  • This paper proposes a new method to investigate combustion phenomena using the variation of crankshaft speed, From the idea that the variation of crankshaft speed contains the information of combustion, the energy method is applied as a single degree of freedom. Through the comparison of measured and calculated crankshaft speed, the proposed energy model is proved to be effective. When the crankshaft speed is used in the energy equation, filtering of the speed is required. The frequency components of cylinder pressure are analyzed and the coefficients of Fourier series above the twelfth frequency of engine speed are considered as a noise. As an example of application of this research, some combustion analyses like mean effective pressure, heat release rate, and misfire detection were carried out.

  • This paper proposes a new speed sensorless control method of a permanent magnet synchronous motor using an instantaneous reactive power. In the proposed algorithm, the line currents are estimated by a observer and the estimated speed can be yielded from the voltage equation because the information of speed is included in back emf. But the speed estimation error between the estimated and the real speeds is occured by errors due to measuring the motor parameters and sensing the line current and the input voltage. To minimize the speed estimation error, the estimated speed is compensated by using an instantaneous reactive power. In this paper, the proposed algorithm is not affected by mechanical motor parameters because the mechanical equation is not used. The effectiveness of algorithm is confirmed by the experiments.

  • In this paper, design of current and speed controller for DC motor drive system using Embedded Target for TI C2000DSP in Matlab/Simulink is introduced. Current and speed controller is designed and implemented using program simply and easily, and speed control response of DC motor can be advanced. Current and speed control of DC motor is carried in eZdsp F2812 control board using Embeded Target for TI C2000DSP in Matlab/Simulink. Speed feedback is processed through A/D converter using tacho generator as speed sensor, and current feedback is processed through A/D converter using hall sensor as current sensor. Controller is designed to PI current controller and PI speed controller. Current and speed response is verified through simulations and experiments.

닻을 운용한 선체운동 제어 (A Study on the Control of Ship Motion using the Anchor Dredging)

  • Ship operators are used to dredge anchor for the collision avoidance or safety of ship handling in a harbour or narrow channel. This paper clarifies the technique using tile anchor dredging known as a common sense for the seafarers. A mathematical model at low speed range has been established for the estimation of ship motion under the assumed environment , simulate the advance speed , and turning ability under the anchor dredging or not. The results shows good agreement with the conventional seamanship and their experiences as follows. Ahead speed used the anchor dredging is slower(speed reduction ratio:40%) than the normal ahead speed and the stopping distance is shorter (distance reduction ratio:40%)than the normal ahead distance without the anchor dredging. Turning speed used anchor dredging is slower(speed reduction ratio:72%)than the normal ahead speed and the tactical diameter is shorter(distance reduction ratio:24%)than the diameter by the normal turning without the anchor dredging.

  • As the railway becomes higher, the reliable stability and riding comfort of higher railway are required. To improve the riding comfort of high-speed trains, it is very helpful to use active suspension system for railway. In Japan, the high-speed train, Shinkansen has adopted semi-active suspension system and now it is running in the main trunk. In this paper, the authors introduce several technical trends of vibration control methods of Japanese Shinkansen. And the installation of semi-active suspension to HSR 350x and the test result of test run on the Kyoung-Bu high speed ling are also explained. After development of HSR 350x, new R&D national project of high speed train is progressed by Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs. This project is the development of Electric Multiple Unit of high speed train with 400km/h of maximum test speed. These result would be helpful to progress next generation high speed project.

  • SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) drives require the accurate position and speed information of the rotor. These informations are generally provided by a shaft encoder or resolver. High temperature, EMI, and dust may make detection performance deteriorate. Therefore, the elimination of the position and speed sensor is desirable. In this paper, a nonlinear adaptive observer using the MRAS(Model Reference Adaptive System) is proposed. The rotor speed and position are estimated by the adaptation law using the real and estimated currents. The stability of the adaptive observer is proved by Lyapunov stability theory. The proposed methods are implemented with TMS320C31 DSP. Experimental results prove that the observer has a good estimation performance of the rotor speed and position despite of the parameter variations and loads, and the speed control can be accomplished in the wide speed range.

  • Currently KERI is participating a project whose goal is to develop the Korean High-Speed Train(KHST) with maximum speed of 350kph. KERI's responsibility is the electrical system engineering that includes engineering design of an on-board computer system for diagnosis and control of train set and electrical/mechanical devices. A system engineering approach of the design is performed in order to guarantee the passenger safety and economically viable train for on-board control system construction, operation and maintenance. This paper presents the draft engineering des on-board computer system that ensures the s and reliability of KHST. The draft is focuse network interfaced distributed processing system.

  • To improve traction effort performance and stability for the Korean High-Speed Railway Train, practical re-adhesion controller including a novel anti-slip control scheme is proposed.   • This paper presents the control algorithm verification process for VCB (Vacuum Circuit Breaker) of Korean High Speed Train. In order to enhance the reliability of the control algorithm, the verification process must be performed. The verification is conducted by comparing the pre-designed control algorithm with the pre-planned scenario by simulation tools such as SDL and MSC. This verification process will be applied to the other control algorithms of various control units of Korean High Speed Train.

  • The dynamic behavior of high speed train is very important because it should be safe and is satisfied with the ride comfort of passengers. The railway is composed of many suspension components-1st springs, 1st dampers, 2nd springs, 2nd dampers etc- that have an influence on the dynamic characteristics of high speed train. Also, the wheel/rail shapes, the track condition and geometry and many environmental factors-rain, snow, wind etc-are affected the dynamic behavior of high speed train. This paper is reviewed the effect of wind(gust) on the dynamic behavior of high speed train. Vampire program is used for this simulation. The result of simulation shows that high speed train should not be operated when the gust speed is beyond 34.5m/sec.
