Purpose : The aim of this study was to identify the relation of cognition and visuospatial perception in stoke patients. Methods : A total of 16 stroke patients recruited from two hospital located in Donghae, Kang-won participated in this study(Right hemiplegia : twelve, Left hemiplegia : four). All participants scored higher than 20 point on the MMSE-K. To assess the cognitive function, we performed the Korean version of Mini Mental State Examination(MMSE-K), spatial perception domain of Lowenstein Occupational Therapy Cognition Assessment(LOTCA), Figure Color Copy(FCC), Linebisection Test(LBT) and Albert's test in stoke patients. Results: The Korean version of Mini Mental State Examination and spatial perception domain of Lowenstein Occupational Therapy Cognition Assessment were the highest points in sixty ages, Figure Color Copy is difference between Right hemiplegia and Left hemiplegia. Linebisection Test(LBT) and Albert's test had much relation, visuospatial perception had not relationship. Conclusion: Aging was cognition function and visuospatial perception had an interrelationship. visuospatial perception according to affected side in brain had an interrelationship but cognition function and visuospatial perception had not any interrelationship.
An attempt has been made to prove the so-called 'feature accumulation theory'. It is the theory describing that people tend to feel the same space with more identifiable objects much larger than that with fewer objects. Applying this theory to our cognition of spatial size, this paper made an experiment. Students were asked that if the lecture room they are sitting becomes a module (module 1), then how large are the questioned spaces in the campus. The result was striking. Through the mental image processing, they answered that the library and the architecture building looks much smaller than they actually are, and more surprisingly the basketball field much more smaller than it really is. This experiment shows that there is a strong tendency by which people regard the space much larger when there are more occupiable or behavior-causing elements in the space. In the case of basketball field, since there is nothing that can be occupied, this open space is seen as a small space for the subjects. This line of cognitive perception can be applied to the practice of urban planning and architectural planning. With the same size of given space, we can make it feel more rich and larger.

This study examines visual perception and spatial satisfaction according to lighting conditions. Field measurements and surveys were performed in three rest space of university buildings where various lighting conditions were employed. Results indicate that overall impression of space improved when low color temperature, such as 3,000 K governed overall lighting environment and accent lighting was used for wall surfaces. Lighting conditions that kept uniform illuminance levels using area light sources containing fluorescent lamps with 6,500 K failed to keep favorable spatial satisfaction for space. High color temperature was not recommended for lighting in rest space. Asymmetrical illuminance levels formed by low color temperature such as 3000 K is recommended to keep positive mood and improve spatial satisfaction in rest space. Overall impression of the space was influenced by visual comfort, color temperature, spatial satisfaction and brightness. Spatial satisfaction for space was effectively impacted by psychological comfort, color temperature and overall impression for lighting conditions. Psychological comfort in space was influenced by color temperature, spatial satisfaction and visual annoyance from reflected light.
The most important factor in pre-school children's psychological perception is ease of learning, and the closest measure is "natural" interaction. This study aims to explore the potential of tangible user interfaces (TUI) for AR collaboration for children's cognitive development. The conceptual model is constructed by analyzing physical interaction, spatial perception and social collaboration on the usability of TUI, to explore the role of TUI in pre-school children's cognition. In the empirical study, children aged 3-6 were taken as research objects. The experimental tool is "Plugo" education application. Parents answered questionnaires after observing their children's use. Research shows that physical interaction are the most critical factor in TUI. TUI is beneficial to the cultivation of spatial ability. The results are as follows: 1. Cronbach's Alpha and KMO were 0.921 and 0.965, which were significant and passed the reliability and validity test. 2. Through confirmatory factor analysis (model fit index, combinatorial validity), we found that physical interaction were closely related to usability. 3. The path analysis of the relationship proves that usability has a significant impact on the cultivation of pre-school children's spatial ability.
This study is the primary basic study about the spatial feature of modeling of Fashion Design. Then, this researcher lays significance in establishing the basic system about the character of dress and its ornaments as modeling in spatial-formal, dimension, examining the feature of modeling closely through perception principle and offering the basic principle to plan and organize the modeling space for dress and its ornaments on the basis of it. To generalize the findings is as follows : First, the spatial system of modeling for dress and its ornaments is made with 3 elements such as space, human beings and dress and its ornaments. Second, the form of dress and its ornaments and the spatial organization start from the structural basis which is human body, and the sensible system of body is made through inter-action, but the aesthetic expression is complet-ed by the moment of body. Third, the characteristic principle of model-ing for dress and its ornaments which was suggested in Chapter IV is based on the visuo-per-ceptional modeling experience, and these thinking contents are inputted in cognition course as the invisible in formation in the new space plan and organization and activate the apperception course and aim at the action about aesthetic judgement.
The study of pedestrian behavior covers wide topics, including way finding, choice and decision make, as well as spatial cognition and environmental perception. To address the problem, simulation is now put forward as suitable technique and method for analyzing human spatial behavior. In the paper we present a development architecture for simulating tracking pedestrian in a distributed environment. We introduce and explore the potential of using mobile agent-enabled distributed implementation model as a tool for development and implementation of the simulation. Three kinds of mobile agents are designed for implementation of managing and querying data of pedestrian. Finally, simulation result of JR 10,000 passengers’ movement is developed and implemented as a case study.
This study aims to explore age-related differences with the assessment tools in the web-based 3D virtual model house and to propose the 3D model house criteria which everyone can use easily. The participants came from three age groups, ranging from their 20s to their over 40. Presence, Usability and Space perception and cognition in the experiment for navigating and evaluating the web-based 3D model house were measured and compared through one-way ANOVA and two-way ANOVA. The results and conclusions are as follows. (1) The younger the participants were, the more positive they evaluated the experiment on Presence. However, 20s needed higher presence than other two groups. (2) 30s and over 40 groups evaluated that the 3D virtual model house was more efficient than an actual model house on Usability. When the participants were younger, the values of 'expressivity' factor were higher. (3) The younger the participants were, the more positive they perceived the virtual environment (VE) on Space perception and cognition scale. There were no significant differences in the selection of dwelling size and the floor plan type. There were no significant differences of interaction effects between age and online gaming experience on Presence and Usability. The results of the current study demonstrate that there are differences among age groups and older groups have difficulty navigating and assessing in a VE. Although older groups take longer to adapt in the VE, they regard the 3D model house as an effective tool for purchase of house.

The environment refers to what is surrounded by something during human life. This environment is related to the way humans live, and presents various problems on how to perceive the surrounding environment and how the behaviors that constitute the environment support the elements necessary for human life. Humans have an interest in the supportability of the environment as the interrelationship increases as humans perceive and understand the environment and accept the factors supported by the environment. In space, human movement starts from one space to the next and exchanges stimuli and reactions with the environment until reaching a target point. These human movements start with subjective judgment and during gait movement, the spatial environment surrounding humans becomes a collection of information necessary for humans and gives stimulation. will do. In this process, in particular, humans move along the movement path through movement in space and go through displacement perception and psychological changes, and recognize a series of spatial continuity. An image of thinking is formed[1]. In this process, spatial experience is perceived through the process of filtering by the senses in the real space, and the result of cognition is added through the process of subjective change accompanied by memory and knowledge, resulting in human movement. As such, the spatial search behavior begins with a series of perceptual and cognitive behaviors that arise in the process of human beings trying to read meaning from objects in the environment. Here, cognition includes the psychological process of sorting out and judging what the information is in the process of reading the meaning of the external environment, conditions, and material composition, and perception is the process of accepting information as the first step. It can be said to be the cognitive ability to read the meaning of the environment given to humans. Therefore, if we can grasp the perception of space while moving and human behavior as a response to perception, it will be possible to predict how to grasp it from a human point of view in a space that does not exist. Appreciating the aspect of modem architecture requires not only the comprehension of the nature of design and architects' ways of thinking and expression but also observers' views on buildings and their perceptive/cognitive stages. This calls for an in-depth study on the "system of phenomenological perceptions" that works as a new architectural experience system. The system of phenomenological perceptions makes it possible to specify the individual process of understanding architecture, that is, hands-on experiences, participations, feelings, perceptions, and cognition. The value of user experience and cognition has been emphasized by philosophical and aesthetical concepts as well. Therefore, in order to better appreciate the modern architecture, this study suggests theoretical consideration to "orientation and event" that are crucial elements in understanding a phenomenological view and materializing actual space formation. This offers the cognitive system with which we analyze modem architecture and comprehensive expressional methods. In other words, this study contemplates the system of phenomenological perceptions from an existential spatial perspective by structurizing the system of the orientation and the event in order to segmentalize users' current locations, potential directions, the relations with spaces, continual vie'wpoints as well as buildings' functions and interior and exterior division. The system of phenomenological perceptions helps understand and systemize modern architecture through a system based on relations between sensation, perception, cognition, sensitivity, and rationality. This creates a new cognitive system employing the concept of the orientation and the event, which is different from a normal cognitive system basing on the sense of vision. When observers appreciate space, they tend to relate the space to a certain event and to remember their experiences in it. During the process, they draw borders of the space in which the event takes place and give shape to their experiences including actions, movements, cognition and sensation. The process leads to the formation of "placeness," and here, the concept of the orientation comes in as the location and the center of the placeness. This study proves that a determined orientation coupled with individual experience and events settles the place ness; detailed elements in the cognitive system have close relations with one another; the orientation, actions, events, and places are the factors that materialize observers' architectural experience.
Background: The presence of visuospatial impairment can make patients slow functional recovery and impede the rehabilitation process in TBI patients. Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate effects of prism adaptation treatment for functional outcomes in patients following traumatic brain injury. Methods: The subject received prism adaptation treatment for 2 weeks additionally during traditional rehabilitation for 4 weeks. The Patient has prism adaptation treatment while wearing wedge prisms that shift the external environment about $12^{\circ}$ leftward. The patient received 10 sessions, 15-20min each session. Outcome measures were visuospatial deficit(line bisection, latter cancellation), Visual and spatial perception(LOTCA-visual perception and spatial perception), motor function of upper extremity(FMA U/E; Fugl-Meyer motor assessment upper extremity, ARAT; Action research arm test), balance(BBS; Berg Balance Scale), mobility(FAC; Functional ambulation classification) and functional level(FIM; Functional independent measure). All Assessments took place on study entry and post-treatment assessments were performed at discharge from the hospital. Results: After prism adaptation, the visuospatial impairment scores improved as indicated in the line bisection(-15.2 to -6.02), latter cancellation(2 to 0) and LOTCA- spatial perception scores(7 to 9). The upper motor function improved as indicated in the scores of affected FMA U/E(21 to 40) and ARAT(4 to 22). Ambulation and balance improved as indicated in the BBS scores(25 to 38) and FAC scores(0 to 4). ADL function improved as indicated in the FIM total scores 54 to 70(motor 34 to 61, cognition 20 to 29). Conclusion: Prism adaptation did improve functional level such as motor functions and ADL abilities in TBI patient. Further research is recommended.
