In this paper, a novel method of sensorless control scheme is proposed to apply on a single phase hybrid SRM used in high speed operation. The proposed method utilizes beneficially permanent magnet field whose performance is motor parameter independent to estimate the rotor position. Also, the current slope is adopted to complete the sensorless control when the motor running with heavy torque at high speed condition. Through this approach, the adjustable turn on/off position can be achieved without prior knowledge of inductance profile which is always employed by many sensorless schemes. And this paper may offer an available method to do the sensorless control in hybrid SRM used for high speed running.

In this study, experiments of high speed grinding had been earned out in a STD11 specimen for evaluating the grindability with designed CBN grinding wheels Ground surfaces were analyzed and evaluated by means of surface Integrities and wheel damages. The surface roughness and 3 dimensional profile had been used for analyzing the micro-surface integrity. The residual stress of the ground surface had been measured by the x-ray diffraction method. Also, the surface state of the ground specimens and the grinding wheels were evaluated by a metallurgical microscope and SEM system after high speed grinding in order to choose the suitable machining conditions.

This paper reports experimental results on microdrilling process for silicon parts used in semiconductor equipments. An experimental system was developed consisting of a high speed precision machine, microscope system, and project profile instrument. The experimental results indicate that the amount of chipping at the entrance and exit of micro hole decreases as the spindle speed increases up to 18,000 rpm. At higher spindle speed, however, the amount of chipping increases rapidly. The amount of chipping and infeed rate show proportional relationship up to 20 m/min of infeed rate. Beyond that infeed rate, however, sudden increase in the amount of chipping has occurred.

The grating projection method with phase-shifting technique is very useful in measuring the 3-dimensional (3D) shape with high accuracy and speed. In this work, we have developed an ultra high-speed digital laser grating projection system using a high-power laser diode and a highsensitivity CMOS camera. With our system, the optical measurement required to find out the profile of a 3D object could be carried out within 2.6 ms, which is a significant ($\sim$10 times) improvement compared with those of the previous studies.
This research has been performed to estimate the hunting motion hysteresis of railway passenger cars. An old and a new car with almost same structure are chosen as analysis models. To solve effectively a set of simultaneous equations of motion strongly coupled with creep relations, shooting algorithm in which the nonlinear relations are regarded as a two-point boundary value problem is adopted. The bifurcation theory is applied to the dynamic analysis to distinguish differences between linear and nonlinear critical speeds by variation of parameters. It is found that there are some factors and their operation area to make nonlinear critical speed respond to them more sensitivity than linear critical speed. Full-scale roller rig tests are carried out for the validation of the numerical results. Finally, it is concluded that the wear of wheel profile and the stiffness discontinuities of wheelset suspension caused by deterioration have to be considered in the analysis to predict hysteresis of critical speed precisely.
The hydraulic buffer stop placed on the end of the railway brakes the train could not reduce the velocity sufficiently because of the braking system troubles or driver's mistakes. The hydraulic buffer stop is composed of 2 operating parts; hydraulic buffers and rail clamps. Hydraulic buffers brake trains non-destructively in low speed, otherwise rail clamps begin to work in higher speed. In this paper, The braking process of the hydraulic buffer stop is investigated by numerical methods. The hydraulic buffer is numerically analyzed and designed to absorb the kinematic energy of the train below 3.2km/h speed. The hydraulic buffer stop crushed by the train with 5km/h speed is analyzed by FEM package-PAM CRASH in order to obtain the stress profile in rail clamps and buffer stop frame.
The current study presents the design and performance of a novel 4/2 switched reluctance motor (SRM) for a high-speed air blower. With a comparative study of some rotor structures for a high-speed drive, a stepper-type rotor is optimized to produce a continuous torque and a low torque ripple. Rotor pole arc is modified to have a wide continuous output torque region, and air gap is determined to develop less torque ripple. The rotor radius is determined to reduce torque ripple with a reiterative FEM analysis. The designed rotor has three regions: short uniform, long uniform, and nonuniform air-gap region. The positive torque region is wider than a conventional 4/2 SRM without any torque dead zone. A prototype is tested and the efficiency is up to 72[%] at 30,000[rpm], 600[w] output.

Power Circuit Breaker uses a variable-speed cam mechanism actuated by pre-loaded spring force. This paper presents the optimal design procedure for a variable-speed cam mechanism based on the dynamic model of a complete spring-actuated cam system. The optimal cam is compared with an original cam. Simulation results show that the dynamic behaviors of the designed cam are superior to those of the original cam.
Automatic Operation based on ATO (Automatic Train Operation) is necessary for driverless Light Rail Transit business. When this kind of driverless LRT operation plan is made, TPS (Train Performance Simulation) is traditionally simulated at all-out mode and coasting mode based on manual operation. Commercial schedule speed equals to all-out speed minus $9{\sim}15%$ make-up margin. Coasting mode TPS simulation is also run at commercial schedule speed to calculate run time and energy consumption. But TPS based on manual operation should make an improvement on accuracy in case of driverless LRT operation Plan. In this paper, new fast mode TPS simulation using ATO pattern is proposed and show near actual ATO result. The actual ATO pattern can be accurately simulated with the introduction of 4 parameters such as commercial braking rate, jerk, station stop profile and grade converted distance. Normal mode TPS simulation for commercial schedule speed can be designed to have fast mode trip time plus 3 seconds/km margin recommended by korean standard LRT specification.

This paper presents the acceleration optimization of a high-speed LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) transfer system for the minimization of vibration. To reduce vibration is one of key requirements for the dynamic control of a high-speed LCD transfer system. In this paper, the concept of finite jerk (the first derivative of acceleration) has been introduced for realizing input acceleration. The profile of finite jerk has been optimized using a genetic algorithm so that vibration effect can be minimized. In order to incorporate a genetic algorithm, the dynamic model of a LCD transfer system which is realized by using the $ADAMS^{(R){$ software has been linked to the simulation system constructed by the $MATLAB^{(R)}$. The simulation results illustrated that the duration of finite jerk can be optimized so as to minimize the magnitude of vibration. It has been also shown that the acceleration optimization with finite jerk can make the high-speed motion of a LCD transfer system result in low vibration, compared with the conventional motion control with trapezoidal velocity profile.
