Louis I. Kahn의 미술관 건축에 나타난 평면구성에 관한 연구 - Yale University Art Gallery Extension을 중심으로 - (Plan Composition Expressed in the Architecture of Art Gallery Designed by Louis I. Kahn - Focus on the Yale University Art Gallery Extension -)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the compositional elements of plan of art museums by selecting architectural works, which have strong symbolic meaning when evaluating value, from architectural works by Louis Kahn. First, the centrality of artworks, which are being displayed at the Yale Art Gallery, is complex. It includes three patterns of Void (spatial) Centrality+Symbolic Centrality+Functional Centrality among the five patterns suggested in this study. Second, the ratio system of interior space, which is expressed in the extension of the Yale Art Gallery, can be classified into the floor and walls. The floor used the square 1:1 ratio system. The ceiling used the grid patterns of equilateral triangles (regular tetrahedrons). It was applying a geometric ratio system when creating forms by using one side as a beam and the other sides as decorations of the ceiling. Third, the contours of interior space, which were expressed in Kahn's works, used the method of forming separate space according to the contouring rule (structural unit) defined by columns, and they were used in constructing the entire space through the integration of separate spaces. Fourth, according to the characteristics that were expressed by artworks displayed within the Yale Art Gallery Extension, the concept of accessibility was not as clear as that of residential buildings, because an approach of respecting existing architecture and context was used, rather than the starting point of interior space, or differentiated circulation, which has the function of a determined position.

지역특산물을 이용한 테마파크 설계-광천새우젓을 사례로- (Landscape Design for Theme Park Using Local Speciality-A Case of GyangCheon's Pickled Shrimps-)

  • The landscape design was presented to a design for the theme park in Honseong. The site is located in Janchuk-li Unha-meon Hongseong-gun, Chungcheongnam-do and an area of about $1,594,001m^2$. This landscape design set the several main criteria as follows: an identity of GayanCheon's Picked Shrimps theme park, a cultural and tourist place for people, efficiency of landuse, and an environment friendly design. This GyanCheon's Picked Shrimps theme park is a multiple place for enjoying, resting, learning, and playing. An identity of this park was expressed by introducing the ocean scenery into park area which was devided 5 sub-spaces: a Place of the ocean King, an Entrance space for a Theme park, a Clock tower plaza, a Shrimp village, and a Distribution complex. Each space has the Theme about "shrimp" and is carefully connected with each other in terms of spatial sequence. By introducing diverse gathering and symbolical spaces for many kinds of events, the site could function as a cultural and tourist place of the Hongsung-gun.

  • `Desire` in this study is not something desire in the used to be-way we can deal with it. This study is to figure out 'desire structure' of interior architecture as a significant measure to interpret the Lacan's desire theory. It is also examines Lacan's concept of desire as defined in the mechanisms of language, in relation to architecture and interior architecture, and in the concept of the objet a(the unattainable object of desire), in the structure of desire as it can be seen in interior architecture. In particular, it analyzed that the desire structure have influenced on some kind of specific desire types what is expressed a characteristic to interior spaces of intimacy, perpetuity, representation, expression. These types reveal the characteristics of desire structure in inner space of interior architecture through negativing and fantasying. The focus on the structure becomes a major issue in almost many kinds of contemporary knowledge-system that starts from the mind to go out to the space in a material or non-meterial(spiritual) way. Therefore, the desire structure reconstructs the Real to make itself through negative and fantastic creation-process. It is important that desire characteristics help detect behind beneath the singularity of interior spaces more than what we know.

Use Case Elicitation Method Using "When" Sentences from User Reviews

  • User review sites are spaces where users can freely post and share their opinions, which are trusted by many people and directly influence sales. In addition, they overcome the limitations arising from existing requirements collection and are able to gather the needs of large numbers of different people at a low cost. Therefore, such sites are attracting attention as new spaces for understanding user needs. In a previous study, a user review analysis was attempted using 5W and 1H, and we inferred that a sentence containing "when" has special information based on the user experience. In addition, the requirements of the derivative activities in a user review can identify more user needs than the general requirements of derivative activities. In this paper, we propose a systematic method of deriving "when" sentences contain meaningful information from user reviews and converting them into use cases, which is one of the requirements of a specification method. This method converts unstructured data into structured data such that it can be included as the user requirements during software development from user comments expressed in natural language. This method will reduce project failures and increase the likelihood of success by enabling an efficient collection and analysis of user needs from valuable user reviews.

소속 함수에 의한 퍼지 추론 시스템의 입출력 공간 특성 및 성능 분석 (Characteristics of Input-Output Spaces of Fuzzy Inference Systems by Means of Membership Functions and Performance Analyses)

  • 비선형 공정을 퍼지 모델링 하는 것은 전체 입력의 공간 분할 및 퍼지 추론 방법에 따른 퍼지 추론 시스템의 입출력 특성을 분석하는 것이 필요하다. 이를 위해, 퍼지 모델은 입력 변수와 퍼지 입력 공간 분할 및 후반부 다항식 함수에 의한 구조 및 파라미터를 동정함으로서 표현된다. 퍼지 규칙의 전반부에서 입력 데이터의 최소 값과 최대 값을 이용하는 최소-최대 방법 및 입력 데이터를 군집으로 형성하는 C-Means 클러스터링 알고리즘이 퍼지 모델의 동정을 위해 사용되고, 소속 함수는 삼각형, 범종형, 사다리꼴형 소속함수를 사용한다. 퍼지 규칙의 후반부 동정에서 퍼지 추론은 간략 및 선형 추론과 같은 두 가지 형태를 수행한다. 각 규칙의 후반부 파라미터들, 즉 다항식의 계수들의 동정은 표준 최소자승법에 의해 수행된다. 마지막으로, 비선형 공정으로는 널리 이용되는 가스로 데이터를 이용하여 시스템 특성 및 성능을 평가한다.

아이웨어 플래그십 스토어의 만족도 및 브랜드 경험 공간 표현방법 - 아이웨어 브랜드 '젠틀몬스터'를 중심으로 - (Satisfaction with an Eyewear Flagship Store and the Expression Methods of the Brand Experience Space - Based on Eyewear Brand 'Gentle Monster' -)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a space design plan for brand experience that can enhance consumer satisfaction and brand awareness by conducting a survey on the consumer satisfaction with space expression methods in an eyewear flagship store. Through theoretical review, brand experience was defined as the 'process and outcome of experiences caused by stimulations associated with the brand in a series of processes. After reviewing previous studies, 5 elements of brand experience such as the sensory, emotional, behavioral, cognitive and relational experiences were extracted. Upon deriving a checklist through these elements, a survey was conducted. The analysis of the survey showed that the process composed of cognitive experiences that promoted to remember the brand was intensively expressed in spaces. Thus, the results of this study are as follows. First, the process composed of cognitive experience should be applied with a higher priority to increase brand awareness, and such a process accompanied by the behavioral and sensory experiences. Second, beyond a simple visual experience, various senses such as olfactory and auditory senses should be stimulated, and behavioral experience provided as an experience factor. Third, brand image and sales spaces should be composed under a single theme with a connectivity. Fourth, in external spaces, the curiosity of consumers should be stimulated with a theme matching the brand image. Fifth, it was found that the visitor satisfaction was higher when formative elements consisted of not only static but also dynamic features. Sixth, among the elements of brand experience, emotional experience should be improved to complete the 'process and outcome of experiences'. It is considered that further studies are needed, which expand the cases of eyewear flagship stores not only in Korea but also overseas, and propose more specific plans and design strategies through in-depth interview methods in the future.

비선형 공정에서의 입력 공간 분할에 의한 퍼지 추론 시스템의 특성 분석 (Characteristics of Fuzzy Inference Systems by Means of Partition of Input Spaces in Nonlinear Process)

  • 본 논문은 비선형 공정의 퍼지 모델을 동정하기 위해 전체 입력의 공간 분할 및 퍼지 추론 방법에 따른 퍼지 추론 시스템의 입출력 특성을 분석하며, 퍼지 모델의 입력 변수와 퍼지 입력 공간 분할 및 후반부 다항식 함수에 의한 구조 동정과 파라미터 동정을 통해 비선형 공정을 표현한다. 퍼지 규칙에서 전반부 파라미터의 동정에는 입출력 데이터의 최소 값과 최대 값을 이용하는 최소-최대 방법 및 입출력 데이터를 군집으로 형성하는 C-Means 클러스터링 알고리즘을 사용하여 입력 공간을 분할한다. 또한 전반부 멤버쉽 함수는 삼각형 멤버쉽 함수를 사용하여 입력 공간을 형성한다. 후반부 동정에서 퍼지 추론 방법은 간략 추론 및 선형 추론에 의해 시스템을 표현한다. 또한, 각 규칙의 후반부 파라미터들, 즉 후반부 다항식의 계수를 동정하기 위해 표준 최소자승법을 사용한다. 마지막으로, 비선형 공정으로는 널리 이용되는 가스로 데이터를 사용하며 이 공정에 대해 성능을 평가한다.

공간 차원에 관한 시각적 패턴 연구 - 황금비, 피보나치 수열, 프랙털 이론을 중심으로 - (Study on Visual Patterns about Spatial Dimensions - Centered on the Golden Ratio, Fibonacci Sequence, and Fractal Theory -)

  • This study intended arousal of other viewpoints that deal with and understand spaces and shapes, by describing the concept of 'dimensions' into visual patterns. Above all, the core concept of spatial dimensions was defined as 'expandability'. Then, first, the 'golden ratio', 'Fibonacci sequence', and 'fractal theory' were defined as elements of each dimension by stage. Second, a 'unit cell' of one dimension as 'minimum unit particles' was set. Next, Fibonacci sequence was set as an extended concept into two dimensions. Expansion into three dimensions was applied to the concept of 'self-similarity repetition' of 'Fractal'. In 'fractal dimension', the concept of 'regularity of irregularity' was set as a core attribute. Plus, Platonic solids were applied as a background concept of the setting of the 'unit cell' from the viewpoint of 'minimum unit particles'. Third, while 'characteristic patterns' which are shown in the courses of 'expansion' of each dimension were embodied for the visual expression forms of dimensions, expansion forms of dimensions are based on the premise of volume, directional nature, and concept of axes. Expressed shapes of each dimension are shown into visually diverse patterns and unexpected formative aspects, along with the expression of relative blank spaces originated from dualism. On the basis of these results, the 'unit cell' that is set as a concept of theoretical factor can be defined as a minimum factor of a basic algorism caused by other purpose. In here, by applying diverse pattern types, the fact that meaning spaces, shapes, and dimensions can be extracted was suggested.

  • Architecture has been expressed a complexity of their civilization with evolving into a living spaces and a crystalloid of culture in the times. So, architecture is always a dramatic phenomenon related to architectural aesthetic and technical expression in harmony with social and cultural issues by the times. From this point of view, we can describe that architecture is one of an important mediators to analyze the integrated trend of time. Specially an expressed building envelop which is a matter of consequence in the architectural component is first visual factor including architectural meaning and historical back ground. Therefore, this study firstly starts an investment for discriminative characteristics of building envelop design in the times, then will take the comparative analysis related with modern age and contemporary age based on phases of the times. This research will give the chance to prepare of the pillar of future envelop design in the practical affairs and has simultaneously the chance to understand of inclusive envelop design methodology by the changes of the times.

한국의 현대 실내공간에 나타난 한국적 조형의식에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Korean Plastic Consciousness of the Contemporary Interior Space in Korea)

  • The three basic elements of human life -clothing, food and shelter- had been evolved through different periods and cultural realms, as their spatial applications show distinct characteristics that are manifested through sensibilities only inherent to its specific culture. Especially in the interior spaces, possibilities to approach them in three-dimensional aspects allow formal characteristics to be expressed that are distinct to the country. Formal sensibilities embedded in interior space In Korea also follows such pattern, developed through various contemporary interpretations of Korean traditional formal sensibilities, including harmony with nature, simplicity, lightness, real and fake, and principle of harmony are being redefined by spatially expressed in contemporary language. That is, traditional formal sensibilitiesare filtered through various application methods such as composition, negotiation and modification, accommodating spatial manifestations to be not simply preserved nor replicated, but rather reconstructed through metaphor, symbol, abstraction and contrast. From this perspective, the Korean traditional formal sensibilitiesis not a notion fixed in the past, but a distinct perspectives evolving throughout periods of time that are constantly reconsidered and reinterpreted in our interior space. By examining Korean sensibilities manifested in interior space in the both diachronic aspects of tradition vs. contemporary, as well as synchronic aspects among various disciplines simultaneously, we would be able to generate a linkage to the dichotomous categories of tradition and contemporary.
