  • Na, TPA-ZSM-5 with Si / Al mole ratio of about 130 was synthesized at low temperature and atmospheric pressure. These intermediate products were characterized by using XRD, XRF, FT-IR, NMR, and SEM. As a result, intermediate product were different from those that synthesized by autoclave method but spectroscopic characteristics of the final products showed to be in the typical ZSM-5 region. The defect sites were observed in the final product and removed by calcination at $540^{\circ}C$. Na, TPA-ZSM-5, aboveall, was synthesized at this condition within 48hr.

  • Gelation time, gel structure and volatility of by-products during gelation of PZT sol-gel processing were investigated by FT-IR spectroscopy. FT-IR spectroscopic study was performed on PZT gels with the various H₂O contents (1, 2 and 3 mol) and the several types (HNO₃, NH₄OH) and amounts (0.1, 0.2 mol) of catalysts, monitoring temporal (0, 1, 3, 10 weeks, 3 months and 3 years) and thermal (100-700 ℃) changes of FT-IR spectra. The interpretation of temporal change of the spectra revealed two trends. One is under the condition of 1 mol H₂O, 1 mol H₂O+0.1 mol HNO₃, 3 mol H₂O and the other is for 1 mol H₂O+0.1 mol NH₄OH, 2 mol H₂O, 1 mol H₂O+0.2 mol HNO₃. The gel structures and the gelation times for these conditions were discussed in comparison with the reported results of SiO₂, and we suggested the reaction mechanisms for these structural characteristics. Thermal variation of FT-IR spectra was interpreted as the evolution processes of gel by investigating the evaporation of solvent and the decomposition of organic residues.

  • [ $^{13}C$ ] NMR spectra were obtained for pure $CH_4$ hydrate in order to identify hydrate structure and cage occupancy of guest molecule. The NMR technique can provide both qualitative and quantitative hydrate characteristics. The moles of methane captured into pure $CH_4$ hydrate per mole of water were found to be similar to the full occupancy value. The overall results drawn from this study can be usefully applied to storage and transportation of natural gas.

  • It is desirable to establish a fundamental basis of dye laser technology in korea. Except the special wavelength mirrors, all parts of the dye laser were assembled using domestically available materials and the interior technology. The characteristics of pumping light of Ar discharge tube, fluorescence light of Rhodamine 6G and output pulses of the homemade dye laser were investigated by means of CRO and spectroscopic analysis.

  • The effects of anthryl derivatives and 9-aminoacridine on the thermal melting profile of a poly(dA)[poly(dT)]₂triplex were compared 9-Aminoacridine stabilizes the triplex far more effectively than anthryl derivatives. The absorption and CD and LD spectroscopic characteristics of anthryl derivatives are similar to those of 9-aminoacridine when complexed with the triplex; the N atom of acridine, which can act as a hydrogen bond acceptor, plays an important role in triplex stabilization.

  • We investigated the device performance for organic light-emitting characteristics based on the electron-injecting interfacial characteristics of Ba deposited on tris(8-quinolinolato)aluminum (III) ($Alq_3$) with a change of a Ba coverage. The device performance of organic light-emitting diodes with Ba coverage of 1 nm significantly improved by the lowering of the electron-injecting barrier height that was induced by electronic charge transfer. However, the device with Ba coverage above 1 nm showed poor device performance. The spectroscopic results indicated that the $Alq_3$ molecules started to decompose by the reaction between Ba and the phenoxide moiety of the molecule.

  • The complete structural characterization of dehydrodivanillin, an important natural product of interest to the food, cosmetics and aroma industries, has been carried out using multi-dimensional NMR spectroscopic techniques, and its previously $reported^{13}$C-NMR values have been reassigned. Dense and granular thin films of dehydrodivanillin have been grown by sublimation under high vacuum and studied using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), electrical and optical techniques. The transmittance spectra of the films indicate a wide optical band gap of more than 3 eV. Typical J-V characteristics of Glass/ITO/dehydrodivanillin/Al structure exhibited moderate current densities ${\sim}10^{-4}\;A/cm^2$ at voltages > 25 V with an appreciable SCLC mobility of the order of $10^{-6}\;cm^2$/V-s.

  • Effects of annealing temperature, time, and atmospehre on the flow characteristics of Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition-borophosphosilicate glass were investigated. Stable step coverage can be obtained by annealing the BPSG film at 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes in N2 atmosphere, but further heat treatment isnot effective. Flow characteristics of the BPSG film was better in steam atmosphere than in N2 atmosphere, and the factors which cause it were analyzed. The concentration of boron in the BPSG film was measured pretty accurately by FTIR spectrum. Boron content in the BPSG film was reduced by annealing treatment. The decrement of boron was greater in steam atmosphere than in the N2 atmosphere. Also it was found from the FTIR spectroscopic analysis that PH3 inhibited the oxidation of B2H6.

  • Although the intrinsic characteristics of DNA molecules and carbon nanotubes (CNT) are well known, fabrication methods and physical characteristics of CNT-embedded DNA thin films are rarely investigated. We report the construction and characterization of carboxyl (-COOH) group-modified multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT-COOH)-embedded DNA and cetyltrimethyl-ammonium chloride-modified DNA (DNA-CTMA) composite thin films. Here, we examine the structural, compositional, chemical, spectroscopic, and electrical characteristics of DNA and DNA-CTMA thin films consisting of various concentrations of MWCNT-COOH. The MWCNT-COOH-embedded DNA and DNA-CTMA composite thin films may offer a platform for developing novel optoelectronics, energy harvesting, and sensing applications in physical, chemical, and biological sciences.

  • This study analyzed spectroscopic methods for characterization of skarn minerals and sphalerite occurring in Dangdu ore deposit, and effectiveness of portable spectrometer in skarn mineral resources exploration is discussed. The spectroscopic analyses identified clinopyroxene, garnet, epidote, calcite, chlorite and sphalerite where spectral curves of clinopyroxene, garnet, epidote, and sphalerite show single mineral spectral characteristics and those of chlorite are in a mixed form with calcite and clinopyroxene. The assessment of spectroscopic analyses based on XRD analysis and microscopic observation reveals that clinopyroxene, garnet, epidote correspond well with more than 80% of detection, but sphalerite, chlorite, and calcite showed below 50% of detection rate. It is expected that skarn deposit exploration using a portable spectrometer is more effective in detection of clinopyroxene, garnet, and epidote whereas spectroscopic data of sphalerite, chlorite, and calcite needs to be utilized as a supplementary data. For the effective detection of chlorite and calcite, their content in the samples needs to be sufficient.
