was heigher than squared orifice nozzle.

Cyclic test of buckling restrained braces composed of square steel rods and steel tube

  • In this study total of six buckling-restrained braces (BRBs) were manufactured using a square steel rod as a load-resisting core member and a hollow steel tube as restrainer to prevent global buckling of the core. The gap between the core and the tube was filled with steel rods as filler material. The performances of the proposed BRB from uniaxial and subassemblage tests were compared with those of the specimens filled with mortar. The test results showed that the performance of the BRB with discontinuous steel rods as filler material was not satisfactory, whereas the BRBs with continuous steel rods as filler material showed good performance when the external tubes were strong enough against buckling. It was observed that the buckling strength of the external tube of the BRBs filled with steel rods needs to be at least twice as high as that of the BRBs filled with mortar to ensure high cumulative plastic deformation of the BRB.

  • This experimental study was earned out to examine the heat transfer characteristics of a 2-dimensional impinging air jet on a flat plate with a set of square rods. The objectives of the study were to investigate the flow and heat transfer characteristics caused by the square rods and to find out the optimum rods arrangement. Experiment was carried out first without using the rods to establish the baseline heat transfer performance. Then, rods of different widths and clearances were installed to cause the turbulence on the fluid flow.

  • 본 논문은 2차원 충돌제트 시스템에서 충돌판이 천이영역에 위치할때, 열전달성능이 감소하는 벽면분류영역의 열전달증진을 목적으로 난류촉진체인 정 4각 로드를 평판전열면 앞에 설치하고 로드와 로드사이의 피치(P)를 40 mm로 고정한 후 로드의 폭(W) 변화(4, 6, 8 mm) 및 로드와 전열면사이의 간극(C) 변화(1, 2, 4, 6 mm)에 따른 유동특성과 열전달특성에 대해 실험을 수행하고, 그 결과를 수치해석과 비교 검토하였다. 또한 로드가 설치되지 않은 경우와 정량적으로 비교하여 충돌제트 시스템에서 난류촉진체를 이용한 열전달증진에 관한 기초적 자료를 제공하고자 한다.

  • 본 연구는 2차원 충돌공기분류계에서 공기의 흐름 방향과 수직이 되게 설치한 평판 전열면 앞에 전열증진을 목적으로 난류촉진체인 정4각 로드군을 설치할때의 유동특성과 전열특성을 실험을 통해서 구명하고, 본 실험범위내에서 로드의 최적 설치조건을 제시하기 위한 실험적 연구이다. 실험은 먼저 로드를 설치하지 않은 평판에서의 전열특성을 밝힌후, 로드를 설치할 경우 로드의 피치가 40mm일때 로드와 전열면사이의 간극 및 로드폭 변화시의 유동특성과 전열 특성을 구명하여 로드를 설치하지 않은 평판과의 전열성능을 비교하였다. 본 실험범위내에서 전열면에 간극을 두고 로드를 설치하면 로드 바로 밑에서의 가속 및 로드에 의한 난류생성과 재부착에 의해 전열성능은 향상되며 로드폭을 변화시킨 경우에는 로드폭이 클수록 로드 바로 밑에서의 가속효과와 로드 직전에 와류의 영향이 크게 작용하여 전열성능이 향상된다.

  • This paper describes the experimental results of a transient impedance characteristics of grounding rods to a square pulse and standard lightning impulse current. The test were performed on single grounding rod($\phi$ 10mm, 1m) and triple-grounding rods( $\phi$ 10mm, 1m) of equilateral triangles with 5m spacing. For measurements of transient impedance, a pulse generator which can produce square wave of 30ns rise time and 20U Pulse duration was designed and fabricated. In the experiment, transient impedance of the grounding systems have been investigated from the recorded potential and current waveforms. The results showed that the value of the transient impedance is quite higher than the stationary resistance, and provide useful information for the value of a grounding system considered transient characteristics under a high frequency condition such as lightning stokes and ground-fault.

  • 본 연구는 2차원 충돌분류계의 포텐셜코어영역(H/B=2)내에서 전열증진을 목적으로 전열면 앞에 폭 6mm인 정 4각 rod군을 설치하고 rod와 전열면간의 간극(C=1, 2, 4, 6mm)과 rod와 rod사이의 피치(P=30, 40, 50mm)를 변화시킬때의 유동특성과 전열특성을 실험적으로 규명하고 rod를 설치하지 않았을 경우와 비교 검토한 것으로 간극변화시에는 C=1mm인 경우가 전열성능이 가장 우수하였으며, rod의 피치(P)를 변화시킨 경우에는 rod가 없는 평판에 비해 각각 약 1.6배의 평균전열증진율이 나타났다.

  • The thermal load is a very important problem to be solved in many industrial systems including the electronic equipment. Impinging Jets have been known to provide a large heat transfer rates on surface for many years. The turbulence enhancement of fluid flow is requested for the efficiency elevation of heat transfer. A study on flow fields by rods attached to the wall surface as a promoter of turbulence enhancement has been carried out. The exact analysis on chracteristics of impinging jet field is requested to obtain the optimum design of the impinging jet system. By visualizing the flow field and processing the high digital image by computer PIV can afford exact data on the velocity vector kinetic energy and turbulence intensity in the complex turbulence field. In this study. three kinds of rod shape such as square. triangle. and semicircle are selected as the turbulence promoter. Nozzle diameters are 10mm. 17mm. and 23mm. And the analysis of the flow characteristics due to the above rods is carried out at Re No. 2.000, 3.000. and 4,000 by PIV measurement. It is clarified that the rod setup is very useful to obtain the turbulence enhancement and the turbulence intensity according to the shapes of rod appears large in order of the shapes of rod such as square 〉 triangle 〉semicircle.
