Using the data shown in the national library statistics system, we tried to identify the current situation from various angles and derive problems, and based on this, we tried to find a development plan. First, it is necessary to conduct a thorough survey to know the statistics of Special library. Second, some degree of unification of the names used in Special libraries should be achieved. Third, it is necessary to present the subject classification for Special libraries. Fourth, it is necessary to actively promote and incentive Special libraries to participate in statistical surveys. Fifth, it is necessary to solve the problem that Special libraries are classified into other statistics. Sixth, statistics of national and large Special libraries such as the Court Library, Constitutional Court Library, and Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information cannot be found anywhere. Unless these problems are solved, the overall evaluation of Special libraries and policy proposals at the national level will be meaningless.

The purpose of this study is put emphasis on the importance of the library statistics. e. g., more than ten related current library statistics were inaccurated each other, so whole of statistic figures is not to be trusted. This research is make an attempt to more accurate information about library situations. Especially, with special reference to basic library statistics in the [Bulletin of National & College University libraries](Vol. 1-14, 1983-96, published by Council on National College & University Libraries), take the 24 major factors to compare and evaluate with 46 national and public university libraries. Analyzing 24 factors including 5 subjects. These subjects are as follows: 1) Total numbers of staffs with faculty members and students enrollment 2) Whole library collection of monographs and serial and publishcations. 3) Annual university budgets and library material expenditures. 4) Library facilities and building square measure. 5) Library service situation with circulation, inter-library loan/borrow and monograph D/B build up.

The purpose of this research is to investigate into possibility of the university library information services for small and medium sized firms. The study is based entirely upon general means of information gathering used by industrial user analyzed by industry su n.0, pporting institutes and university library statistics. The results of the investigation are summarized as follows: 1. Locational convenience is a factor influencing use of libraries, either because libraries are close to work, or because users are used on an o n.0, pportunistic basis. University libraries are located throughout the country. 2. It is investigated that university library services should be more specific in their promotion, clearly stating their strengths and special or unique aspects of their services. 3. When university library does establish fees, good service is implied and must be provided through suitable procedures and staff arrangements.

The aim of this study was to investigate and analyze the changes in inputs and outputs for information-poor in public libraries to eliminate the digital divide. The survey and analysis was utilized indicators for the information-poor shown in library statistics. And through the analysis of statistical indicators, it examined the changing patterns of the elements that each library are inputted to eliminating the digital divide. As a result, it revealed problems such as regression of facilities for the aged and disabled, continuous decrease in the number of special materials for disabled person, and reduction of service users and budget for information-poor. In order to solve this problem and to achieve the desired performance for eliminating the digital divide. it's required the budget increase and strong policies for information-poor.

This study strives to perform a pilot collection assessment study with the political science collection in a university library. Employing the basic list-checking analysis method, the study scrutinized the collection statistics and the circulation statistics, and check the current library holdings with a standard list which was composed of cited works extracted from course syllabi, theses, dissertations and faculty research papers. Although the study is a pilot case study that a particular model was applied to a collection in the field of political science, the result and procedures of the assessment will provide some implications regarding collection assessment in university libraries.

The purpose of this article is to discuss about both historical progress and current situation of user instruction in Korean academic libraries. Emphasis was on identifying and analyzing the special features and limitations of user instruction from the viewpoints of library users as well as those of librarians. To the end, data were collected from three methods: the first tool was such major statistical sources as 'KERIS university library statistics system' and 'Research Reports' by the Korean Private University Library Association. The second was from the results of surveys and interviews with librarians from 20 university libraries. And the third was from the results of surveys with library users in two sample university libraries.

The skew-t distribution is an attractive family of asymmetrical heavy-tailed densities that includes the normal, skew-normal and Student's-t distributions as special cases. In this work, we propose an EM-type algorithm for computing the maximum likelihood estimates for skew-t linear regression models with censored response. In contrast with previous proposals, this algorithm uses analytical expressions at the E-step, as opposed to Monte Carlo simulations. These expressions rely on formulas for the mean and variance of a truncated skew-t distribution, and can be computed using the R library MomTrunc. The standard errors, the prediction of unobserved values of the response and the log-likelihood function are obtained as a by-product. The proposed methodology is illustrated through the analyses of simulated and a real data application on Letter-Name Fluency test in Peruvian students.

The purpose of this article is to find out the meanings of library in Korean's daily life, especially considering the ecology of Korean library. To the end this article explores the following three research questions. First, a thorough literature review is conducted to identify the true nature of library recognition in Korean's daily life. The focus is on evaluating the objective reliability of both library statistics and scholarly research on Korean's library recognition. Secondly, evaluated is the level of Korean's library recognition from a relative point of view. A comparative analysis with the library recognition of advanced nations' citizens is carried out to expiscate both special features and limitations in Korean's library recognition. And finally, the indigenous factors influencing Korean's library recognition are investigated, and substantially effective solutions are prescribed to upgrade the level of Korean's library recognition.

Libraries have been made effect to satisfy customer by reflecting information need of customer on libraries. They have considered introducing the data mining techniques to analyze complicated and massive data of libraries and the Customer Relationship Management(CRM) to produce suitable services to each customer segmentation. The purpose of this study is to apply the CRM and data mining techniques to a library, ultimately intends to suggest rules for the collection management and the customer management.

To find out the status of document delivery and interlibrary loan services and the use of information technology in special libraries, questionnaires were sent to 328 special Libraries nation wide with at least 1 librarian, listed In the Korean Libraries Statistics 1994-1995(1996). $46.6\%$ were returned and 152 Questionnaires were analyzed. For document delivery, $61.3\%$ use BLDSC$47.5\%$ use KINITI. 87 libararies $(57.2\%)$ participate In interlibrary loan activities. To send requests, FAX and telephone is used the most, while FAX and print copy is used the most to receive the requested documents. $45-75\%$ use various information technology including online databases, Internet, e-mail, etc., and the use of information technology was related to the budget of the libraries. The costs, budgets, and slowness was the problems raised by the most. To improve the document delivery services, the most urgent thing is establishing cooperative system using BBS or Internet. Network systems to facilitate interlibrary loan should be established ultimately.
