CFD를 이용한 패들교반속도에 따른 속도경사 및 총물질전달시간 산정 (Evaluation of Local Velocity Gradient and Total Mass transfer Time at Various Rotating Velocity by Using Computational Fluid Dynamics)

  • Velocity gradient, G, a measure of the average velocity gradient in the fluid has been applied for complete mixing of chemicals in mechanical mixing devices. G values were calculated by the power input transferred to fluid in turbulent and transient range. Chemical reactions occur so fast that total mass transfer time required for even distribution of the chemicals determine the overall reaction time. The total mass transfer time is composed of the time for complete mixing through the reactor and for diffusion of the chemicals into the eddy. Complete mixing time was calculated by CFD (computer fluid dynamics) and evaluated by tracer tests in 2 liter jars at different rotating speeds. Turbulent range, Reynolds number above 10,000 in regular 2 liter jars occurred at revolution speed above 100 rpm (revolution per minute), while laminar range occurred at revolution speed below 10 rpm. A typical range of rotating speed used in jar tests for water and wastewater treatment was between 10 and 300 rpm, which covered both transient and turbulent range. G values supplied from a commercial jar test apparatus showed big difference from those calculated with power number specially in turbulent range. Diffusion time through eddy decreased 1.5 power-law of rotating speed. Complete mixing time determined by pumping number decreased increases in rotating speed. Total mass transfer time, finally, decreases as rotating speed increases, and it becomes 1 sec at rotating speed of 1,000 rpm. Complete mixing times evaluated from tracer tests showed higher than those calculated by power number at higher rotating speed. Complete mixing times, however, calculated by CFD showed similar to those of experimentally evaluated ones.

  • In this paper, a noncontact type torque meter using silicone rubber to measure the exact torque value and reduce a vibration and a noise, was developed. When planetary gear speed reducer runs, torque, RPM etc.. of motor change according to load or speed change. So, it needs a device to detect load's change or to diagnose the state of thewhole drive department by monitoring these result values. The noncontact type torque meter using silicone rubber that we're trying to develop this time is low-cost and can measure RPM and torque value simply. Also, it caculate a power using this value and indicate them on screen.

Improvement of prediction methods of power increase in regular head waves using calm-water and resistance tests in waves

  • This paper applies load variation method to predict speed-power-rpm relationship along with propulsive performances in regular head waves, and to derive overload factors (ITTC, 2018). 'Calm-water tests' and 'resistance test in waves' are used. The modified overload factors are proposed taking non-linearity into consideration, and applied to the direct powering, and resistance and thrust identity method. These indirect methods are evaluated through comparing the speed-power-rpm relationships with those obtained from the resistance and self-propulsion tests in calm water and in waves. The objective ship is KVLCC2. The load variation method predicts well the speed-power-rpm relationship and propulsion performances in waves. The direct powering method with modified overload factors also predicts well. The resistance and thrust identity method with modified overload factor predicts with a little difference. The direct powering method with overload factors predicts with a relatively larger difference.

원심펌프에서 회전수 및 유량변화가 운전특성에 미치는 영향 (A Study on the Effects of Rotation Rate and Flow Rate on the Operating Characteristics in Centrifugal Pump)

  • 본 논문은 규정 유량, 양정, 회전수 및 비속도가 각각 0.7 ㎥/min, 8 m, 1750 rpm, 182 m, ㎥/min, rpm인 원심펌프의 운전시 펌프의 회전수와 유량의 변화가 펌프의 운전특성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 실험에 사용된 펌프는 안내깃이 없고 외주에 바로 접하여 와류실이 있는 볼류트 펌프를 회전수 1350 rpm에서 1750 rpm까지 100 rpm씩의 회전수 변화 5단계에 따른 H-Q특성, L-Q특성, 𝜂-Q특성 등의 관계와 무차원 성능 특성인 양정계수, 동력계수, 효율 등의 특성을 실험을 통하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 회전수의 증가에 따라 펌프 성능의 변화정도를 추정할 수 있고, 펌프의 최대효율은 1450 rpm일 때 유량 0.165 ㎥/min, 양정 4.73 m에서 약 52%, 최대 회전수인 1750 rpm일 때 유량 0.183 ㎥/min, 양정 6.72 m에서 약 50%의 효율이 나타난다. 또한 양정 대 유량의 성능 특성 곡선상에서 등효율 곡선은 펌프의 상사법칙에 따른 원점을 지나는 2차식의 곡선으로 나타나지 않고 타원형으로 변형되어 나타난다. 마지막으로 유량계수가 증가함에 따라 동력계수는 증가하고 양정계수는 감소하며, 유량계수가 0.08일 때 최대효율 52% 되는 것을 통해 유량변화가 운전특성에 미치는 영향을 알 수 있다.

  • Foil gas bearing is a noncontact bearing operated by coupled interaction between hydrodynamic pressure of viscous fluid and elastic deformation of foil structure. It has valuable advantages, such as low power loss, long life, oilless environment and low vibration, over conventional bearings for the high speed applications. A high speed BLDC motor adopting the foil bearing has been developed. It is designed to have 38㎾ power at 100,000 RPM for a cryogenic cooler whose operating fluid is neon. In this paper, structural development details especially for the foil gas bearing and rotordynamics are presented.

  • Turbo generator system need starter for gas turbine engine. Turbo generator has high rate gearbox for reduce rotating speed. Because a conventional generator could not operate same speed of gas turbine engine. But Recently turbo generator system is directly connected a gas turbine engine with a super high-speed generator. In this paper, starter driver are implemented direct coupled turbo generator system, Which is directly connected 100kW, 60,000rpm gas turbine engine and 25kW 60,000rpm super high speed generator.

스핀 코팅 공정에 따른 액정디스플레이용 폴리이미드 배향막 특성 분석 (Effect of Spin Coating Speed on Characteristics of Polyimide Alignment Layer for Liquid Crystal Display)

  • The field of liquid crystal display (LCD) is constantly in the spotlight and the process of depositing an alignment layer in the LCD manufacturing process is very important to obtain excellent performance such as low-power driving and high-speed response to improve LCD performance. Therefore, research on liquid crystal (LC) alignment is being actively conducted. When manufacturing LCD, it is necessary to consider the effect of the alignment layer thickness as one of the factors affecting various LCD performances. In addition, previous studies confirmed the LC alignment characteristics correlate with the rotation speed in the spin coating process. Therefore, the electro-optical properties of the LCD were investigated by manufacturing a polyimide alignment layer by varying the rotation speed in the spin coating process in this study. It was confirmed that the thickness of the polyimide alignment layer was controlled according to the spin coating conditions. The average transmittances of anti-parallel LC cells at the spin coating speed of 2,500 rpm and 3,000 rpm are about 60%, which indicates that the LC cell has relatively higher performance. At the spin coating speed of 3,000 rpm, the voltage-transmittance curve of twisted nematic (TN) LC cell was below 1.5 V, which means that the TN LC cell operated at a low power. In addition, high-speed operating characteristics were confirmed with a response time of less than 30 ms. From these derived data, we confirmed that the ideal spin coating speed is 3,000 rpm. And these results provide an optimized polyimide alignment layer process when considering enhanced future LCD manufacturing.

실선계측 데이터 대체를 위한 AIS 및 ECMWF 데이터베이스 조합을 이용한 LNGC의 분당 회전수 및 동력 추정에 관한 타당성 연구 (A Feasibility Study on the RPM and Engine Power Estimation Based on the Combination of AIS and ECMWF Database to Replace the Full-scale Measurement)

  • In the previous research, a study was carried out to estimate the actual performance such as the propeller Revolution Per Minute (RPM) and engine power of a Liquefied Natural Gas Carrier (LNGC) using the full-scale measurement data. After the predicted RPM and engine power were verified by comparing those with the measured values, the suggested method was regarded to be acceptable. However, there was a limitation to apply the method on the prediction of the RPM and engine power of a ship. Since the information of route, speed, and environmental conditions required for estimating the RPM and engine power is generally regarded as the intellectual property of a shipping company, it is difficult to secure the information on a shipyard. In this paper, the RPM and engine power of the 151K LNGC was estimated using the combination of Automatic Identification System (AIS) and European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) database in order to replace the full-scale measurement. The simulation approach, which was suggested in the previous research, was identically applied to the prediction of RPM and engine power. After the results based on the AIS and ECMWF database were compared with those obtained from the full-scale measurement data, the feasibility was briefly reviewed.

  • This paper presents the possibility of the electric energy harvesting using piezoelectric actuator which is operated by geared motor. The geared motor consisting of oval shape cam and speed controller was operated in the range of 40${\sim}$172rpm. The PZT actuator of $36L{\times}13W{\times}0.6H$ was used for energy harvesting and the results of the theoretical model were verified by comparing it with the measured response of a experimental setup. Experimental study for obtaining the optimal operating conditions, such as displacement variation of the PZT actuator and motor speed variation, was achieved. A power of 0.02mW at the geared motor speed of 172rpm and the PZT actuator maximum displacement of $500{\mu}m$ was measured. In this study, it was confirmed that the wind power can be used for MEMS based sensor operating and windmill health monitoring one.

소프트웨어 PLL 기반 소형 고속 BLDCM의 속도 제어 (Speed Control of High Speed Miniature BLDCM Based on Software PLL)

  • 본 논문은 홀센서를 사용하는 고속 소형 BLDCM의 속도제어를 위해 PLL 방식을 적용하였다. 제안된 방식은 기준펄스 신호와 홀센서 신호와의 위상차를 이용하는 PLL 기반의 속도제어 기법으로, 별도의 속도 계산이 요구되지 않고, 지령전류는 직접 두 신호의 위상차에 의해 결정된다. 전류 지령은 두 펄스 신호의 위상차에 따라서, 전동기의 속도를 일정하게 유지하기 위하여 변화된다. 제안된 방식은 매우 간단하지만 효과적인 속도 제어를 구현할 수 있다. 또한, 부드러운 토크를 발생하기 위하여 지령 전류는 가속 및 감속 패턴을 따라 변동하도록 설계되었다. 제안된 방식은 50W, 40,000[rpm]급의 소형 고속 BLDCM에 적용하여 실험하였다.
