Characterization for Blend of Siloxane Prepolymer onto Epoxy Resin (Siloxane Prepolymer의 에폭시수지 블렌드 특성)

  • In solution and melting state, SiOD prepolymer was prepared by cured excess DDM with epoxy-terminated siloxane oligomers to control phase separation when DGEBA was blended with PDMS. DGEBA/SiOD prepolymer was also cured at $150^{\circ}C$ for 3hrs. Mechanical and thermal properties of the cured prepolymer specimen were investigated. DGEBA/SiOD60 specimen blended SiOD prepolymer had the best flexural strength, modulus and impact strength. To show crack-formation procedure to morphology, DGEBA/DDM neat specimen was flowed homogeneously in direction of crack energy, whereas DGEBA/SiOD$(30{\sim}60)$ specimen showed heterogeneously dispersed particles and scattered domain of crack energy, but DGEBA/SiOT specimen showed homogeneous phase.

  • High-speed machining is one of the most effective technologies to improve productivity. Because of the high speed and high feed rate, high-speed machining can give great advantages for the machining of dies and molds. High speed machine tool makers try to find best machining condition with the one that they have built. Machine builders need to develop test specimen since it helps finding characteristics o( machine tools when the machining properties of the specimen are analyzed. This paper develops test specimen to identify features of the main spindle, the feeding device, and the frame of a machine tool.

An Experimental Study on the Structural Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Compressive Members Rehabilitated with Carbon Fiber Laminate (탄소섬유판으로 횡보강된 콘크리트 압축부재의 구조거동에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, compressive strengths of reinforced concrete compression members rehabilitated with C.F.L. were analyzed from the test. Test parameters are spacing, spliced length, and section area of rehabilitation material. Displacement, failure load were measured during test. The failure mode and ultimate load were analyzed from these measured data. Test result shows that closer spacing of C.F.L. is more effective. strengthening with 1-ply C.F.L. is more effective than that of specimen with 2-ply C.F.L. The compressive capacity of specimen spliced ($\pi$.D)/2 shows almost similar strength to that of non-spliced specimen. The ultimate load carrying capacity of specimen strengthened with C.F.L. is increased to 1.11~1.68 times of that of non-rehabilitation specimen.

  • 1) As result of specimen with shear reinforcing bar of reinforced concrete beam, ductile coefficient of specimen was high in specimen containing Cockle shells based on non-mixed specimen. In increase rate of specimens, yield strength was similar in specimens containing Cockle shells and non-mixed specimens and maximum strength was higher in specimen containing Cockle shells. 2) To sum up the above experimental results, it is found that using splitted Cockle shells as aggregate for concrete by 10%~ 15% showed the same or higher compressive strength and shear strength as concretes using general aggregate and it can be used as substitute aggregate of concrete. It is considered that for future use of splitted Cockle shells as substitute concrete aggregate, continuous researches of its durability, applicability and economy are needed.

  • In this experiment, it is decided to irradiated with a low dose of electron beam. Such that being things, the specimen is produced by the different dose, for example, 0.5[Mrad], 1[Mrad], 2[Mrad] except for original specimen. From the result of the analysis for the physical properties using FT-IR spectrum, it is confirmed that carbonyl groups of irradiated specimen is increased more than that of non-irradiated specimen. And all of nitric compound are disappeared by irradiating with electron beam. From the result of the dielectric characteristics, the specimen irradiated with 2[Mrad] is excellent.

  • Using a three-dimensional (3-D) FE analyses, this paper provides the shape optimization of the standard test specimen for the torsion test, as well as a method for analyzing effects of misalignment under the angular and concentric misalignment. For verification, FE analysis is performed, which is designed for the perfectly full-model. To optimize the design shape of the torsion-controlled fatigue test specimen, we performed sensitivity analysis using shape parameters. Additionally, two kinds of misalignment (angular misalignment and concentric misalignment) are applied to the circular and tubular specimens to show effects of misalignments in the FE analysis. The present results will provide valuable information for designing shafts for every kind of mechanical system under torsional force.

Effect of Specimen Thickness on the Statistical Properties of Fatigue Crack Growth Resistance in BS4360 Steel

  • In this paper the effect of specimen thickness on fatigue crack growth with the spatial distribution of material properties is presented. Basically, the material resistance to fatigue crack growth is treated as a spatial stochastic process, which varies randomly on the crack surface. The theoretical autocorrelation functions of fatigue crack growth resistance with specimen thickness are discussed for several correlation lengths. Constant ${\Delta}K$ fatigue crack growth tests were also performed on CT type specimens with three different thicknesses of BS 4360 steel. Applying the proposed stochastic model and statistical analysis procedure, the experimental data were analyzed for different specimen thicknesses for determining the autocorrelation functions and probability distributions of the fatigue crack growth resistance.

  • In this paper, the behavior of plastic zone in the notch tip was studied under Loye's Micro Vickers Hardness Measurement Method. The direction forming maximum plastic zone was estimated by finite element analysis. In the experiments, cold rolling sheet SGCD3, SK5 and hot rolling sheet SS41, S4SC was used to study the influence of carbon contents on plastic zone. The standard hardness test specimen and the notch hardness test specimen was made and loaded cyclically. The specimen was aged to stabilize the hardness. After aging treatment, the notch specimen was made and simple tension load of 50% yield strength was applied. The hardness test at the notch tip until the hardness data of standard hardness specimen was checked was performed.

  • Methods for measuring surface roughness based on light reflectivity have advantages over methods based on light interference or diffraction, especially in in-situ, on-the-machine and in-process applications. However, measurement inconsistencies caused by changes in the specimen are still a drawback for field applications. In this study, we propose a new feedback-based algorithm to enhance the consistency against changes in the specimen. The algorithm is deduced from simulations based on light reflectance theory with typical modeled surfaces. The proposed method is similar to a digital controller and regulates the power of reflected light. Experiments varying heights and materials, verified the improvements in robustness of the method against measurement disturbances caused by specimen changes.

A Stochastic Analysis of Crack Propagation Life under Constant Amplitude Loading (균일진폭 하중하에서의 확률론적 균열진전 수명해석)

  • The experimental results of fatigue crack propagation under constant amplitude loading show that intra-and inter-specimen variability exist. In this paper, a stochastic model for the estimation of mean and variance of crack propagation life is presented To take into account the intra-specimen variability, the material resistance against crack propagation is treated as an 1-dimensional spatial stochastic process, i. e. random field, varying along the propagation path. For the inter-specimen variability, C in paris equation is assumed to be a random variable. Compared with experimental results reported, the present method well estimate the variation in fatigue crack propagation life. And it is confirmed that the thicker the specimen thickness is, the less the variation of propagation life is.
