  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to seek in-depth perspectives of stakeholders on the necessity and specific criteria for designating a specialized hospital for urologic diseases. Methods: Eight participants experts in urology medicine and specialized hospital system were divided into four groups. Following the semi-structured guidelines, an in-depth interview was conducted twice and a focus group discussion was conducted three times. All the interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed. Results: The majority of participants predicted that there would be demand for specialized hospitals for urologic diseases. The criteria of designating a specialized hospital, such as the number of hospital beds and quality of health care, have to be modified in consideration of the specificity of urology. The introduction of a specialized hospital would improve the healthcare delivery system, positively affecting hospitals and patients. Furthermore, government support is essential for the maintenance of specialized hospital systems as urology hospitals experience difficulties in generating profits. Conclusion: This study is expected to be used as base data for introducing and operating a specialized hospital for urologic diseases. In addition, it is expected that the methodology and results of this study would encourage follow-up studies on specialized hospitals and provide guidelines to evaluate the effectiveness of such hospitals in other medical fields.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a specialized education curriculum aimed at helping nurses prepare for running and managing a Maternal-Child Health Center (Postpartum Care Center). Method: This study was conducted by an academy and industry joint research group consisting of professors of Nursing, and nurses actually running a Postpartum Care Center. The group compiled job descriptions of nursing through document research, interviews and observation during site visits, surveys, and seminars. They then performed a feasibility study and developed the final curriculum. Result: The education curriculum is a 32-week(2semester) program compromised of a theory part (12 credits, 180 hours) covering maternal and infant care and business start-up and field practice (3 credits, 45 hours). Courses in the theory part include an antenatal care, overview and details of maternal care, starting a business and its management. Of these courses, the overview of a maternal care course was developed with web-based contents. Field practice is designed to give students opportunities to visit Postpartum Care Centers, observe the care provided, and get hands-on experience. Conclusion: The specialized education curriculum is a 32-week course comprised of 12 credits on theory of antenatal care, overview and details of maternal care, infant care, starting and operating a business and 3 credits of field practice.

  • Purpose: Musculoskeletal disorder is one of diseases with high medical demand over-65 populations. Considering complex, chronic property of diseases, it is important for patients to provide specialized medical service. The musculoskeletal center is one of the most essential facility type in order to give adequate care to the patient suffering from musculoskeletal diseases. Methods: Statistical analysis relating to the component ratio of patients for the demand for medical care. Literature analysis for characteristic of the musculoskeletal diseases. The Status Survey of health care facilities operating in the musculoskeletal center. Results: It is necessary for the musculoskeletal center to be composed of four major areas such as consultation, examination, diagnosis, intervention for continuity of care. For continuum of care, it is essential to build medical environment integrated with each level of care such as consultant, examination, diagnosis procedure. Implications: This study is a basic research for design of musculoskeletal center, and need to be followed by further study using various perspectives and methods.

  • Purpose: As the nation is becoming an aging society, there is an increasing number of the patient who has Diseases of cardiovascular disease. So it is necessarily to build a facility which provides specialized health care. Methods: Field surveys to facilities and analysis to the floor plan have been conducted in order to suggest adequate architectural composition to the specialized cardiovascular center and the dimensions of rooms. Results: The result of this study can be summarized into six points which contain guide to how to organize the specialized cardiovascular center. One of the most important things in this study is to suggest the architectural type which provides efficient collaborating system between the outpatient and angiography unit. Implications: It can be said that this paper can be useful research material when the architect tries to plan the specialized cardiovascular center.

  • Tests of stability and toxicity, and clinical evaluation of anti-acne activity suggest that cryptotanshinone, a constituent of the roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, is an effective active ingredient for acne vulgaris treatments. Acne vulgaris, called acne or pimples, is the most common disease of the pilosebaceous follicle unit of the skin. It affects nearly 80% of people between the ages of 11 and 30. Approximately 30% of teenagers have acne of sufficient severity to require medical treatment. Acne is a follicular disorder of the skin. It occurs in specialized pilosebaceous units on the face and body. Acne develops when these specialized follicles undergo pathologic alterations that result in the formation of non-inflammatory lesions (comedones) and inflammatory lesions (papules, pustules and nodules). An abnormality of keratinizing epithelium of these follicles, thought to be due to the action of sebum synthesized and secreted by the androgen-sensitive sebaceous glands, leads to inflammation induced by the follicular bacterium Propionibacterium acnes. Therapy involves treatments that modify these pathogenic factors and includes drugs with antikeratinizing, antibacterial and antiseborrheic actions. Acne vulgaris is a very frequent disease, seen primarily in adolescents, involving the sebaceous follicles. Acne vulgaris is characterized by a great variety of clinical inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions: comedones, papules, pustules, nodules, cysts and scars. Acne vulgaris is a multi-factorial disease. Although its pathogenicity is unclear, extensive studies have shown that hyperseborrhea, superinfection by P. acnes and endocrinologic androgenic changes play a role in the development of acne vulgaris.

This paradigm is both required to the hospital ; consolidate department and service; architectural change. Benefit to patient and hospital are many, so there are many challenges in Korean general hospital. The purpose of this study is find architectural design guideline to Korean general hospital which is struggling to change from to functional organization to the patient based care center. As a result, the type is divided into three classes, consultation type(C), some of examinations are added on consultation type(EAC), consultation and examination are fully integrated type(CEI). Each type has different organization and the proportion of area, group unit, process of treatment.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the reality of early childhood education and recognition of its teachers. The subjects of this study were 173 day care center teachers. They were surveyed by questionnaire and the results were tabulated using descriptive statistics. According to the result, 1) the majority answered that test cohort is two years children, number of subject is between 10 and 20 children, required time is 20-30 minutes, frequency is once a week, and teaching duration is more than a year. 2) It was reported that the education plan is usually submitted to day care center teachers and if it is not well linked, there are not many things that can be revised after consultation with teacher, even though it is well delivered. 3) Although they answered that the preparation of teaching materials for music activities were well used, the efficiency of the material towards children was reported as just normal. 4) There was a replacement of the music teacher during the specialized music education program.
