The very problem we are to touch in this study is that our own types of urban housing complex are isolated from the existing residential environment. The closed and self-completing structures of past urban housing complexes didn't develop the communal spirit and it has increased anti-city trends. With all that, this study intends to provide some materials to reform our urban housing environment through analyzing former European examples on the basis of the development of our own urban housing types which will correspond with existing urban structure and urban tissue.
In this study, to study the aesthetic properties of the Italy fashion, the internal fashion contents are defined according to the cultural characteristics of Italy and based on the definition, the external features are investigated. The cultural characteristic was analyzed based on the reference literatures on the Italy culture. The aesthetical properties of the contemporary Italy fashion can be analyzed as follows: ${\cdot}$ Functionalism is a feature showing the Italian cultural environment where the genuine humanism is retained. It enables the practical designs by applying details and materials that wouldn't put a limit to the movement of the human body. ${\cdot}$ Naturalism focuses on the natural beauty of the human body without any artificial forms or exaggerated ornaments. Natural texture or materials are used to express the human body itself, or to emphasize the natural aesthetic effects flowing with the human body. ${\cdot}$ Localism is the expression of folk spirit affected by the natural environment. It expresses local atmosphere by unique craftsmanship in material, pattern, color and details. Based on this result, the aesthetic properties of the contemporary France fashion, examined through ${\Iceil}$A Cultural Approach to the Aesthetic Characteristic of the 20th Century French Fashion${\rfloor}$ and those of the contemporary Italy fashion are compared.
Objectives : Provides research basis on steaming processing method (SPM) as described in literatures 'Roegongpojaron', 'Pojadaebub', and 'Susajinam'. Methods : The following issues were considered for current investigation regarding herbal drugs: (i) categorizing SPM-applied drugs, (ii) protocols on the use of the supporting materials, (iii) kind of supporting materials, (iv) processing periods, (v) part of the herb plants, (vi) herbal efficacy, (vii) intrinsic properties and tastes of the herbal drugs, (viii) meridian tropism of the herbal drugs. Result : The number of herbal drugs was 70 species from 'Roegongpojaron', 73 from 'Pojadaebub', and 66 from 'Susajinam'. The abundance of supporting materials was in the order of alcohol, honey and tofu. The herbal parts of the roots, stem, fruit, and seed were most widely used. Based on herbal efficacy, a drug supplementing invigoration was used most, and a drug eliminating heat followed next. Based on four spirit features, herbs showing warm, cold, and mild features were used. In considering five tastes, herbs showing bitter and sweet tastes were used most. In considering meridian tropism, herbs converging to liver and kidneys were used, and drugs converging to 'Samcho, and gallbladder were not used. Conclusion : The present survey on SPM as described in 'Roegongpojaron', Pojadaebub', and 'Susajinam' indicates that there is a principal specialty on the use of supporting materials, steaming periods, steaming parts and efficacy.
Vyshyvanka, the embroidered folk costume shirt of Ukraine, originated during the early reign of the Slavs, and currently, it is also called Ukrainian embroidery. In cases of Vyshyvanka embroidery expressed in apparel elements, it is necessary to research formative characteristics for expanding the visual aspect through the diversification of techniques, but also the aspect of the psychological meaning to Ukrainians. This study aims to consider Vyshyvanka as a unique embroidery technique, and also analyze the formative characteristics expressed in apparel elements. The study of Vyshyvanka embroidery expressed in apparel elements can present meaning to understanding the Ukrainian fashion. The image materials for the analysis of Vyshyvanka design, included work photos contained in literary materials and foreign online visual materials. The results of formatively analyzing the Vyshyvanka embroidery expressed in apparel are as follows. First, the Vyshyvanka embroidery expressed in apparel elements held an incantatory meaning, protecting wearers from getting easily invaded by evil spirits. Second, the Vyshyvanka patterns utilized symbolism that implied the incantatory meaning. Third, a single color was used for the embroidery. Lastly, materials like cotton, that are easy to embroider, were mostly used. The formative characteristics of Vyshyvanka embroidery expressed in apparel elements implied the community spirit, nature worship, and folk beliefs. As an attempt to understand the Ukrainian fashion, this study is significant in the aspect of expanding, widely utilizing, and expanding the range of understanding of Ukrainian fashion. Therefore, there should be more active researches on Ukrainian fashion, so Vyshyvanka can be more widely used as a design element.
In this study, we developed the teaching methods using manipulative materials to teach regular polytopes, and applied these to first-year student of middle school who is attending the extra math class. In that class, we focused on the change of the mathematical representations -especially verval, visual and symbolic representations- and mathematical behavioral. By analyzing characterstics the students' work sheets, we obtained affirmative results as follows. First, manipulative materials played an important role on drawing a development figure of regular polyhtopes describing the verval representation definition of regular polytopes. Second, classes utilizing manipulative materials changed students verbalism level of representations the definition of regular polytopes. For example, in the first class about 60% of students are in the $0{\sim}2$ vervalism level, but in the third class, about 65% of students are in the $6{\sim}7$ level. Third, classes utilizing manipulative materials improved visual representation about development figure. After experiences making several development figures about regular octahedron directly, and discussion, students found out key points to be considered for draws development figure and this helped to draw development figures about other regular polytopes. Fourth, students were unaccustomed to make symbolic representations of regular polytopes. But, they obtained same improvement in symbolic representations, so in fifth the class some students try to make symbol about something in common of whole regular polytopes. Fifth, after the classes, we have significant differences in the students, especially behavioral characteristics in II items such as mind that want to study own fitness, interest, attachment, spirit of inquiry, continuously mathematics posthumously. This means that classes using manipulative materials. Specially, 'mind that want to study mathematics continuously' showed the biggest difference, and it may give positive influence to inculcates mathematics studying volition while suitable practical use of manipulative materials. To conclude, classes using manipulative materials may help students enhance the verbal, visual representation, and gestates symbol representation. Also, the class using manipulative materials may give positive influence in some part of mathematical behavioral characteristic. Therefore, if we use manipulative materials properly in the class, we have more positive effects on the students cognitive perspect and behavioral cteristics.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the relations between the conditions of the flaws and the types of damage according to the characteristics of housing, and then to provide with some basic data for the construction of houses of good quality. The effective analytic data for this research are 558 of all 700 questionnaires gathered through distribution collection and personal interviews conducted from June 22, 1992 Through to July 6, towards the first occupants in apartment houses, tenement houses, multidetached houses, multifamily houses and detached houses that last 10 years after construction, located in Seoul and Kyungki-Do. Our major findings are as under:1) Our data reveal that the ratio of flaw occurrence by general type breaks down into noise 53.7%, crack 39.3%, dew condensation 36.9%, windows and doors 36.6%, structure and frame 35.3%, built-in materials 33.3%, the inferiority of equipments/facilities 29.0%, ill drainage 22.0%, and the leakage of water 19.3% average number of flaw occurrence, multi detached house is the highest as 13.7, apartment house 10.5, tenement house 10.5, detached house 10.51 and multifamily house 8.7.3) As regards the degree of flaw occurrence, the flaw of noise is as serious in the degree of occurence as it is high in the ratio of occurrence. Particularly, the following contrastive phenomena are found: multidetached house is normal (2.0) in the degree of occurrence but it is high in the ratio of occurrence: while multifamily house is 2.9 in the degree of occurrence but it is low in the ratio of occurrence.4) In view of the relations between the types of flaws and those of damage, the flaw type which significantly influences on the injury of spirit and health is built-in materials; the flaw types that have considerable effect on the damage of house and home life are the inferiority of equipments/facilities, due condensation, and inferior windows and doors; and the flaw types that have a bad influence over the reliance on the constructors are the inferiority of equipments/facilities, due condensation and built-in materials.
The purpose of this study was to investigate lifestyle of male college students and their preference of casual wear style. A questionnaire consisted of 60 lifestyle items, 1 casual wear style-preference question and demographic variables was developed. Data were collected from questionnaires distributed to male college students of 7 universities located in the Daegu${\cdot}$Gyeongbuk area during August 2003. After eliminating incomplete questionnaires, 303 were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, and $x^2-test$. As a result of factor analysis on lifestyle items, 8 factors were determined: consumption and fashion orientation, future preparation, social concern, a wide range of thought and experience, health orientation, independent spirit, masculinity, and family orientation. 4 groups were identified on the basis of these 8 factors and named as active pragmatic group, liberal empirical group, prospective self-supporting group, and social accommodative group. Their component ratio were $30.2\%,\;33.2\%,\;19.6\%,\;and\;16.9\%$ respectively. The most preferred casual wear style by male college students was determined as basic casual wear, followed by adult casual wear, fashionable casual wear, and sporty casual wear. Other than the most preferred style, basic casual wear, by every group, the preference of casual wear styles differed among 4 lifestyle groups.
This study intended to analyze the grunge look as a mode of expression and as a characteristic of the fashion of the 21st century, arguing that the look expressed not only an outward appearance or sub-culture but also a change in our attitude and spirit about contemporary fashion. In the study, I carried out an empirical analysis focused on the collection from 2001S/S to 2010F/W and a literature review. In my results, I classified the grunge look into the following categories: 1. mix and match layering; 2. patchwork, collages, and assemblage using all objects as well as clothing materials; and 3. distressing techniques, such as bleaching and dyeing, unweaving, and tears and holes. I also classified the characteristics of grunge into the following categories: 1. conspicuous destitution, which is intentionally expressed by skillful techniques and craftsmanship, indicating that modern people want to attract attention and be distinguished from others, which reflects an attitude of superiority through ironic fashion choices; 2. high lighting the dissolution of decoration, where destruction, poverty and recombination shown in the grunge look emerged as an artificial and intentional ugly aesthetic in contrast to the existing elegant and sophisticated image; and 3. satire and playfulness, as grunge expresses alienation and conflict in modern society through satire and sarcasm, not attacking or avoiding, but through playful and sarcastic engagement so as to decrease poverty and give temporary freedom.
This study analyzed the factors of change of women's underwear in the Renaissance, which had a sudden change of shape. First, the spirit of the Renaissance was focused on human-attached importance to glamorous beauty of the body and pursued the glamorous well-proportioned figure as the ideal of the human body. This expressed a woman's beautiful curved lines by reduction of their waist size and emphasis of breast and hip lines. It also created and emphasized one's physical figure, which is a characteristic of sex. Also the materials and size of underwear cleared up the classification of class. Second, through the development of weaving techniques, more textiles were produced, from linen, the most common material used, to silk in underwear and stomacher, and chemise, which was made more splendid be devising elaborate embroidery techniques. Third, as we know that the farthingale was devised in Spain and transmitted to France because of the prevalence of printing and trade, where it changed and developed to more convenient style, this shows that information interchange was active, and we can see the phenomenon that it is developing continually through the prevalence of printing and trade.
Art Nouveau style refers to the movement of art which was started in France and Belgium in the last decade of the 19th and the early years of the 20th century. The distinguishing characteristics of Art Nouveau style are the sensous sinuosity of its line, nervously undulating, curving over itself, rhythmical, flowing in endless patterns, which are inspired by animals and plants, specially by flowers, leaves, long stalks. The Art Nouveau style includes also the extreme simplicity of form, and asymmetric design. This new trend of art movement spread into architecture, furniture, wall papers, graphic design, accessories and textiles. In this paper, I tried to find out whether or not the Art Nouveau style had an effect on clothing. Because I believe clothing, like architecture, painting, and sculpture, is an Art form that derives from a particular set of cultural circumstances and reflects the needs and aspirations of the society for which it is created. Fashions in clothing over the last five thousand years have mirrorred the art form as well as the spirit. The result of this study shows that the Art Nouveau style made a lasting contribution to the modernism of clothing as well as architecture and interior design at the end of 19th century and the early years of the 20th century. The modernism of clothing appeared in the straight silhouette, asymmetric design, simple and light trimming, embroidery with Art Nouveau pattern, and stylized flower design in textile. Art Nouveau made a great contribution toward the modern clothing to have its liveliness and its harmonious relationship between clothing design and the use of materials.
