The Necessity of Sports Leadership for Business Leaders

  • Purpose - Sports leadership is frequently used as a useful comparison for understanding traits like teamwork and motivation in the business world. Based on the results of numerous studies, this research provides a critical assessment of the current state of knowledge in sport leadership research using methodological advances from other disciplines such as business and economics Research design, Data, and methodology - This research selected the systematic review analysis as its research design. The review analysis is a minimal set of elements for reporting in reviews by evidence. The present author included numerical data with confidence ranges for the most crucial outcomes if the review contained meta-analyses. Result - According to a study in sports, transformational leadership has a positive effect on company success. Communication and commitment, two possible mediators, may strengthen the impact of transformational leadership on cohesiveness. Prior researchers found that intrinsic drive serves as a bridge between transformational leadership and performance. Conclusion - This research concludes that the articles used for data analysis in this study examined the value of sports leadership for business leaders in a number of sports, including athletics and handball, among others. There is a good chance that different sports will provide different insights on the value of sports leadership for CEOs.

Sports Leadership Theories for Improving Retail Service Quality on Customer Value

  • Purpose: The sports leadership theories are crucial in ensuring the success of corporations. This study shall discuss the various leadership theories employed in the sports industry and how they can be incorporated within the retailing sector to enhance the service quality and promote substantial customer value towards all the consumers visiting the retailing stores. Research design, data and methodology: The present researcher gathered textual data on potential solutions for coding of development through web searching method and coded and produced various topics as solution providers. Methods were then established to enhance quality on customer value by the leadership within their businesses, and the researcher subsequently presented the findings. Results: This study provides a total of nine solutions which are helpful systemically for practitioners in the retailer service sector. These numerous solutions can be incorporated within the retail industry through the sports leadership theories employed in the sports industry to help achieve a full and strong customer value. Conclusions: Finally, the present study concludes that the retail industry and management need to ensure that a substantial customer value is built through high-quality services rendered towards the clientele base, employing sports leadership theories such as path-goal, authentic leadership, transformation, situational and leader-member exchange theories.

  • Purpose: This study seeks to address the following research questions: (1) What are the fundamental principles of sports psychology that can be applied to business leadership? (2) How can these principles enhance business leadership effectiveness? As a result, the study may evaluate the necessity and benefits of incorporating sports psychology principles into business leadership practices. Research design, data and methodology: The data collection process in this study involved a systematic Literature review approach, following the prior literature analysis guidelines by numerous past studies. This methodical approach to selecting articles can be useful in synthesizing existing literature and can be referred to as Literature review and selection. Results: The literature analysis has indicated that there is much support for assumptions underpinning business leadership modules, which can be enhanced by applying sports psychology. This topic discusses the traits of self-positivity and mental toughness, goal perspective and interpersonal relationships within a team, and visualization in a sporting organization that can be implemented in business management to support organizational performance. Conclusions: All in all, it can be concluded that organizations must consider adopting Sports Psychology principles into their Leadership Development Programs.   • To identify the relationship between leadership, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction of sports instructor for elderly, this study conducted a research on 199 exercise sports instructors for elderly working at 6 sports centers located in 6 regions of Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon from April 1, 2019 to April 30, 2019. The research results were as follows. First, the leadership of sports instructor for elderly had a significant influence on the organizational commitment. Secondly, the leadership of sports instructor for elderly had a significant influence on the job satisfaction. Above results showed that leadership of sports instructor for elderly is an important factor that enhances organizational commitment and job satisfaction. Thus, it is necessary to provide leadership education on sports instructors to develop upright character and capability. This would result in promoting elderly's participation in sports for all, enhancing pleasure, and continuing healthy life in old age. Furthermore, the role of such sports instructors would enhance the quality of life for elderly.

  • Purpose: The present research encircled on a systematic view of leadership in sports, an area that can be used to boost the skilling of employees. Four specific managerial development tools have been formulated during this research based on relevant materials studied in the previous section. Research design, data and methodology: This research used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) standards to systematically search for, screen, and synthesize relevant past research on using sports leadership principles for team member development. Results: The findings in this research offer four staff leadership development program ideas that are unique and beneficial for firms looking to foster the development of strong leaders. By deploying sport-based principles and methodology, these approaches can solve the limitations of conventional leadership development programs. This will demonstrate how each plan can help HR managers develop the appropriate strategies for their companies. Conclusions: In sum, this research suggests that by incorporating time-honored principles of sports leadership, these models will provide HR managers with an excellent arsenal of tools for developing a generation of leaders endowed with the skills, mindset, and resilience required to ensure the organization's prosperity under the most adverse conditions.

  • To examine the influence of senior sports instructors' transformation leadership on organizational performance, job engagement, and innovative behavior, this study conducted a survey on 236 senior sports instructors at 6 sports centers and senior sports centers in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and Incheon regions. The results were as follows. First, transformational leadership of senior sports instructors had a significant influence on all sub-factors of organizational performance. Second, transformational leadership of senior sports instructors had a significant influence on all sub-factors of job engagement. Third, transformational leadership had a significant influence on the innovative behavior. This study holds significance in verifying the senior sports instructors' transformation leadership as an important variable for enhancing organizational performance, job engagement, and innovative behavior of group members and proving transformational leadership's positive influence on the work environment of group members.

  • This paper investigates different types of leadership found in foreign coaches in charge of the Korean national soccer team. To that end, news articles published during the tenure of those coaches were crawled for analysis. The analysis highlighted the following results. First, successful sports leaders showed their own specific types of leadership. Second, failed sports leaders showed specific types of leadership. The findings have the following implications. The leadership established based on the analysis results have practical implications in that they suggest the types of effectiveness leadership that are required of sports leaders in managing and leading athletes whilst generating tangible results and performance.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the relationship among servant leadership, empowerment and sports satisfaction of badminton coaches by self-leadership. Among national badminton players, total 343 copies of data were collected and used at the study by using of random sampling. The normal distribution on data and the validity and reliability for each factors were proven to confirm through descriptive statistics, exploratory & confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analysis with SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 program. The relationship among each factors by the purpose of study were analyzed by correlation analysis and structural model analysis. The results were as follows. First, the servant leadership of badminton coaches had positive effect on empowerment. Second, the servant leadership of badminton coaches had positive effect on self-leadership. Third, the servant leadership of badminton coaches had positive effect on sports satisfaction. Fourth, empowerment had positive effect on sports satisfaction. Fifth, self-leadership had positive effect on sports satisfaction. Sixth, for the relationship between servant leadership and sports satisfaction, empowerment and self-leadership had indirect effects.

The Impact of Coach Leadership Type on Exercise of College Athletes

  • Purpose: Prior literature posits that leadership of coach influences athletes' performance via delegate interactions. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the type of instructor on the exercise stress of university athletes and to provide instructors with informative coaching methods especially for their leadership. Research design, data, and methodology: In order to achieve the purpose of the research, Seoul and Gyeonggi Province Materials University athletes were selected as a sample, 360 college athletes participated in the survey and data were screened and finally 314 were analyzed. The collected data were analyzed via descriptive analysis and multiple regressions. To examine the validity and reliability of the survey items, factor analysis and Cronbach's α were computed. Results: Coaches' leadership types are found to influence university athletes' exercise stress significantly. In specific, transformational leadership negatively influences teaching Complaints. Transformational leadership also negatively influences time constraints. However, transformational and transactional leadership do not have any effect on career concerns. transformational and transactional leadership also do not influence functional instability of college athletes. Conclusions: Overall, leadership types of coach partially influence exercise stress of athletes. These findings posit that transformational leadership contribute in developing reliable relationship between athletes and instructors. Further implications were discussed.

Differences in the coach's leadership, exercise participation motivation and exercise satisfaction perceived by participants in living sports (생활체육 참여자들이 지각한 지도자의 리더십, 운동참여 동기 및 운동만족의 차이)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in coach's leadership, exercise participation motive, and exercise satisfaction according to the demographic characteristics of participants in living sports. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, 194 members(men and women) who have participated regularly in living sports at sports centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province were selected as a population, and data were collected by using the scales of leadership, exercise participation motivation, and exercise satisfaction, and then the statistical analysis was performed accordingly. The results of analysis were as follows; first, there were significant differences in leadership, exercise participation motive, and exercise satisfaction according to the gender of the participants in living sports(Willks' Lambda=.864, F=.886, p<.05). Second, there were significant differences in leadership, exercise participation motive, and exercise satisfaction according to the age of the participants in living sports(Willks' Lambda=.706, F=.453, p<.01). Third, there were differences in leadership, exercise participation motive, and exercise satisfaction according to the number of exercise participation of living sports participants(Willks' Lambda=.915, F=.704, p<.01). In conclusion, if differentiated instruction is done in the field of living sports according to the demographic characteristics of participants, it will have positive effects on the practice and exercise satisfaction.
