Organic solar cells have attracted much interest due to the potential advantage of the lightness, simple solution processing and flexibility. Until recently, the focus of organic solar cells research has been on optimization of material processing to improve the power conversion efficiency. However, area scaling is an important position for alternative to the market dominating solar cells. Spray deposition technologies have advantage of less material wastage and possibility of large scale photoactive area coating when compared with spin coating process. We investigated the performance of organic solar cells as a function of active area using two types of deposition process. The commonly used process is spin coating which can be fabricated organic materials deposition for devices. Spray deposition process compare with spin coating for large-area organic solar cells. The spray deposition organic layer shows excellent performance up to the active area of $4\;cm^2$ with the PCE of ~3.0 % under AM.1.5 simulated illumination with an intensity of $100mW/cm^2$. This indicates that the spray deposition process can be used as a mass production process for evaluating large-area organic solar cells.
We have studied the magnetization in fields up to 1T at 5K, the saturation magnetization dependence on temperature and the temperature dependence of AC-susceptibility at very low fields (5mOe to 50mOe) of glassy $Fe_{91-x}Zr_{7}B_{2}Ni_{x}$ (x = 0, 5, 10, 15) alloys. The temperature dependence of the magnetization follows the predictions of spin wave excitations with long wavelengths. At zero Ni concentration there is a clear competition between ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions giving rise to spin-glass behaviour. The addition of Ni drastically modifies the magnetic properties: the antiferromagnetic exchange coupling is reduced and finally disappears, the spin wave stiffness increases from 39.5 to $87.3\;meV{\AA}^{2}$ and To increases from 230 K to 478 K. We develop a simple model to quantify the competing interactions and to relate the antiferromagnetically coupled Fe moments to the Ni concentration. We find that the initial susceptibility increases with increasing Ni content along with a decrease of the temperature dependence.

Engine test as well as unload test of starting motor itself was performed to evaluate the braking characteristics of starting system used for initial spin-up of gas turbine for power generation. Through the experimental evaluation of the braking performance with the capacity of braking resistor of the starting motor, we have achieved quantitative data to secure robust braking characteristics in emergency during the starting period of the gas turbine. It is possible to establish a capacity selection criterion of braking resistor to ensure the starting reliability of the gas turbine.
This study is to look into the spin-off ventures which was incorporated based on the technology developed by public research institute, but underwent difficulties confronted during the development stages focused on the growth process and the factors contributed to their success. The case study was conducted with i-Sense Co., Ltd. which is a ventures organized by professors as a form of research based spin-off venture. i-Sense Co., Ltd. is a new-technology based ventures to produce self-tester for blood sugar level which was incorporated by Prof. Cha, Keun-sik and Prof. Nam, Hak-hyun of Department of Chemistry in Kwangwoon University along with the graduate course students of the Research Laboratory of the University. The two professors operated the Chemical Sensor Research Center at the Kwangwoon University where they produced many preliminary research outputs related with bio-sensors. They also executed the service works at the specialized company they established for research development to make research fund. They established i-Sense Co., Ltd. with the aim to carry out the research they want to. But contrary to the initial intention of the founders of the company, i-Sense Co., Ltd. has grown up as manufacturing company which produces and sells the self-tester for blood sugar level and is expected to be listed by Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the KOSDAQ in 2008. This study is to analyze the foundation and the growth process of i-Sense Co., Ltd. as successful research based spin-off ventures, to find out the factors contributed to their success by enabling them to overcome the difficulties experienced during the growth process, and eventually to provide with suggestive meanings in policy and practical point of view that leaded the research based spin-off ventures to success.
The temperature-dependent saturation magnetization curves of amorphous $Fe_{80-x}Co_xB_{20}$ (8 ${\le}$ x ${\le}$ 40, the step of x is 8) alloys were measured using a vibrating sample magnetometer from 77 K up to 1000 K. Curie temperature and the Bloch coefficient were estimated from the saturation magnetization curves. The low temperature dependence of magnetization is in good agreement with Bloch relation, $M_s(T)$=$M_s(O)$ (1-$BT^{3/2}$ - ${\cdots}.$). The spin wave stiffness constant, tne range of the exchange interaction, and the probable atomic spin were calculated from the saturation magnetization values.
X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) has been used as an important tool of magnetics due to its unique abilities to measure element-specific magnetic properties and to separate the orbital and the spin magnetic moments. These abilities allow researchers to access the microscopic origin of the magnetic properties of transition metal and rare earth compounds. In this report, I explain the principle of XMCD and the experimental set-up. Recent a few research examples using XMCD will be also introduced.
We study the pseudo-synchronous orbital motion of a binary system on the main sequence. The equations of the pseudo-synchronous orbit are derived up to $O(e^4)$ where e is the eccentricy of the orbit. We integrate the equations to present their solutions. The theoretical results are applied to the evolution of the orbit and spin of the binary star Y Cygni, which has a current eccentricity of $e_0\;=\;0.142$. We tabulate our numerical results for the evolution of the orbit and spin per century. The numerical results for the semi-major axes and rotational angular velocities in the evolutional time scales of three stages (synchronization, circularization, and collapse time scale) are also tabulated. Synchronization is achieved in about $5{\times}10^3\;years$ followed by circularization lasting about $1{\times}10^5\;years$ before decaying in $2{\times}10^5\;years$.
The temperature dependent saturation magnetization curve of amorphous Fe67 Co18B14Si1, alloy was measured using a SQUID magnetometer and vibrating sample magnetometer from 5 K up to 800 K. Inelastic neutron neutron scattering measurements also have been used to study the long wavelength spin dynamics of this high Tc amorphous ferromagnetic alloy. The magnon dispersion curve exhibit the conventional quadratic relationship E = D (T) q2 + $\Delta$, typical of an iso=obtained from a low temperature magnetization curve, which was consistent with the value obtained from the analysis oif inelastic neutron scattering data after consideration of its temperature dependence.

Antimony doped tin oxyde thin films have been deposited by sol-gel method using non-alkoxide precursor SnCl$_2$$.$2H$_2$O as host and SbC1$_3$ as dopant material. Using spin coating method, thin films of thickness up to 200nm have been uniformly deposited on Corning 1737F non-alkali glass substrates. Effect of Sb doping concentration and heat treatment on electrical and optical properties was investigated. Heat treatment was performed at the temperature from 350$^{\circ}C$ to 650$^{\circ}C$ in flowing O$_2$. The resulting ATO films showed widely changing electrical resistivity and optical transmittance values in the visible spectrum depending on the composition and firing condition.
Parahydrogen induced hyperpolarization (PHIP) technique is extensively studied to increase the sensitivity of the conventional NMR spectroscopy and recently try to apply this advanced technique into the revolutionary future of the MRI. The other hyperpolarization technique, which is widely utilized, is DNP (Dynamic Nuclear Polarization)-based hyperpolarization one. Despite its great advances in these fields, it contains several drawbacks to overcome: fast relaxation time, expensive equipment is needed, long build-up time is required (several hours), and batch scale material is hyperpolarized. To overcome all those limitations, one can effectively harness the hyperpolarized spin state of parahydrogen. One important step for utilizing the spin state of parahydrogen is doing well-developed experiments of ALTADENA and PASADENA. Based on those concepts, we successfully obtain the hydrogenation signals of ALTADENA and PASADENA from styrene by using benchtop NMR spectrometer. Also those signals were conceptually analyzed and confirmed with different mechanisms. To our best knowledge, those experiments using 1.4T (benchtop NMR) is the first reported one. Considering these experiments, we hope that parahydrogen-based hyperpolarization transfer studies in NMR/MRI will be broadened in Korea in the future.
