Purpose: Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is a condition defined as pain and dysfunction of temporomandibular joints and masticatory muscles. Abnormal interconnections between temporomandibular muscles and cervical spine structures can cause the changes of postural alignment and balance ability. The aim of this study was to investigate changes in static balance ability in subjects with painrelated TMD. Methods: This study conducted on 25 subjects with TMD and 25 control subjects with no TMD. Pressure pain thresholds (PPTs) of the masseter and temporalis muscles were measured using a pressure algometer. Static balance ability was assessed during one leg standing using an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor. During balance task, the IMU sensors measured motion and transfer movement data for center of mass (COM) motion, ankle sway and hip sway. Results: PPTs of masseter and temporalis muscles were significantly lower in the TMD group than in the control group (p<0.05). One leg standing, hip sway, and COM sway results were significantly greater in the TMD group (p<0.05), but ankle sways were not different between group. Conclusion: We suggest pain-related TMD is positively related to reduced PPTs of masticatory muscles and to static balance ability. These results should be considered together with global body posture when evaluating or treating pain-related TMD.

The purpose of this study is to report the patients with common peroneal nerve palsy, who improved by motion style treatment.(M.S.T.) The clinical study on 2 case of patients with herniation of nucleus pulposus, L4-5, L5-S1 combined foot drop, who had been hospitalized in Ja-Seng Oriental Hospital. We checked the motor grade and subjective improvement at interval of 3days under the treatment of M.S.T. After 2-3 weeks of treatment, the movement and power of ankle joint improved to nearly normal range. The subjective improvement was 70% compared with Rt. ankle and range of active motion increased from Gr.1-2 to Gr.4

A head-neck complex dummy, for measuring brain pressure and reaction force in the cervical spine was developed for experimental study related in injury mechanism. Dummy comprised aluminium-casted head with water filled cavity for simulating brain and mechanical neck assembled with six motion segments. Several kinds of experiments (compression, bending, cyclic modulus, relaxation and constant velocity profile) for the developed mechanical neck showed that this neck model is biomechanically reliable compared with in-vitro test results. As an application of developed head-neck complex dummy, shock absorbing properties of protective helmet was chosen. The experiments showed that the maximum pressure increment of brain after impact was tolerable compared with the guide line for mild brain injury pressure (25psi). Constrast to this results, the reaction force in the neck was high enough to produce failure in the cervical spine.

Objectives : The Purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical application of conservative treatment including quadratus lumborum MST for lumbar HIVD(Herniated Intervertebral Disc) with sacralization. Methods : We used acupunture, herbal acupuncture, herbal medicine, Quadratus Lumborum MST for this patient. This patient received hospital treatment for 25 days. Results : After conservative treatment, the patient's pain was controlled and NRS score was decreased. ODI and ROM also were improved. Conclusions : Oriental conservative treatment including quadratus lumborum MST has a positive effect to control pain of lumbar HIVD(Herniated Intervertebral Disc) with sacralization.

Objectives : The aim of this study was to report the improvements in pain that a woman experienced after receiving Korean medicine treatments for the pain associated with core decompression surgery due to avascular necrosis (AVN) of both femur heads. Methods : The patient was diagnosed as having AVN in both femur heads and underwent core decompression surgery. After operation, she had pain on her right inguinal region and her range of motion (ROM) was restricted. She was treated with Korean medicine including, herbal medicine, acupuncture, Chuna Manual Therapy and bee venom acupuncture (BV). This study was measured by using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and the ROM scale. Results : After conservative treatment, the patient's pain was reduced and ROM was increased. Daily living quality had improved. Conclusions : In this case, Korean conservative medicine therapy with Chuna Manual Therapy had a positive effect on the symptoms after core decompression surgery due to avascular necrosis of the femur head.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to access the taping treatment in patients with sports injury of knee. Methods : Three patients were treated by taping to evaluate the effect of the treatment. The patient's symptoms were assessed by range of motion(ROM), verbal numerical rating scale(VNRS), knee injury and osteoarthritis outcome score(KOOS) and physical examinations. Results : In all case, the pain was reduced according to VNRS score. ROM and KOOS of two cases were improved. Conclusion : These results suggest that taping might be an effective method to treat patients with sports injury of knee. But, it's necessary to have more observations and experiment with taping.

Objective : We had good effects on two patients who had problem with temporomandibular joint by using upper cervical manipulation combined with acupuncture therapy. Methods : Two temporomandibular disorder cases were managed by using upper cervical manipulation, combined with acupuncture therapy. We used Toggle-recoil technique for the purpose of upper cervical manipulation. Results :Even though symptoms of two patients were not same, each cases showed clinical changes by using upper cervical manipulation. Two cases had effects on decreasing pain of temporomandibular joint, and at the first case, the range of motion of temporomandibular joint was increased. Conclusion : We could treat temporomandibular disorder patients by using upper cervical manipulation combined with acupuncture therapy.

Methods: In order to alleviate shoulder pain and neck stiffness, the patient was treated by acupuncture therapy, herbal medicine, phamacopucture, cervical traction technique of Chuna treatment and conservative managements. To evaluate the effect of the treatment, Recovery rate of Hirabayashi, VAS(Visual Anlaogue Scale), NDI and ROM(Range of Motion) were used. Lhermitte's sign, Valsalva test, Distraction test, Compression test and Spurling test were carried out. Results: VAS, NDI and ROM were improved and Recovery rate was 100%. Conclusions: Korean Treatment can be effectively used for a patient with Cervical Myelopathy. Further clinical studies are needed to verify the findings.

Methods : In order to alleviate left shoulder pain and neck stiffness, the patient was treated by acupuncture therapy, herbal medicine, distilled herbal injection, cervical traction technique of Chuna treatment and conservative managements. To evaluate the effect of the treatment, Recovery rate of Hirabayashi, VAS(Visual Anlaogue Scale), NDI and ROM(Range of Motion) were used. Lhermitte's sign, Valsalva test, Distraction test, Compression test and Spurling test were carried out. Results : VAS, NDI and ROM were improved and Recovery rate was 100%. Conclusions : Korean Treatment can be effectively used for a patient with Cervical Spinal Stenosis with OPLL. Further clinical studies are needed to verify the findings.
