LED backlight for LCD TV is a great alternative to CCFL backlight due to its low power consumption and flexible arrangement. Various LED backlight configurations are being used to control the backlight locally in order to achieve both power efficiency and high contrast. However, the relatively small spatial resolution of the backlight system results in showing artifacts of backlight control that is acknowledgeable to human vision. Moreover, such artifacts get worse between temporal frames. In this paper we present a method of decreasing such temporal artifacts with a Human Visual System(HVS) approach to minimize distortion caused by local backlight dimming.

The size and location of spaces need to be changed for teaching & learning activities in open education. This study is aimed to investigate how school facilities should be rearranged when the open education is implemented in elementary school. Some considerations such as enlargement of classroom, establishment of open space, and provision of various self-learning spaces are proposed for the rearrangement. It is also recommended that (1) a space for research and conference for teachers, (2) a multi-learning space to be utilized by connecting general and special classrooms, and (3) an open space for exclusive use of one grade or two grades be established.

This essay is an attempt to give a theoretical articulation of novelistic mimesis as the narrative form of modernity. With the passage to modernity, what assumes the locus of the symbolic authority is no longer God, Father, or tradition, but the cultural gaze or the ego-ideal. At the same time, this gaze paradoxically coalesces with the "spectacle of the world," on the side of the reified "other": the gaze is both the desexualized ego-ideal and its instantaneous transmogrification and resexualization in the opaque world of objects. The imaginary ego or the eye on the side of the subject of representation is held at abeyance in a state of perpetual fascination and desperation in relation to the gaze as the world of "others," which lies always at one remove from the purview of the imaginary ego. This understanding of the inadequation of the ego to the cultural gaze of the reified world provides a critical fulcrum upon which I base my theory of the modern narrative mimesis as the "perverse" field of spatial arrangement, in which the split of the subjectivity into the imaginary ego and the ego-ideal is suspended over the phantasmatic world of bodies and territories.

This study aims to understand the architectural characteristics and living pattern of the Daor and to make a comparative study with the Han race. This research inquired into the background of the Daor and surveyed the present condition of traditional houses. As a result of this study, the features of Daor's traditional house is synthesized as follows. 1) The arrangement of village is in a row facing south. The site plan and exterior shape is like as the Manchurian race. 2) Making west window and creating a bright atmosphere is the unique architectural style. 3) Viewed from spatial layout and function, Daor's has more remarkable difference from Han's. That is to say, the room equipped with Kang is daily space and kitchen is just space for cooking in contrast with the Han.

As a functionally complicated facility, it requires rational strategy to accommodate multi-functional needs to plan a hospital. Ambulatory surgery units located in large hospitals have problems such as longer waiting time and congestion for patients due to complicated planning and organization within limited area, which raise needs for independent ambulatory surgery centers to enable smoother medical treatment for patients. To design an independent ambulatory surgery center, understanding of zoning and layout of each unit needs is particularly required. This study focuses on research of efficient zoning/organization of day surgery unit and circulation arrangements of ambulatory surgery centers by analyzing various examples abroad, which will eventually help finding appropriate way of planning domestic ambulatory surgery centers. Specific area of research includes ambulatory surgery process, programmatic requirements, spatial organization of the facility, layout of surgery unit and circulation arrangements of ambulatory surgery centers.

In this study, we analyzed the accuracy of the conversion from DLT parameters to physical camera parameters and optimized the use of DLT model for non-metric cameras in photogrammetric tasks. Using the simulated data, we computed two sets of physical camera parameters from DLT parameters and Bundle adjustment for various cases. Comparing two results based on the RMSE values of check points, we optimized the arrangement of GCPs for DLT.

The objective of this study is to analyze and to shed light on the evolutions of factors with the wall structure and their relations with production mechanisms of urban form. this study based on followings; literature review of existing study and setting up of examination factors, analytical review of each wall's current situation and problems, analytical review of each wall's urban regeneration. The significance of this study is in that the study use a contemporary map showing the actual spatial arrangement in the period, instead of using the historical map. We understood the planning methods to interpret the site's historical urban trace and memory. Based on the results, this study presented the solution for the placeless and potential energy.

We report a new configuration of a reflection-type confocal scanning optical microscope system for measuring the refractive index profile of an optical waveguide. Several improvements on the earlier design are proposed; a light emitting diode (LED) at 650 nm wavelength instead of a laser diode (LD) or He-Ne laser is used as a light source for better index precision, and a simple longitudinal linear scanning and curve fitting techniques are adapted instead of a servo control for maintaining an optical confocal arrangement. We have obtained spatial resolution of 700 nm and an index precision of $2\times10^{-4}$. To verify the system's capability, the refractive index profiles of a conventional multimode fiber and a home-made four-mode fiber were examined with our proposed measurement method.

The necessity of maritime sector for continuous management, accurate and update location information such as seabed shape and location, research on airborne LiDAR bathymetry surveying techniques are accelerating. Airborne LiDAR systems consist of a scanner and GPS/INS. The location accuracy of 3D point data obtained by a LiDAR system is determined by external orientation parameters. However, there are problems in the synchronization between sensors should be performed due to a variety of sensor combinations and arrangement. To solve this issue, system calibration should be conducted. Therefore, this study evaluates the system verification methods, processes, and operation techniques.

Pentacene moiety has been widely studied in Organic Thin-Film Transistor (OTFT) device as a channel layer because of high carrier mobility. In this study, we have fabricated vertical type Organic Static Induction Transistors (SITs) using pentacene, 6,13-Dinaphthalen-1-ly-Pentacene (1-DNP, 3), and 6,13-Dinaphthalen-2- ly-Pentacene (2-DNP, 4). 1-DNP and 2-DNP have same naphtyl group with pentacene, but different linked position and spatial arrangement. We have checked the static characteristics of materials in vertical type SITs device. We found that pentacene has as on/off ratio of 14.56, 1-DNP and 2-DNP shows as on/off ratio of 36.58 and 6.61 at VDS = 2V in SIT, respectively.
