양극산화 불꽃 방전에 의한 Ti 산화피막의 표면특성 (Characterization of Surface at Ti Oxide Films Converted by Anodic Spark Discharge)

  • This study was performed to investigate the surface properties of electrochemically oxidized pure titanium by anodic spark discharging method. Commercially pure titanium plates of $10{\times}20{\times}1[mm]$ in dimensions were polished sequentially emery paper. Anodizing was performed at current density of $76.2\;[mA/cm^2]$, application voltage of 290, 350, 400 [V] using a regulated DC power supply, which allowed automatic transition constant current when a preset maximum voltage has been reached. The Ti surface oxided films was characterized by scanning electron microscope(SEM). The precipitation of HA(Hydroxyapatite) crystals on anodized surface was greatly accelerated by hydrothermal treatment. The concentrations of DL-$\alpha$-Glycerolphosphate Magnesiurn(DL-$\alpha$-GP-Mg) salt and Ca acetate in an electrolyte was highly affected the precipitation of HA crystals converted by Ti Anodized oxide films by Shape of Impulse Voltage.

Energy-controlled Micro Electrical Discharge Machining for an Al2O3-carbon Nanotube Composite

  • Carbon nanotube (CNT) and alumina ($Al_2O_3$) are synthesized into hybrid composites, and an advanced electrical discharge machining (EDM) system is developed for the machining of hard and conductive materials. CNT nanoparticles are mixed with $Al_2O_3$ powder and the $Al_2O_3$/CNT slurry is sintered by spark plasma. The hardness and the electrical conductivity of the $Al_2O_3$/CNT hybrid composite were investigated. The electrical discharge is controlled by a capacitive ballast circuit. The capacitive ballast circuit is applied to the tungsten carbide and the $Al_2O_3$/CNT hybrid composite. The voltage-current waveforms and scanning electron microscope (SEM) images were measured to analyze the characteristics of the boring process. The developed EDM process can manufacture the ceramic based hybrid composites, thereby expecting the variety of applications.

에폭시 성형 점화코일의 인가전압에 따른 부분 방전 온도 의존성 (Temperature Dependence on the Partial Discharge of Epoxy Molding Ignition Coil According to Applied Voltage)

  • A gasoline engine automobile uses high voltage generation of the ignition coil, igniting and burning mixed fuel in the combustion chamber, which drives the engine. When the electronic control unit intermits a current supplied to the power transistor, counter electromotive force with a low voltage is generated by self induction action in the ignition primary coil and a high voltage is induced by mutual induction action with the primary ignition coil in the second ignition coil. The high voltage is supplied to the ignition plug in the combustion chamber, causing a spark, igniting the compressed mixed fuel. If a very small defect occurs inside the insulating material when a voltage is applied in said ignition coil, the performance of the insulation material will get worse and breakdown by a partial discharge of corona discharge. Thus, in this experiment, we are to contribute to improve the performance and ensure the reliability of the ignition coil by investigating partial discharge characteristics according to the change of voltage and temperature when a voltage is applied to the specimen of the epoxy molding ignition coil.

가솔린자동차의 유효방전에너지와 배기가스와의 상관관계 연구 (A Study on Correlation of Effective Discharge Energy and Exhaust Emission of Gasoline Vehicle)

  • The experiment was done on traveling at the speed of 20km/h, 60km/h and 100km/h using the performance testing mode for chassis dynamometer. The experimental method were employed to measure the waveform of secondary ignition coil and exhaust emission. In this experiment, the correlation between the secondary waveform coming from ignition coil and exhaust emission were measured in decrepit vehicle. The secondary waveform characterized by the value of effective discharge energy. The following results are obtained by analyzing the data relativity between the effective discharge energy and exhaust emission. The variation rate of effective discharge energy was largest 60km/h, 20km/h, 100km/h velocity in the ordered named. As the vehicle velocity increases, the average variation rate of CO and $NO_X$ decreases and that of HC and $CO_2$ decrease. The value of effective discharge energy, CO, $NO_X$ and fuel consumption is measured badly in case of car with failures in MAP, spark plug and good in case of car with before and after maintenance regardless of vehicle velocities. The value of effective discharge energy is to be nearly parabolic shape as vehicle velocity increases. As the value of effective discharge energy increases, the value of $NO_X$, HC and $CO_2$ decrease, the value of CO increase. The most sensible factors of exhaust emission were CO, $NO_X$, and the small variation factors were HC, $CO_2$.

펄스방전 그라운드 앵커의 확공특성 및 극한인발력에 관한 연구 (Expansion Ratio and Ultimate Load of Pulse-Discharge Bulbed Anchors)

  • 느슨한 사질토나 연약 점토층에서는 큰 앵커 극한인발력 확보가 어렵기 때문에 앵커공법이 잘 적용되지 않는다. 그러나 앵커 천공 홀을 다양한 방법으로 확공시키는 기술이 개발되어 있으며 이러한 기술로 인하여 느슨한 사질토 및 연약 점토에서 비교적 큰 극한인발력을 확보할 수 있게 되었다. 특히, 축적된 전기에너지를 짧은 시간에 방전시키는 펄스방전 공법은 앵커 정착장을 천공 케이싱 또는 비트 직경보다 크게 확공시키는 공법이다. 총 24공의 앵커를 성균관 대학교 지반시험장 풍화토 및 모래질 점토층에 시공하였다. 극한인발력과 앵커 확공비와의 관계를 확인하기 위해 AASHTO에서 규정하고 있는 시험방법으로 인발시험이 수행되었으며 펄스방전에 의해 확공된 앵커의 직경을 확인하기 위해 7공의 앵커를 굴착하였다.

고전압 구형파 펄스 발생기에 관한 연구 (A study on High Voltage Squarewave Pulse Generator)

  • This paper presents the generation of the high voltage squarewave pulse using distributed RLC circuit. The demonstrated test was performed with the distributed RLC circuit which consists of the resistance, the inductance and the capacitance. Pspice simulation was also conducted about the experiment circuit. The result of the experiment was in good agreement with the result of the simulation. Theoretical analysis of the initial peak value at the squraewave pulse was derived from the results of the experiment and simulation. Additionally, the characteristics of the time delay was analyzed about the spherical gap switch and the surface discharge gap switch, respectively. It is concluded that the surface discharge gap switch is better than the spherical gap switch to reduce the time delay.

  • As a part of micro engine development feasibility estimation was done through fabrication and test of down scaled combustor and MEMS fabricated spark electrode. In an experimental observation of the down scaled combustion phenomena where flame propagation was observed by optical method and pressure change in combustor which gives the information about the reaction generated thermal energy was recorded and analyzed. Optimal combustor scale was derived to be about 2mm considering increased heat loss effect and thermal energy generation capability. Through the fabrication and discharge test of MEMS electrode effects of electrode width and gap was investigated. Electrode was fabricated by thick PR mold and electroplating. From the result discharge voltage characteristic in sub millimeter scale electrode having thickness of $40{\mu}m$ was obtained. From the result base technology for design and fabrication of micro engine was obtained.

  • This paper presents the results of laboratory experimentals to remove $SO_2$ and $NO_x$ by a pulsed corona discharge in the wire-plate reactor. A rotating spark gap switch was used to generate the pulse by chewing the dc high voltage. Repetition frequency of the pulse was 60Hz and rising time of 50ns. The photo pictures of positive streamer corona taken by ICCD camera, pulse voltage and current were measured using a digital oscilloscope. Simultaneous effects of $C_{2}H_{4}$ injection and heterogeneous chemical reactions on nonthermal plasma process to remove $SO_2$ and $NO_x$ from flue gas were investigated in the present study

Improving Breakdown Voltage Characteristics of GDAs using Trigger Voltage

  • This paper investigates a method to improve the breakdown voltage characteristics of a gas discharge arrester (GDA) for a surge suppressor. The middle electrode is inserted between two terminal electrodes. Voltage application to the electrode synchronized and amplified by the impulse voltage decreases spark overvoltage from 45% to 57.6%. The decrease is caused by higher voltage slope, as opposed to applied impulse voltage (by 5.5 to 6.2 times). In addition, the GDA model using ATP-Draw was used to analyze the operation characteristics of GDAs. The test and simulation results agree to within 2% when the trigger source was used.

전기전도성 이방성 복합재료 방전가공의 수치모사 (Numerical Simulation of the Electro-discharge Machining Process of a Conductive Anisotropic Composite)

  • For the electro-discharge machining of an electro-conductive anisotropic composite, an unsteady state formulation was established and solved by Galerkin's finite element method. The distribution of temperature on work piece, the shape of the crater and the material removal rate were obtained in terms of the process parameters. As the spark was initiated the workpiece immediately started to melt and the heat affected zone was formed. The moving boundary of the crater was also identified with time. When the radial and axial conductivities were increased separately the temperature distribution and the shape of the crater were shifted in the same direction respectively and the material removal rate was found to be higher in the case of increasing radial conductivity rather than the axial conductivity.
