The objective of this study is to investigate the functional conformity based on the analysis of the spatial connectivity of block housing using space syntax. Three cases were selected which have important meanings in 1920s. The properties of spatial configuration were derived from an urban-context approach and without urban context analysis, and spatial connectivity and functional conformity were analyzed using references. The results of the study revealed that the arrangement of block housing were different from one another notwithstanding their similar layout characteristics. The relationships between urban streets and housing complexes were identified, and the public spaces were being arranged as semi-public spaces, whereas blocks as private spaces by separating functions. This study provides the implications for the planning of low rise-high density housings by means of analyzing the spatial connectivity of the spatial layout characteristics of European block housing, recognizing the relationships between urban communities and housing complexes.

In this study we suggest that the spatial correlation structure of the brain fMRI data be used to characterize the functional connectivity of the brain. For some concussion and recovery data, we examine how the correlation structure changes from one step to another in the data analyses, which will allow us to see the effect of each analysis to the spatial correlation or the functional connectivity of the brain. This will lead us to spot the processes which cause significant changes in the spatial correlation structure of the brain. We discuss whether or not we can decompose correlation matrices in terms of its causes of variations in the data.
This article aims to explore the connectivity and centrality between environment law and spatial law, where make implications in environmental planning. To achieve it, we used Network Analysis(NA) as a tool for analyzing the connectivities. 52 environmental Laws and 29 Spatial Laws are selected and used for this analysis. This study also attempts to explain the phenomenon through quantitative study rather than qualitative research. This paper is methodologically the first attempt to Environmental Law study, which will help to understand the structure of complex Environmental Law. The result of the network analysis for connectivity between Spatial Law and Environmental Law demonstrates that two laws are in less mutual relationship with each other. It also supports that Environmental Law and Spatial Law need to be closely connected with each other for effective environmental management.

As the demand for environmental-friendly agricultural products continues to rise due to increased concerns regarding food safety and ecosystem conservation, it is becoming important to identify regions and spatial locations where environmental-friendly should be intensively established for production integration. This study aims to analyze the spatial distribution of environmental-friendly certified farms in Jeollanam-do, South Korea. Spatial statistical analysis based on Local Moran's I and Getis-Ord Gi* were used to identify spatial cluster characteristics and landscape indices were utilized to analyze spatial patterns of environmental-friendly certified farms. The results indicated that Haenam-gun, Gangjin-gun, Muan-gun, and Jindo-gun were identified as hotspots, while Muan-gun, Goheung-gun, and Jindo-gun exhibited high connectivity. This suggests that environmental-friendly certified farms in Muan-gun and Jindo-gun were clustered and closely connected to one another. Based on the results of the spatial distribution of environmental-friendly certified farms, areas belonging to the hotspot and with high connectivity should be managed as clustered districts to secure the foundation and system of environmental-friendly certified farms. Areas that belong to cold spots and have low connectivity should be preceded by measures to promote conversion to environmental-friendly agriculture. In addition, it is necessary to make it possible to create a large-scale cluster district through a long-term spatial planning strategy to expand the environmental-friendly certified farms. The findings of this study can provide quantitative data on policies and discussions for developing a model for rural spatial planning.
The loss of connectivity and fragmentation of forest landscapes are seriously hindering dispersal of many forest-dwelling species, which may be critical for their viability and conservation by decreasing habitat area and increasing distance among habitats. For understanding their environmental impacts, numerous spatial models exist to measure landscape connectivity. However, general relationships between functional connectivity and landscape structure are lacking, there is a need to develop landscape metrics that more accurately measure landscape connectivity in whole landscape and individual patches. We reviewed functional and structural definition of landscape connectivity, explained their mathematical connotations, and applied representative 13 indices in 3 districts of Seoul having fragmented forest patches with tits, the threshold distance was applied 500m by considering the dispersal of tits. Results of correlation and principal component analysis showed that connectivity indices could be divided by measurement methods whether they contain the area attribute with distance or not. Betweenness centrality(BC), a representative index measuring distance and distribution among patches, appreciated highly stepping stone forest patches, and difference of probability of connectivity(dPC), an index measuring including area information, estimated integrated connectivity of patches. Therefore, for evaluating landscape connectivity, it is need to consider not only general information of a region and species' characteristics but also various measuring methods of landscape connectivity.
A methodology to resolve a TOPMODEL problem has been suggested, which is associated with the spatial distribution of soil moisture behaviour in a runoff mechanism. A procedure to integrate the spatial information of saturation deficit in the TOPMODEL reflects the connectivity of saturated area in a watershed. The developed algorithm includes an improved basis in tracing the runoff path without increasing the number of parameters. The performance of the developed algorithm has been tested to an upland subwatershed, namely Dongok, which is the IHP watershed located at Wichon, Korea. Comparing with the original statistical version of the TOPMODEL, it has been found that the suggested algorithm can relax an overestimation of peak rate in the runoff simulation.
The present study attempts to provide the practical methodology to determine the spatial boundary of trade area, not depending on conventional circle-based regional analysis, but adopting dimension-diverging conception based on GIS and road connectivity by exemplifying a large-scale discount store with an outlook to enhance accuracy and reliability in trade area analyzing. Unlike the preliminary researches frequently relying on circular form of interpretation which were not likely to exclude obstacles blocking the accessibility to trade areas, the method suggested by the study is to suggest an alternative way for demarcating the trade areas more practically with better access by excluding in-between obstacles. Finally, we show verification of proposed cost models and performance by join strategy.

The main aim of this article is to examine theoretical issues on the 'global-local connectivity' of regional industrial cluster and regional innovation system which have been presented since the 2000s in terms of three different aspects. Firstly, the concept of 'geographical proximity' is discussed within the context of its importance for the regional industrial development by considering relationships of cluster, local buzz and global pipeline. Secondly, concepts on knowledge gatekeeper and temporary cluster are explored with respect to their role of a mediator in forming or transforming global-local connectivity. Finally, policy implications of the global-local connection are presented. Authors arguments are as follows; firstly, in order to improve regional industrial cluster on the basis of geographical proximity, relational proximity which is beyond different spatial scales has to be secured. It means that geographical convenience and inconvenience are required simultaneously for regional industrial development. Secondly, A base of the global-local connectivity is socal capital and embeddedness. Therefore, it needs to understand that relational proximity is embedded into different culture and habit at different spatial scales. Finally, within the context of the global-local connectivity, in order to overcome spatial hierarchy by the division of labor of firms, it needs to consider the complex system which is composed of vertical and horizontal hierarchy by the spatial division of labor by firms, openness and closeness of clusters, and the scope of policies' inclusion and exclusion by central and local governments.
As urban function has become diversified and complicated, multifunctional complex facilities to satisfy new functional desires are necessary. Since local autonomy started, many facilities previously run and managed by central administrative agencies are now under management of localities, and functionally, the necessity for governments complexes town to satisfy diverse taste of populace such as creating local community becomes imminent. Analyzing characteristics by space composition factor of the public health center, newly built as part of such governments complexes town and understanding required area of each part, this project is to be used as basic material for construction plan of public health center that is equipped with local characters while devising construction of the public health center in the governments complexes town. Research method is to analyze four public health center facilities located in governments complexes town sites built after 2007, among twenty five public health centers in Seoul, by spatial functions. Also, based on statistical documents of usage of public health center facilities, research over spatial compositional factors and area composition has been conducted. As a result, connectivity between local government building located inside the governments complexes town and public health center and that of spatial composition factor by part, area ratio by part and floor type of public health center are comprehended. Connectivity type of public health centers are divided into horizontal and vertical connectivity and it is found that spatial composition of public health center is compartmentalized into low level, mid level and high level, to make access by users easier. Level type is decided as radial, rotational and combined by hallway connecting facilities.
Beyond river restoration focused on the inside region of main streams up to now, the river restoration including the outside region of streams has been started recently. As a part of this attempt, the restoration of abandoned rivers has been tried, but the development of a suitable model to quantitatively assess the improvement of hydraulic and ecological connectivity is not still satisfying. In this study, a grid - based hydraulic analysis model to evaluate the recovery of ecological connectivity through the restoration of abandoned rivers has been developed. In order to examine the applicability of this model, the ecohydaulic connectivity of the Cheongmi River Project area in Notap region was evaluated. This model can promptly and simply analyze the temporal and spatial distribution of the hydraulic and ecological characteristics, and it can be used as a appropriate tool to assess the hydraulic and ecological connectivity in the future.
