As a recent spatial structure have become long-spaned and light, stiffness of out-plane is reduced significantly. Due to this, it is necessary to calculate natural frequency correctly to check if structure is flexible or vortex-induced vibration is occurred. However, formula of frequency in domestic and foreign spatial structure has not been performed deeply. In this study, approximated formula obtained by eigenvalue analysis of seven domestic spatial structure is compared with two suggestions based on Japanese standard and formula by measurement of 28 spatial structure in Japan. Natural frequency of roof has a tendency to be reduced as the span of structure increases. Natural frequency of domestic structure is generally less than that of analysis and measurement of spatial structure in Japan. Therefore, it is confirm that roof of domestic spatial structure is relatively rather flexible than that of Japan.

Spatial data warehouses are a system managing manufactured data through ETL step with extracted spatial data from spatial DBMS or various data sources. In load period, duplicated spatial data in the same subject are not useful in extracted spatial data dislike aspatial data and waste the storage space by the feature of spatial data. Also, in case of extracting source data on heterogeneous system, as those have different spatial type and schema, the spatial extract method is required for them. Processing a step matching address about extracted spatial data using a standard Geocoding DB, the exiting methods load formal data set. However, the methods cause the comparison operation of extracted data with Geocoding DB, and according to integrate spatial data by subject it has problems which do not consider duplicated data among heterogeneous spatial DBMS. This paper proposes efficient extracting method to integrate update query extracted from heterogeneous source systems in data warehouse constructer. The method eliminates unnecessary extracting operation cost to choose related update queries like insertion or deletion on queries generated from loading to current point. Also, we eliminate and integrate extracted spatial data using update query in source spatial DBMS. The proposed method can reduce wasting storage space caused by duplicate storage and support rapidly analyzing spatial data by loading integrated data per loading point.
An extensive study of the vegetation characteristics of the Hamersley Ranges, a mountainous desert area of north-west Australia, facilitated the comparison of plant species diversity measures with mountainous deserts of other parts of the world. Alpha diversity was defined as the number of species co-existing at local scales and was found to average 18 species per 0.1 ha for the Hamersley Ranges. This was found to be similar to seven other mountainous deserts in North and South America, and southern Africa. Variation in alpha diversity between these deserts was found to considerably lower than within deserts, suggesting that local processes control species richness at local scales. Beta diversity, defined here as turnover in species composition at various spatial scales, can be measured in many ways. For the Hamersley Ranges, Wilson's β ranged from 1.2 to 1.6 for five sites along a topographic gradient, whereas Whittaker's β between different plant communities was found to average 0.93. Comparable data was not found for other desert areas, but comparisons to non-desert areas suggest beta diversity within landscapes is relatively high and is likely to reflect the considerable landform heterogeneity of the Hamersley Ranges. 55∼70% of species were shared between different landscapes of the Hamersley Ranges; comparisons to other regions suggest beta diversity at this scale is relatively low. Gamma diversity, the number of species over large spatial extents, was successfully compared using regression analysis of the log-log species - area relationship. This revealed that the northern Sonoran desert has significantly less species than the Nama (inland) Karoo and Hamersley Ranges over medium spatial extents, but species numbers were similar at a regional scale. Several constraints to the valid comparison of species diversity were identified, including lack of standardisation of sampling techniques, the wide range of measures employed, general lack of published data, and the influence of the various components of spatial scale on most diversity measures. Recommendations on how to improve future comparative work are provided.

This paper deals with comparison of classification accuracy between three land cover classification results having difference in resolution and they were classified with eight classes including building, road, forest, etc. Airborne hyperspectral image used in this study was acquired at 1000m, 2000m, 3000m elevation and had 24 bands(0.5m spatial resolution), 48 bands(1.0m), 96 bands(1.5m). Assessment of classification accuracy showed that the classification using 48 bands hyperspectral image had outstanding result as compared with other images. For using hyperspectral image, it was verified that 1m spatial resolution image having 48 bands was appropriate to classify land cover and qualitative improvement is expected in thematic map creation using airborne hyperspectral image.
This paper depicts a case study of the BIM (Building Information Modeling)-enabled evaluation of design alternatives for an actual remodeling project in Yeongwol, Korea. The increase of urban population and income followed by the growth of economy has derived massive supply of grand scale housing project in Korea since 1970s. Consequently, building remodeling became one of the feasible resolutions for renovating such old housings in these days. This paper aims to introduce a technical approach to such remodeling projects based on BIM-enabled applications focusing on quantitative analysis of design alternatives. Among the technical issues of such building remodeling projects, this paper focuses on the BIM-enabled area analysis and comparison between design alternatives to support decision-making even in early phase of remodeling design process. BIM and its variety of applications have broadly influenced the domain of AEC-FM (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Facility Management) within the lifecycle of buildings. As one of the applications facilitated by BIM, the automated area calculation and scenario-based comparison between alternatives can play an important role in the early phase of remodeling project. We modeled three design alternatives (buildings) and three housing modules (units) based on the actual case in Yeongwol city, Korea using a BIM design authoring tool. Nine combinatorial BIM models were demonstrated for the BIM-enabled review process described in this paper. To determine the most optimal design scenario among nine alternatives, this paper demonstrates a result of the conducted spatial program review. The main subject includes specific spatial program issues on; 1) the number of unit spaces; and 2) area of individual/grouped and private/shared spaces.

This paper proposes a tag indexing scheme for RFID tag using spatial index. The tag being used for the inventory management and the tag's location is determined by the position of readers. Therefore, the reader recognizes the tag, which is attached products and thereby their positions can be traced down. In this paper, we propose hTag-tree( Hybrid Tag index) which manages RFID tag attached products. hTag-tree is a new index, which is based on tag's attributes with fast searching, and this tag index manages RFID tags using reader's location. This tag index accesses rapidly to tags for insertion, deletion and updating in dynamic environment. This can minimize the number of node accesses in tag searching comparing to previous techniques. Also, by the extension of MER in present tag index, it is helpful to stop the lowering of capacity which can be caused by parent node approach. The proposed index experiment deals with the comparison of tag index. Fixed Interval R-tree, and present spatial index, R-tree comparison. As a result, the amount of searching time is significantly shortened through hTag-tree node access in data search. This shows that the use of proposed index improves the capacity of effective management of a large amount of RFID tag.

The necessity for the precise time synchronization of measurement data from multiple sensors is widely recognized in the field of global positioning system/inertial navigation system (GPS/INS) integration. Having precise time synchronization is critical for achieving high data fusion performance. The limitations and advantages of various time synchronization scenarios and existing solutions are investigated in this paper. A criterion for evaluating synchronization accuracy requirements is derived on the basis of a comparison of the Kalman filter innovation series and the platform dynamics. An innovative time synchronization solution using a counter and two latching registers is proposed. The proposed solution has been implemented with off-the-shelf components and tested. The resolution and accuracy analysis shows that the proposed solution can achieve a time synchronization accuracy of 0.1 ms if INS can provide a hard-wired timing signal. A synchronization accuracy of 2 ms was achieved when the test system was used to synchronize a low-grade micro-electromechanical inertial measurement unit (IMU), which has only an RS-232 data output interface.

Wireless sensor network (WSN) is a promising technology for monitoring physical phenomena at fine-grained spatial and temporal resolution. However, the typical approach of sending each sensed measurement out of the network for detailed spatial analysis of transient physical phenomena may not be an efficient or scalable solution. This paper focuses on in-network physical phenomena detection schemes, particularly the distributed computation of the boundary of physical phenomena (i.e. event), to support energy efficient spatial analysis in wireless sensor networks. In-network processing approach reduces the amount of network traffic and thus achieves network scalability and lifetime longevity. This study investigates the recent advances in distributed event detection based on in-network processing and includes a concise comparison of various existing schemes. These boundary detection schemes identify not only those sensor nodes that lie on the boundary of the physical phenomena but also the interior nodes. This constitutes an event geometry which is a basic building block of many spatial queries. In this paper, we introduce the challenges and opportunities for research in the field of in-network distributed event geometry boundary detection as well as illustrate the current status of research in this field. We also present new areas where the event geometry boundary detection can be of significant importance.
It is widely known that language functions in our brains are lateralized to the left hemisphere and spatial recognition functions are lateralized to the right hemisphere. It is also known that handedness is closely related to the lateralization of brain functions. However, at what point in the brain‘s development the lateralization of brain functions takesplace is still disputed. This study sought to find differences in linguistic and spatial abilities between left-handed and right-handed children, and provide objective data on the relationship between the handedness and the brain lateralization. 19 left-handed children and 20 right-handed children aged 5 were chosen through questionnaire for this study and the K-WPPSI simple intelligence test was used to check the homogeneity of two groups. The results showed that the differences inlinguistic and spatial ability between left and right-handed children were not statistically significant.

Recently, to support LBS(location-based services) and telematics applications efficiently, there have been many researches which consider the spatial network instead of Euclidean space. However, existing range query and k-nearest neighbor query algorithms show a linear decrease in performance as the value of radius and k is increased. In this paper, to increase the performance of query processing algorithm, we propose materialization-based range and k-nearest neighbor algorithms. In addition, we make the performance comparison to show the proposed algorithm achieves better retrieval performance than the existing algorithm.
