The recent change of social environment has influence on the configuration of space for the community social welfare center. And so the relation of space and the service function required the change of spatial configuration. The social welfare center fills the role of family welfare, domiciliary care, community service etc. In such sense, this research explore the conditions of spatial configuration for the community welfare service unit of social welfare center in small city. For this study, it was investigated the space role and service function, the service program, the usage characteristics, the room satisfaction of social workers. In sum, the useful data were collected, analyzed, and colligated by case study. It could be used in the basic design criteria of community service unit for the social welfare center in small city.

The design of multi-stage gear drives is a time-consuming process that includes additional design problems, which are not considered in the design of single-stage gear drives. In the previous research works, the authors have proposed a new algorithm to design multi-stage gear drives at the preliminary design phase. The proposed design algorithm automates the design process by integrating the dimensional design and the configuration design process. In the configuration design process, the positions of gears and shafts are determined by minimizing the geometrical volume (size) of a gearbox. However, various types of spatial constraints should be satisfied in practical design situation. To locate input and output shaft in specified positions is the typical example of such problems. In this paper, the authors show the formulations of spatial constraints applied to the design of four-stage gear drives. The design solution shows considerably good results, and the design system is confirmed to be readily applicable to practical design situation.

A relationship between the museum display wall composition and the visual spatial configuration is investigated in this study. From the previous research, existing types are classified in order to define the exhibition space of room to room. Based on the classification, an open room to room of art museum is defined as a room to room of museum, and the plane of museums is investigated. With the museums under this study, the wall of a room to room exhibition space as well as the visual spatial configuration are analyzed depending on the location of an opening, centering on the composition of unit space. In addition, two types of spatial composition are compared depending on the location of the opening. One type of spatial composition is lied on a straight line with visual continuity, and the visual line is found to be simple. Whereas, the other type has an invisible configuration between spaces due to a criss-crossed opening, so the space is perceived to be closed and disconnected. When comparing these two types, the advantage and disadvantage of each space are compared. As a result, a similar type and size of unit space are derived. In addition, the ratio of the opening compared to the total wall was found to be uniform, and a distribution of the opening and walls were found.

This research focuses on how the 'Koreanity' inherent in many traditional Korean houses of the upper class is expressed in contemporary 'Korean-style' houses, and how aspects regarded as configurational characteristics of traditional houses are expressed in them. Three types of Korean house (traditional upper class, contemporary Korean-style and contemporary architect) are quantitatively analysed using the space syntax method to investigate of the spatial configuration and their syntactic properties. The research results show that the spatial configuration of traditional houses is more integrated than that of contemporary houses. Furthermore, contemporary Korean-style houses are similar to architect's houses in terms of their spatial configurations. The configurational analyses reveal that the way in which spatial configuration is expressed in contemporary Korean-style houses is significantly different from traditional Korean houses. This result is in direct contrast to the architects' claim that their houses maintain the configurational chracteristics of traditional Korean houses.

The purpose of this study is for providing the people with the objective method which estimates the various spatial configuration of primary schools in terms of teacher's screening through analyzing structural visual aspects of common classrooms and open corridors for multi-service of primary schools in Korea. In doing so, the study makes use of graphical solutions derived from the concept of 'Frame' which is one of Basil Bernstein's theories. As a case study, it deals with five primary schools designed for open-education. Throughout this investigation, it takes some numerical values of spatial characters concerned with 'Frame', and can have some conclusions about the relationship between the change of curriculum and the spatial configuration.

There have been traditional approaches to model radio propagation path loss mechanism both theoretically ad empirically. Theoretical approach is simple to explain and effective in certain cases. Empirical approach accommodates the terrain configuration and distance between base station and mobile unit along the propagation path only. In other words, it does not accommodate natural terrain configuration over a specific area. In this paper, we propose a spatial prediction technique for the mobile radio propagation path loss accommodating complete natural terrain configuration over a specific area. Statistical uncertainty analysis is also considered.

The purpose of this study is to show how to gain the morphology of the Hybrid Spatial Structures and to get the geometrical data such as node coordinates, member relationships and graphic images. To form spatial structures, we have developed morphological aspects of general spatial structures, programming process and techniques. Structural design has many processes. Especially, it is very important to consider the determination of structural configuration. Regular Hybrid Spatial Structures have complex configuration, so we need to make use of automated computer process to determine structural shape in Hybrid Spatial Structures. We have applied morphological aspects to double layer plate, single layer dome, double layer dome and tensegrity structure.

The study aims at finding out the spatial configuration of a small art museums through the analysis of visual Perception in spatial layouts. In so doing to analyze the characteristics of spatial perception in visual layouts and identity of space to evaluate the spatial construction with relation to the role of small art museums. Purpose of this study is to offer basic data to contribute effectiveness of the architectural planning of a small art museums by understanding of visual element of design and ultimately to make efficient use of space.
