  • An in-cabinet response spectrum should be generated to perform the seismic qualification of devices and instruments mounted inside safety-related electrical equipment installed in nuclear power plants. The response spectrum is available by obtaining accurate seismic responses at the device mounting location of the cabinet. The dynamic behavior of most of electrical equipment may not be easily analyzed due to their complex mass and stiffness distributions. Considering these facts, this study proposes a procedure to estimate the seismic responses of a structure by a combination of a test and subsequent analysis. This technique firstly constructs the modal equations of the structure by using the experiment modal parameters obtained from the impact test. Then the seismic responses of the structure may be calculated by a mode superposition method. A simple steel frame structure was fabricated as a specimen for the validation of the proposed method. The seismic responses of the specimen were estimated by using the proposed technique and compared with the measurements obtained from the shaking table tests. The study results show that it is possible to accurately estimate the seismic response of the structure by using the experimental modal parameters obtained from the impact test.

  • In general, the response spectrum analysis(RSA) method is wifely used for seismic analysis of building structures, and the time history analysis(THA) is applied for computation of structural vibration caused by equipments, machines and moving loads, etc. However, compared with the RSA method, the THA method is very complex, difficult and time consuming. In this study, the maximum responses for the vertical vibration are calculated conveniently by the RSA method. At first, the process for the RSA in excitation is proposed, and the maximum modal responses are combined by CQC and SRSS methods. Also, the responses obtained by the two modal combination methods are compared to the responses by the THA. And the correlation coefficients for human activities is proposed, and the RSA responses obtained by used to the correlation coefficients are calculated. Finally, results of the proposed method are compared with those of the time history analysis and correlation coefficients should be considered for the RSA of floor structure subjected to group dynamic loads.

  • Reliability of printed circuit board (PCB), which is based on high integrated circuit technology, is having been important because of development of electric and self-driving car. In order to answer these demand, automated X-ray inspection (AXI) is best solution for PCB non-destructive test. PCB is consist of plastic, copper, and, lead, which have low to high Z-number materials. By using dual energy X-ray imaging, these materials can be inspected accurately and efficiently. Dual energy X-ray imaging, that have the advantage of separating materials, however, need some solution such as energy separation method and enhancing efficiency because PCB has materials that has wide range of Z-number. In this work, we found out several things by analysis of X-ray energy spectrum. Separating between lead and combination of plastic and copper is only possible with energy range not dose. On the other hand, separating between plastic and copper is only with dose not energy range. Moreover the copper filter of high energy part of dual X-ray imaging and 50 kVp of low energy part of dual X-ray imaging is best for efficiency.

  • X-ray fluorescence analysis has been widely used in the field of science and industry because it gives information about elements and their concentrations without destruction of samples. To increase analysis accuracy of fluorescence generated by photons of the transmission-type X-ray tube for mixture and compound samples would be recommend to have strong energy near 10 keV and 20 keV simultaneously. Tungsten of 9.65 keV and molybdenum of 17.48 keV were considered as targets with dual deposition structure for obtaining two strong characteristic X-rays, and the transmission-type X-ray tube was analyzed using Geant4 Monte Carlo simulation. The W-Mo structure resulted in strong characteristic X-ray near 10 keV and 20 keV simultaneously. A structure with Mo-W multilayers of 5 ㎛ thick also gave optimal spectrum. Various material combination and thickness optimization for the dual-structured target can give X-ray spectrum with strong characteristic X-ray of specific energies.

  • Auctions have been traditionally used to find the current price of goods when little is known about their true value. A special auction methodology, called a 'simultaneous multiple round auction', is available to auction radiofrequency spectrum where all lots are simultaneously on of for over multiple rounds of bidding. This type of auction is especially useful when there are lots that are of essentially equal value and substitutable, except that different bidders may prefer different combinations of lots. By using multiple rounds, a bidder has the opportunity to gather information concerning the value of individual lots and can change strategy by shifting the bidding to another preferred combination if one combination becomes too expensive. Information is released in three main ways during an auction: Bidder Status; High Bids; and Bandwidth Value.

  • The $CaSO_4$ : Tm-PTFE TLDs have been prepared and their energy dependences of TL intensity to X-rays have been investigated. The dose dependence of the prepared $CaSO_4$ : Tm-PTFE TLDs is linear within the range of $100{\mu}Gy-10Gy$ for X-rays and gamma rays. The spectral peaks of TL emission spectrum are at about 350nm and 475nm. The fading rate of the main peak has been found to be about 2% for 30days when $CaSO_4$ : Tm-PTFE TLDs stored in the dark room at room temperature. The energy dependence of $CaSO_4$ : Tm-PTFE TLD has been compensated by combining the TL responses of one bare TLD and five TLDs filtered with 1.0mm Al, 0.2mm Cu, 0.5mm Cu, 1.5mm Cu, 2.0mm Pb respectively. The determined correction coefficients for filter combination are $a_0=0.078,\;a_1=-0.009,\;a_2=-0.235,\;a_3=0.588,\;a_4=0.568\;and\;a_5=0.180$ respectively. From the results of these studies, the prepared TLD badge of six dosimeter combination may be useful as a radiation dosimeter for personal and environmental monitoring.

  • The resistant strains due to the extended-spectrum $\beta$-lactamase (ESBL) were susceptible to cefatrizine combined with clavulanic acid. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the in vitro and in vivo antibacterial activities of cefatrizine/clavulanic acid (CTRZ/CV) combination at a ratio of 2 : 1 in comparison with cefaclor (CCLO), cefuroxime (CRXM), cefuroxime axetil (CRXMA) and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (AMXCCV). CTRZ/CV showed good activity against laboratory strains of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and exhibited excellent antibacterial activity against $\beta$-lactamase-producing strains. The bactericidal activity of CTRZ/CV was superior to that of CCLO and CRXM, and almost equal to that of AMXCCV against the $\beta$-lactamase-producing strains. The in vitro results were substantiated. by in vivo mouse experimental infection studies with $\beta$-lactamase-producing and non-producing strains. In mixed experimental infection due to $\beta$-lactamase-producing and non-producing strains, the therapeutic efficacy of CTRZ/CV was superior to that of CTRZ, CCLO, CRXMA and AMXCCV. In respiratory tract infection in mice due to Klebsiella pneumoniae EB4O, CTRZ/CV was more erective than CCLO, CRXMA and AMXCCV and also more efficacious than CCLO, CRXMA and AMXCCV in urinary tract infection in mice due to Escherichia coli EB13. These results indicate that CTRZ/CV is a useful drug for the treatment of infection caused by $\beta$-1actamase-producing strains including ESBL-producing strains.

  • In this paper, finite element modeling of the laser ultrasonics (LU) process in ablation regime is of interest. The momentum resulting from the removal of material from the specimen surface by the laser beam radiation in ablation regime is modeled as a pressure pulse. To model this pressure pulse, two equations are required: one for the spatial distribution and one for the temporal distribution of the pulse. Previous researchers have proposed various equations for the spatial and temporal distributions of the pressure pulse in different laser applications. All available equations are examined and the best combination of the temporal and spatial distributions of the pressure pulse that provides the most accurate results is identified. This combination of temporal and spatial distributions has never been used for modeling laser ultrasonics before. Then by using this new model, the effects of variations in pulse duration and laser spot radius on the shape, amplitude, and frequency spectrum of ultrasonic waves are studied. Furthermore, the LU in thermoelastic regime is simulated by this model and compared with LU in ablation regime. The interaction of ultrasonic waves with a defect is also investigated in the LU process in ablation regime. Good agreement of the results obtained from the new finite element model and available experimental data confirms the accuracy of the proposed model.

  • Convergence is increasingly prevalent in the IT world which generally refers to the combination of two or more different technologies in a single device. Especially, the spectrum scarcity is becoming a big issue because there are exponential growth of broadcasting and communication systems in the spectrum demand. Cognitive radio (CR) is a convergence technology that is envisaged to solve the problems in wireless networks resulting from the limited available spectrum and the inefficiency in the spectrum usage by exploiting the existing wireless spectrum opportunistically. However, the very process of convergence is likely to expose significant security issues due to the merging of what have been separate services and technologies and also as a result of the introduction of new technologies. The main purpose of this research is focused on devising an adaptive security framework based on carousel for CR networks as a distinct telecommunication convergence application, which are still at the stage of being developed and standardized with the lack of security concerns. The framework uses a secure credential, named as carousel, initialized with the location related information from objects position, which is used to design security mechanisms for supporting privacy and various securities based on it. The proposed adaptive security framework could be used as a security building block for the CR network standards and various convergence applications.

  • Background: The wide spectrum of clinical features in advanced stages of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) probably contributes to disparities in outcomes because of different prognostic variables significant for stage IIIB/IV patients. Hence the aim of this study was to check for favorable response of patients to various chemotherapeutic combinations with respect to patient survival in stage IIIB and stage IV NSCLC disease. We selected those patients for our study who were receiving treatment with paclitaxel, gemcitabine or etoposide in combination with platinum based drugs. Materials and Methods: Seventy-two patients who visited the hospital from June 2009 to November 2012 with confirmed diagnosis of lung cancer were included, and data were collected for follow up and classified according to treatment received with respect to patients' regimen and response, and overall survival. This study analyzed tumor variables that were associated with clinical outcome in advanced NSCLC patients who were undergoing first-line chemotherapy for stage IIIB/IV NSCLC. Results: Comparative data on various parameters like age, gender, stage, histology, site of disease, metastatic site and chemo-regimens was analyzed; these parameters predicted variable significant improvement for overall survival ($p{\geq}0.05$). One and two year survival rates were 20.8% and 15.3%. Conclusions: In this study we found slight improvement in survival rates in NSCLC and clinical outcomes with one combination (carboplatin+paclitaxel). Overall there were only marginal differences in survival rates for other chemo-regimens evaluated in this study.
