  • The aim of this study is to apply and verify of Bayesian probability model, the likelihood ratio and statistical model, at Janghung, Korea, using a Geographic Information System (GIS). Landslide locations were identified in the study area from interpretation of IRS satellite images, field surveys, and maps of the topography, soil type, forest cover, geology and land use were constructed to spatial database. The factors that influence landslide occurrence, such as slope, aspect and curvature of topography were calculated from the topographic database. Texture, material, drainage and effective soil thickness were extracted from the soil database, and type, diameter and density of forest were extracted from the forest database. Land use was classified from the Landsat TM image satellite image. As each factor's ratings, the likelihood ratio coefficient were overlaid for landslide susceptibility mapping, Then the landslide susceptibility map was verified and compared using the existing landslide location. The results can be used to reduce hazards associated with landslides management and to plan land use and construction.

  • Currently different local governments and research institutes have established and using DB for each purposes on the heterogeneous database. Normally physical unification method is used in order to unify this geospatial database, but this takes too much time and resources and require periodic renewal and synchronization. Therefore, this research would like to present a logical integrated unification method based on attribute information of heterogeneous database, and a system design and construction method, in order to subjugate inefficiencies from the physical unification method. Through this a system that could supply user customized geospatial database was established and verified the functionality using the road data of an actual region.

  • We have estimated the fractal dimension of the molecular clouds in the Antigalactic Center based on the $^{12}CO$ (J = 1- 0) and $^{13}CO$ (J = 1- 0) database obtained using the 14m telescope at Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory. Using a developed code within IRAF, we were able to identify slice-clouds, and determined the dispersions of two spatial coordinates as well as perimeters and areas. The fractal dimension of the target region was estimated to be D = 1.34 for low resolution $^{12}CO$ (J = 1 - 0) database, and D = 1.4 for higher resolution $^{12}CO$ (J = 1 - 0) and $^{13}CO$ (J = 1 - 0) database, where $P {\propto} A^{D/2}$. The sampling rate (spatial resolution) of observed data must be an important parameter when estimating fractal dimension. Our database with higher resolution of 1 arcminute, which is corresponding to 0.2 pc at a distance of 1.1 kpc, gives us the same estimate of fractal dimension to that of local dark clouds. Fractal dimension is apparently invariant when varying the threshold temperatures applied to cloud identification. According to the dispersion pattern of longitudes and latitudes of identified slice-clouds, there is no preference of elongation direction.

  • Each office developped GIS for their own purpose recantly. But many cases, establ ished in some local government off ices, were found not to perform properly. The main problem is to integrate different offices' systems. Also. accurate nation-wide digital basemap database does not exist in Korea. To solve these problems, the suggestions are following: $\circled1$ develop the nation¬wide digital basemap database to increase the effectiveness of GIS, $\circled2$ make the database with standardized format, $\circled3$ educate and train people to be spcialist, $\circled4$ make laws and regulations to share and to integrate database.

  • Airphotos taken for the management of unauthorized houses in large cities like Seoul are very important material for understanding periodic change of topogrpahy. A research on construction of digital database using airphoto are required for the efficient management of existing airphotos, for the easy and better understanding of topography together with 1; 1,000 digital topographic map, and for the easy updating of topographic data. Digital data using 1 ; 5, 000 scale airphoto scanned 1,000 dpi has been experimentally constructed from georeferenced images to orthorectified images. The technical and economical possibilities for the construction of digital database using apripjoto have been checked based on the experimentation and future direction of how to make digital database using existing airphoto has been suggested.

  • This study attempts at building a GIS computing environment that incorporates object-relational spatio-temporal database for the time geography model with space-time path, space-time prism and space-time accessibility. The proposed computing environment is composed of ( i ) mobile GIS application for collecting spatio-temporal trajectory data of an individual, ( ii ) spatio-temporal database server that includes time geography model, and (iii) geovisualization client that performs time geographic queries to the spatio-temporal database. The spatio-temporal trajectory data collected by GPS-PDA client is automatically processed and sent to server through data management middleware. The spatio-temporal database implemented by extending a generic DBMS provides spatio-temporal objects, functions, and SQL. The geovisualization client illustrates 3D visual results of the queries about space-time path, space-time prism, and space-time accessibility. This study confirms the possibility of integrating mobile GIS and DBMS for time geography model, and it presents the appropriate database model with spatio-temporal objects and functions that may handle very large data for time geography application.

  • This research is to construct more useful Geo-spatial data by building spatial data to three dimensional and utilize the database effectively for development of application, maintenance and management program, and application technology, which is on going based on “Haeundae three dimensional database construction project”. Furthermore, the acquisition of geographic information data and the technological improvement of effective construction would be the important factors to judge the qualitative reputation of GIS. Above all, studies to create accurate data and overcome the error limitation are much more important than any other thing. Final form of Spatial Data to materialize efficient GIS(Geographic Information System) must be three dimensional spatial data which has attribute data, actual concept and numerical value of real world. In connection to that, development is on the move to improve building technique of useful spatial data and digitalize the entire country in cryberspace. $\ulcorner the cyber country lrcorner$is designed to mange the entire country systematically. This simulation would be able to cover administration of government institution, public service, corporate business and even the public life in the cyeberspace though the computer. Materialization of efficient GIS and establishment of condition as technically strong nation through the early realization of $\ulcorner the cyber country lrcorner$will provide a great opportunity to open up the global market with exportation of advanced technology.

  • Multi-dimensional data play a crucial role in various fields, as like computer graphics, geographical information system, and multimedia applications. Indexing method fur multi-dimensional data Is a very Important factor in overall system performance. What is proposed in this paper is a new dynamic access method for spatial objects called HL-CIF(Hierarchically Layered Caltech Intermediate Form) tree which requires small amount of storage space and facilitates efficient query processing. HL-CIF tree is a combination of hierarchical management of spatial objects and CIF tree in which spatial objects and sub-regions are associated with representative points. HL-CIF tree adopts "centroid" of spatial objects as the representative point. By reflecting objects′sizes and positions in its structure, HL-CIF tree guarantees the high spatial locality of objects grouped in a sub-region rendering query processing more efficient.

  • The real-time traffic data is generated continuous and unbounded stream data type while intelligent transport system (ITS) needs to provide various and high quality services by combining with spatial information. Traditional database techniques in ITS has shortage for processing dynamic real-time stream data and static spatial data simultaneously. In this paper, we design and implement an advanced traffic monitoring system (ATMS) with the integration of existed data stream management system (DSMS) and spatial DBMS using IntraMap. Besides, the developed ATMS can deal with the stream data of DSMS, the trajectory data of relational DBMS, and the spatial data of SDBMS concurrently. The implemented ATMS supports historical and one time query, continuous query and combined query. Application programmer can develop various intelligent services such as moving trajectory tracking, k-nearest neighbor (KNN) query and dynamic intelligent navigation by using components of the ATMS.

  • In this paper, we propose the methodology and system to show weather information to spatial system. When using the spatial information system, it is easy and convenient to show information such as target location, mission contents, enemy threats and so on. However, drawing 1-dimensional weather information on 3-dimensional space in spatial information system is hard task. To fuse data, we need to add a spatial layer including weather information to spatial layers and perform space modeling for showing weather information as spatial data in a virtual space. The virtual space is shown by receiving meteorological data and then changing in real time through weather database linkage.
