Optical axis misalignment, which represents the position deviation of the objective lens from the optical axis, is an inevitable assembly error in an optical pick-up. Since the laser power intensity varies with respect to the distance from the optical axis, the misalignment leads to variation of the laser spot power intensity, which is one of the critical factors increasing data bit-error-rate in optical disc drives. In this paper, an auto-adjustment scheme for optical axis alignment is proposed to eliminate the undesirable variation of the laser spot power intensity in optical disc drives. An envelope of the data RF signal is extracted and utilized to detect the optical axis misalignment. Then an adjustment input is added to the driving input of the tracking actuator to shift the objective lens to the optical axis. Finally, the feasibility is verified by experiments.

To optimize the intake flow condition in the heavy-duty LPG SI engine, five different swirl ratios of intake port were investigated experimentally by oil spot method, LDV and single cylinder engine test. The flow characteristics near the piston surface were observed by oil spot method and magnitudes of swirl flow were measured quantatively by LDV method in the steady flow rig. The engine performances of various swirl flow were also tested with the heavy-duty LPG SI single cylinder engine. In the results, high swirl ratio, above $R_s$=2.3, was not suitable to develope a stable flame kernel and to produce high engine performance. Especially it was more serious under lean burn conditions, since turbulence intensity was smaller than bulk flow though those are increased together. These results were also confirmed by LDV measurement and oil spot method. On the contrary, low swirl ratio($R_s$=1.3) is not good to propagate a flame since the turbulence intensity and bulk flow are vanished during compression stroke and low swirl ratio has too weak initial energy for stable combustion. Therefore, the of optimized swirl ratio f3r the heavy-duty LPG engine in this work was found around $R_s$=2.0.
In this study, SPCC cross-tension type specimens produced under various spot welding conditions were tensile and fatigue tested. Decrease of 2 kA in normal current condition of 10 kA caused a large amount of reduction in both static joining strength and fatigue life. And 2 kA increase resulted in increase of static joining strength and an increase in low cycle regime but a decrease in high cycle regime, revealing the fact that fatigue strength rather than static joining strength would be a major factor during design process in view of the body endurance. As a results of estimating the fatigue lifetimes of various types of spot weld specimens. equivalent stress intensity factor is the proper parameter for predicting the lifetimes of various types of specimens. which can be expressed as ${\Delta}K_{eq}(N/nm^{1.5})=11550N^{-0.36}_{f}$.
This paper employed a systematic analysis using a 2-D hybrid special finite element containing an edge crack in order to describe the fracture behavior of spot-welds in automotive structures. The 2-D hybrid special finite element is derived form a mixed formulation with a complex potential function with the description of the singularity of a stress field. The hybrid special finite element containing an edge crack can give a better description of its singularity with only one hybrid element surrounding one crack. The advantage of this special element is that it can greatly simplify the numerical modeling of the spot welds. Some numerical examples demonstrate the validity and versatility of the present analysis method. The lap-shear, lap-tension and angle-clip specimens are analyzed and some useful fracture parameters such as the stress intensity factor and the initial direction of crack growth are obtained simultaneously.
The behavior of fatigue crack growth in the single spot welded joint of zinc galvanized steel sheets was studied experimentally and analytically based on fracture mechanics. Axial tension fatigue tests were carried out with the BSxGAB specimen that the bare plane(GAB) of monogalvanized steel sheet was spot welded to the double thickness bare steel sheet(BS), and with the GAxGAB specimen that the galvanized plane (GA) was spot welded to the equal thickness bare plane (GAB) 1. The relation between maximum stress intensity factor, K sub(max) and the number of cycles to failure, N sub(f) has shown a linear relation on log-log plot in the spot weld of the zinc galvanized steel sheet. 2. The fatigue strength of BSxGAB specimens is about 23% higher than that of GAxGAB specimens at the fatigue strength of $1\times10^6$ cycles. And the fatigue life of BSxGAB specimens at the same load range increases 6~9 times higher than that of GAxGAB specimens. 3. The general tendency at the angle of bending($\theta$) in an applied load has changed rapidly at the initial 20% of its life. After then, it has changed slowly. The change at the angle of bending has increased linearly as the load range increases. 4. It has shown a linear relation between the location ratio of initiation ${\gamma}$ and fatigue life $N_f$ on the semi-log graph paper. Here $\gamma$ means that the crack distance between main crack and sub-crack, 2L is divided by the nugget diameter, 2r. $\gamma=a{\cdot}log N_f+n$ (where a and n are material constant.)
In this paper we suggest two novel methods for an implementation of the spot detection phase in the 2-DE gel image analysis program. The one is the adaptive thresholding method for eliminating noises and the other is the asymmetric diffusion model for spot matching. Remained noises after the preprocessing phase cause the over-segmentation problem by the next segmentation phase. To identify and exclude the over-segmented background regions, il we use a fixed thresholding method that is choosing an intensity value for the threshold, the spots that are invisible by one's human eyes but mean very small amount proteins which have important role in the biological samples could be eliminated. Accordingly we suggest the adaptive thresholding method which comes from an idea that is got on statistical analysis for the prominences of the peaks. There are the Gaussian model and the diffusion model for the spot shape model. The diffusion model is the closer to the real spot shapes than the Gaussian model, but spots have very various and irregular shapes and especially asymmetric formation in x-coordinate and y-coordinate. The reason for irregularity of spot shape is that spots could not be diffused perfectly across gel medium because of the characteristics of 2-DE process. Accordingly we suggest the asymmetric diffusion model for modeling spot shapes. In this paper we present a brief explanation ol the two methods and experimental results.

For the land-cover classification we have usually used imagery of the optical sensors only. But currently a number of the satellite with various sensors are operating and the availability of using the data acquired from them are increasing. SAR sensors, in particular, can produce additional informations on the land-cover which has not been available from optical sensors. On this study, I have applied the SAR Image to the SPOT XS image in the classification procedures, and analysed the classified results. In this procedure I have extracted texture informations from SAR intensity images, then applied both intensity and texture informations. From the accuracy analysis, overall accuracy are increased slightly when the SAR texture was applied. In case of the Built-up class the results showed higher accuracy than those of when only the SPOT XS image was used. From this result I can show that overall accuracy was increased slightly but the spatial distribution of classes was visibly improved.

Changes in biochemical constituents and physiological alteration were studied in various intensities (1-5%, 6-15%, 16-30%, 31-50% and > 50%) of leaf spot (Myrothecium roridum) on mulberry leaves and compared with healthy leaves. Chlorophyll, total soluble sugar and total protein were decreased (P < 0.01), but total phenol increased due to pathogen infection. Changes in biochemical constituents showed significant correlation with intensity of disease. Chlorophyll ($r^2$= 0.92), and protein (($r^2$= 0.83) possessed negative while phenol (($r^2$= 0.61) possessed positive correlation. Photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, moisture content (%) and physiological water use efficiency (pWUE) were decreased, but stomatal resistance increased in the infected leaves. Physiological parameters also possessed significant (P < 0.01) correlation with disease intensity. Photosynthetic rate (($r^2$= 0.96), transpiration rate ($r^2$=0.88), stomatal conductance (($r^2$= = 0.65), physiological water use efficiency (($r^2$= 0.88) and moisture content (r = 0.85) were negatively but stomatal resistance (($r^2$= 0.75) was positively correlated to disease intensities.

The purpose of this paper is to predict the situation of leak in closed space using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The existing system can't monitor the whole He situations with on/off signals. Especially the first stage of data determines the leak spot and intensity is disregarded in gas accidents. To complement these faults, a new prototype of monitoring system is proposed. Ihe system is composed of'sensing systenL data acquisition system computer, and ANN implemented in software and is capable of identifying the leak spot and intensity in closed space. The concentration of gas is measured at the 4 different places. The network has 3 layers that are composed of 4 input Processing Element (PE),24 hidden PEs, md 4 output PEs. The ANN has optimum condition through several experiments and as a consequence the recognition rate of93.75% is achieved finally
To investigate the optimum x-ray tube design for the dental radiology, factors affecting x-ray beam characteristics such as tungsten target thickness and anode angle were evaluated. Another goal of the study was to addresses the anode heel effect and off-axis spectra for different target angles. MCNPX has been utilized to simulate the diagnostic x-ray tube with the aim of predicting optimum target angle and angular distribution of x-ray intensity around the x-ray target. For simulation of x-ray spectra, MCNPX was run in photon and electron using default values for PHYS:P and PHYS:E cards to enable full electron and photon transport. The x-ray tube consists of an evacuated 1 mm alumina envelope containing a tungsten anode embedded in a copper part. The envelope is encased in lead shield with an opening window. MCNPX simulations were run for x-ray tube potentials of 70 kV. A monoenergetic electron source at the distance of 2 cm from the anode surface was considered. The electron beam diameter was 0.3 mm striking on the focal spot. In this work, the optimum thickness of tungsten target was $3{\mu}m$ for the 70 kV electron potential. To determine the angle with the highest photon intensity per initial electron striking on the target, the x-ray intensity per initial electron was calculated for different tungsten target angles. The optimum anode angle based only on x-ray beam flatness was 35 degree. It should be mentioned that there is a considerable trade-off between anode angle which determines the focal spot size and geometric penumbra. The optimized thickness of a target material was calculated to maximize the x-ray intensity produced from a tungsten target materials for a 70 keV electron energy. Our results also showed that the anode angle has an influencing effect on heel effect and beam intensity across the beam.
