Design of Object-Oriented Cideo Controller based on Stack (스택기반 객체 지향형 영상 제어기 설계)

  • In this paper, a controller is designed for efficient controlling of video data with object-oriented feature. The need of controlling video data in an object unit is on the rise for the reason of rapidly growing demand for high-quality video services. We propose a programmable architecture with stack buffers which can minimize a scheduling overhead by having separate buffes for genral data and return addresses. The buffers are veyr useful for move and copy operations for multitasking and task switching. The controller offers extended instructions that process several data types including 32bit integrer type. Operation speed of the controller is from 77MHz to 44MHz.

  • A two-dimensional Navier-Stokes solver using hybrid meshes is parallelized with a domain decompostion method. The focus of this paper is placed on minimizing the amount of effort in parallelizing the serial version of the solver, and this is achieved by adding an additional layer of cells to each decomposed domain. Most subroutines of the serial solver are used without modification, and the information exchange between neighboring domains is achieved using MPI(Message Passing Interface) library. Load balancing among the processors and scheduling of the message passing are implemented to reduce the overhead of parallelization, and the speed-up achieved by parallelization is measured on the transonic invisicd and turbulent flow problems. The parallelization efficiencies of the explicit Runge-Kutta scheme and the implicit point-SGS scheme are compared and the effects of various factors on the results are also studied.

  • In recent, many countries and research institutes have been studying how to construct the high-speed subscriber access network. Task Force team of IEEE 802.3ah has accomplished the standardization of EPON which is the next generation subscriber access network. EPON doesn't still have the bandwidth enough to support the new service(e.g various multimedia service) which demands the high bandwidth. For these new multimedia services,10G EPON is the next generation subscriber access network which expanded the up-down bandwidth range of 1G EPON 10 times in order to support demanding high bandwidth. We have proposed the model which can accommodate IEEE 802.1 AVB traffics smoothly in 10G EPON and suggesting the Intra-ONU scheduling model which makes this model operate effectively.

  • 언제 어디서나 초고속으로 무선인터넷 사용을 목표로 하는 휴대인터넷 시스템이 곧 상용화될 예정이다. 휴대 인터넷 시스템은 서로 다른 특성을 가지고 있는 UGS, rtPS, nrtPS, BE 서비스들을 제공하므로 QoS를 고려한 효율적인 스케줄링 기법을 필요로 한다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 파라미터 값들에 대한 스케줄링 기법의 성능을 평가할 수 있는 시뮬레이터를 개발하였다. 모델을 변경하지 않고 시스템을 구성하는 다양한 특성치들을 쉽게 변경하면서 시뮬레이션을 실시할 수 있도록 일반화 한 것이 제안 시뮬레이터의 장점이다.

  • An efficient real-time implementation of digital filtering algorithms using a multiprocessor system in a ring network is investigated. The development time and cost for implementing a high speed signal processing system can be considerably reduced because algorithm are implemented in software using commercially available digital signal processors. This method is based on a parallel block processing approach, where a continuously supplied input data is divided into blocks, and the blocks are processed concurrently by being assigned to each processor in the system. This approach not only requires a simple interconnection network but also reduces the number of communications among the processors very much. The data dependency of the blocks to be processed concurrently brings on dependency problems between the processors in the system. A systematic scheduling method has been developed by using a processors which can be used efficiently, the methods for solving dependency problems between the processors are investigated. Implementation procedures and results for FIR, recursive (IIR), and adaptive filtering algorithms are illustrated.

  • This paper presents an Optimal Power Flow (OPF) algorithm using Interior Point Method (IPM) to swiftly and precisely perform the five minute dispatch. This newly suggested methodology is based on Affine Scaling Interior Point Method which is favorable for large-scale problems involving many constraints. It is also eligible for OPF problems in order to improve the calculation speed and the preciseness of its resultant solutions. Big-M Method is also used to improve the solution stability. Finally, this paper provides relevant case studies to confirm the efficiency of the proposed methodology.

Bounding Space Management for Real-time Visual Simulation of GK-DEVS (GK-DEVS의 실시간 시각 시뮬레이션을 위한 외곽공간의 관리)

  • This paper presents bounding space(BS) management for real-time visual simulation when using GK-DEVS models. Since GK-DEVS, extended from DEVS formalism, has information of 3D geometry and 3D hierarchical structure, we employs three types of bounding spaces: BS of its own shape, BS of its children GK-DEVS, and total BS. In addition to next-event scheduling functionality of previous GK-Simulator, its abstract simulation algorithms is extended to manage the three types of BSs so that BSs can be utilized in the rendering process of a renderer, so called GK-Renderer, We have implemented the method and evaluated it with an automated manufacturing system. In the case study, the proposed BSs management method showed about 2 times improvement in terms of rendering process speed.

  • As the architecture of automotive software is complicated and LOC of software increases, there is an increasing demand for standard operating system. OSEK/VDX defines an industry standard for automotive operating system and middleware. This paper introduces an implementation of RTOS(OSCAR-OSEK) based on OSEK/VDX standard. For better speed of scheduling, we suggest a new method for ready queue implementation considering the characteristic of automotive application software. Also we introduce a method for improving the portability of RTOS on various MCUs. And, we show OSCAR-OSEK implementation and performance test results.

  • Optimizing the performance of deep neural networks on embedded systems is a challenging task that requires efficient compilers and runtime systems. We propose a TVM-based approach that consists of three steps: quantization, auto-scheduling, and ahead-of-time compilation. Our approach reduces the computational complexity of models without significant loss of accuracy, and generates optimized code for various hardware platforms. We evaluate our approach on three representative CNNs using ImageNet Dataset on the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier board and show that it outperforms baseline methods in terms of processing speed.

  • Haul routes for earthmoving operation need to be carefully selected because the decision on the haul routes could make a significant difference in the project's cost and time. This paper proposes a decision support system for improving productivity of earthmoving operation that helps construction managers choose the best haul routes of trucks based on time slots. Also, a methodology for optimal selection of haul routes considering traffic conditions and topographic conditions of the routes is explained. Raster data model is used to find an available shortest path based on cost weighted distance. A system was developed on a geographic information system environment for efficient database management and easy manipulation of graphical data. A real-world case study was conducted to verify the applicability of the proposed system.
