A Methodology to Produce Light Pollution Map and Diagnose Urban Nightlight Conditions Using International Space Station Nighttime Image Data (국제 우주정거장 촬영 야간 이미지 데이터를 활용한 빛지도 제작과 빛공해 진단기법)

  • Recently, light pollution has become a serious environment issue caused by excessive uses of artificial light. Central and local governments have made efforts to manage light pollution and mitigate light pollution damages. Developing methods to diagnose light pollution is critical to effectively monitor light pollution conditions in Seoul. This study develops a methodology to create a map that presents the status of light pollution in Seoul, using International Space Station(ISS) night-time images. Through the map, we evaluated the areas that show high levels of light intensity and found out local characteristics of light intensity; Commercial area, office building concentrated area, and large sports facilities. The result of study provides basic understanding to present a new way for monitoring light pollution in urban sites.

  • Virtual reality is actively applied in the fields of games, entertainment, communication, sports, and architecture. In particular, many virtual reality-based education systems are being developed in the field of education, creating efficient learning effects. In addition, virtual reality-based education is used in areas such as maintenance, fighter control, medical care, and firefighting as it can maximize the educational effect through the mastery process of the function itself through the curriculum as well as indirect experiences of dangerous situations that are difficult to experience. However, due to technical limitations, lack of contents, and lack of theoretical research, the level of application of military education and training is still insufficient. This paper aim to contribute to the development of a virtual reality-based education system as a military training system by developing a high-quality drop training system applicable to military group descent training, studying key technologies and implementation methods necessary for development.

An Analysis of the Hyperlinks of Internet Newspaper Sites: Focused on Chosun.com and the Washington Post (인터넷신문 섹션별 뉴스기사 본문의 하이퍼링크에 대한 분석: 조선닷컴과 워싱턴포스트를 중심으로)

  • This study analyzed the characteristics of hyperlink service from news articles in chosun.com and washington Post sites. The study showed that the Washington Post revealed many hyperlink-related elements and an increase in interactivity while Chosun.com was not established consistent hyperlink service. Also, this study analyzed news distribution based on genre, as a result, the life section was occupied the highest proportion with 32.4% for Chosun.com, while the news sections were evenly distributed for the Washington Post. Finally, as a result of classifying the linked words into 3 categories(Informational, navigational, and transactional), the highest contents category in both Chosun.com and Washington Post turned out to be informational words. Theses results can be used to develop and provide the effective link service of news articles in internet newspaper sites.

The System of Arresting Wanted Vehicles for Violent Crimes for Public Safety (국민안전을 위한 강력범죄 수배차량 검거시스템)

  • The final goal of this study is to develop a system that can analyze whether a wanted vehicle is a criminal vehicle from images collected from black boxes, smartphones, CCTVs, and so on. Data collection was collected using a self-developed black box. The used data in this study has used a total of 83,753 cases such as the eight vehicle types(truck, RV, passenger car, van, SUV, bus, sports car, electric vehicle) and 434 vehicle models. As a result of vehicle recognition using YOLO v5, mAP was found to be 80%. As a result of identifying the vehicle model with ReXNet using the self-developed black box, the accuracy was found to be 99%. The result was verified by surveying field police officers. These results suggest that improving the accuracy of data labeling helps to improve vehicle recognition performance.

  • UHD (Ultra High Definition) has been developed and standardized over the past few years and considered as a key of the next generation broadcasting. Since major sporting events that attract many viewers have been good opportunities for applying and promoting new broadcasting technology, KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) has carried out live 4K terrestrial broadcasting of three big sports events in 2014, the KBL (Korean Basketball League) finals, the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. Especially, 4K UHD live coverage of the KBL finals was the world's first live 4K terrestrial broadcasting, and people could enjoy the World Cup and the Asian Games with UHDTV at home. In this paper, the overall live production and data transmission of the sporting events is described, including on-location live production, live HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) encoding, SFN (Single Frequency Network) transmission, as well as experimental IP transmission of uncompressed 4K video via KREONET, a national R&D network run by KISTI (Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information).

  • Customized medical care and services timely providing effective prevention and treatment by collecting and using individuals' biomedical data are recently possible and utilized for users' health care. They are developed as the real-time health care services and information is provided to individuals by using smart phones, PC, tablet, etc. Interactive communication is supported by informing managers of analysis data and results, through collected data. It is therefore the time for constructing health care. This study attempts to prepare for patent applications of technical development at this time, by analyzing the tendency of smart wearable health care technologies, including biological signal-based health care devices and real-time health care system. Patents regarding smart wearable health care technologies were reported to have the relatively higher concentration of research development. Korea focuses on patent activities for real-time health care systems across the intervals of analysis, while U.S and European countries actively make efforts for patent activities regarding health care devices Japan conduct patent activities across health care devices and systems, based on bio-technologies. Korea has recently dominated the market of patents for bio-technologies-based health care devices and real-time health care devices and also appears to secure patents for the technologies and the market, so entry barriers to the market of smart wearable health care technologies are determined to be higher in Korea. It is important to establish the portfolios of patents, by securing patent rights for the figures of products, manufacturing methods and other related technical systems, if technologies are planned to be commercialized.

A Study on the Social Perception of Jiu-Jitsu Using Big data Analysis (빅데이터 분석을 활용한 주짓수의 사회적 인식 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore development plans by analyzing social interests and perceptions of jiu-jitsu using big data analysis. Network analysis, centrality analysis, and CONCOR analysis were conducted by collecting data for the last 10 years of major domestic portal sites. First, 'judo' was found to be the most important related word in network analysis, and 'judo' was also an important word in the analysis of dgree centrality. In the closeness centrality analysis, "defender" was the most important word, and "sports" was the most important word in betweenness centrality. Finally, as a result of CONCOR analysis, four clusters (related sports and marketing, jiu-jitsu competitions, belt test, supplies and expenses) were formed. As a conclusion of the study, first, words such as 'judo', 'exercise', 'competition', 'dobok', 'gym', and 'graduation' should be actively used to promote jiu-jitsu.As a conclusion of the study, first, words such as 'judo', 'exercise', 'contest', 'dobok', 'gym', and 'graduation' should be actively used to promote jiu-jitsu. Second, it is necessary to share information on training costs through various routes, to make awareness of the graduation process or method common, and to develop safety products and create a safe training culture. Development of Smart Healthcare Wear System for Acquiring Vital Signs and Monitoring Personal Health (생체신호 습득과 건강 모니터링을 위한 스마트 헬스케어 의복 개발)

  • Recently, the wearable computing technology with bio-sensors has been rapidly developed and utilized in various areas such as personal health, care-giving for senior citizens who live alone, and sports activities. In particular, the wearable computing equipment to measure vital signs by means of digital yarns and bio sensors is noticeable. The wearable computing devices help users monitor and manage their health in their daily lives through the customized healthcare service. In this paper, we suggest a system for monitoring and analyzing vital signs utilizing smart healthcare clothing with bio-sensors. Vital signs that can be continuously acquired from the clothing is well-known as unstructured data. The amount of data is huge, and they are perceived as the big data. Vital sings are stored by Hadoop Distributed File System(HDFS), and one can build data warehouse for analyzing them in HDFS. We provide health monitoring system based on vital sings that are acquired by biosensors in smart healthcare clothing. We implemented a big data platform which provides health monitoring service to visualize and monitor clinical information and physical activities performed by the users.

  • A community center is situated near the residential areas and is the public facility that acts as the core of local cultural activities. A community center, as the general cultural activities increases, is transforming into a facility that promotes the community restoration and living convenience such as welfare, sports, art activities, and education etc. beyond location of simple leisurely activities. This study considers local residents' accessibility through the renovation of preexisting community center.

The Effectiveness of CRM Approach in Improving the Profitability of Korea Professional Baseball Industry Measured by Entropy of ID3 Decision Tree Algorithm

  • Korea professional baseball industry has grown to take the lion's share of the domestic sports industry, but still does not make break even. The purpose of this study is to examine the financial impact of adopting the Customer Relation Management (CRM) approach on the profitability of Korea professional baseball industry. We use a measuring tool called entropy used in ID3 decision tree algorithm. In the paper, we specify five the most important factors that affect spectator satisfaction based on the previous literature, perform survey analysis, calculate entropy values, and find the results. We predicted the change in revenues when we adopt CRM by checking the spectators' willingness to pay more when the conditions of each factor are improved. We find that we can reap significant fruits of the effect of CRM introduction through enhancing 'game content factor' and 'game promotion factor' among the five factors. We also find that we can increase the revenues of domestic professional baseball teams to 2.4 times or 2.1 times the current level if we manage intensively those two factors respectively. It is very surprising to see that the improvement in total revenues makes both ends meet for domestic professional baseball teams. This clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of CRM approach in improving the profitability of organizations.
