  • Open-loop Octonion space-time block code for 4 transmit antenna system is considered and random phases are applied to 4 transmit antennas for physical layer security. When an illegal hacker estimates the random phases of 1 through 4 transmit antennas with maximum likelihood (ML), this letter analyzes the bit error rate (BER) performances versus signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). And the Octonion code in the literature[1] does not have full orthogonality so, this letter employs the perfect orthogonal Octonion code. When the hacker knows that the random phases are 2-PSK constellations and he should estimate all the 4 random phases, the hacking is impossible until 100dB. When the hacker possibly know that some of the random phases, bit error rate goes down to 10-3 so, the transmit message could be hacked.

  • Self-powered neutron detector (SPND) is a sensor to monitor a neutron flux proportional to a reactor power of the nuclear power plants. Since an SPND is usually installed in the reactor core and does not require additional outside power, it generates electrons itself from interaction between neutrons and a neutron-sensitive material called an emitter, such as rhodium and vanadium. This paper presents the simulations of the depletion sensitivity evaluations based on MCNP models of rhodium and vanadium SPNDs and light water reactor fuel assembly. The evaluations include the detail geometries of the detectors and fuel assembly, and the modeling of rhodium and vanadium emitter depletion using MCNP and ORIGEN-S codes, and the realistic energy spectrum of beta rays using BETA-S code. The results of the simulations show that the lifetime of an SPND can be prolonged by using vanadium SPND than rhodium SPND. Also, the methods presented here can be used to analyze a life-time of those SPNDs using various emitter materials.

  • In the QR Decomposition-based (QRD) decoding class, the system performance is sensitive to the error propagation. Thus, it is critical to correctly decode the previous layers. One apprach to desensitize the error propagation is to propose the optimal decoding order of layers. In this wort we propose a new extended-list Soled QRD-based (SQRD) decoding approach. In the proposed decoding scheme, the solution of the few first layers is extended as the list of promising possible solutions. By doing so, the diversity of the lowest layer is increased. As a result, the system performance is less sensitive to the error propagation than its counterparts. The proposed approach is verified by the computer simulation results.

  • The newly introduced model of a STTC-based Distributed Wireless Communication System (DWCS) can provide the capability of joint control of the signals at multiple cells. This paper has considered the virtual cell systems: the Dual Virtual Cell (DVC), and also proposes DVC employment strategy based on DWCS network. The considered system constructs DVC by using antenna selection method. Also, for multi-user high-rate data transmission, the proposed system introduces multiple antenna technology to get a spatial and temporal diversity gain and exploits space-time trellis codes known as STTC to increase a spectral efficiency.

  • This paper aims at presenting the state of the art, the recent progress, and the perspective for the future, in the modelling of two-phase flow in the horizontal legs of a PWR. All phenomena relevant for safety analysis are listed first. The selection of the modelling approach for system codes is then discussed, including the number of fluids or fields, the space and time resolution, and the use of flow regime maps. The classical two-fluid six-equation one-pressure model as it is implemented in the CATHARE code is then presented and its properties are described. It is shown that the axial effects of gravity forces may be correctly taken into account even in the case of change of the cross section area or of the pipe orientation. It is also shown that it can predict both fluvial and torrential flow with a possible hydraulic jump. Since phase stratification plays a dominant role, the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability and the stability of bubbly flow regime are discussed. A transition criterion based on a stability analysis of shallow water waves may be used to predict the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability. Recent experimental data obtained in the METERO test facility are analysed to model the transition from a bubbly to stratified flow regime. Finally, perspectives for further improvement of the modelling are drawn including dynamic modelling of turbulence and interfacial area and multi-field models.

  • In order to achieve high capacity and reliable link quality of the overlay convergent networks with the cognitive networking based on the advanced capability of the mobile terminal, a Distributed Wireless Communication System (DWCS) can provide the capability of enhancing the link quality. This paper has considered virtual cell: the Dual Virtual Cell (DVC), and also proposes DVC employment strategy based on radio resource monitering. The considered system constructs DVC for multi-user high-rate data transmission, and the DWCS system exploits space-time trellis codes i.e., STTC to improve a spectral efficiency. The effects of imperfect CSI(channel state information) on the system performance has also been investigated.

  • We proposed a spatial modulation (SM) scheme to improve spectral efficiency of multi-input multi output (MIMO) systems by using double multi-strata space-time codes (D-MSSTC). For improving the performance of proposed scheme, we allocate transmit power and phase to layers in each MSSTC, and assign rotation angle to SM codebooks. Additionally, we jointly optimize power, phase and rotation angle to maximize the minimum coding gain distance of D-MSSTC-SM. It is observed that the proposed scheme shows better error performance with high spectral efficiency than conventional schemes in simulation results.

  • This paper investigates the outage behavior of peak interference power limited cognitive radio (CR) networks with multiple transmit antennas. In CR-multi-input single-output (MISO) channel, the total transmit power is distributed over the transmitantennas. First, we use the orthogonal space-time codes (STC) to achieve the transmit diversity at CR-receiver (rx) and investigate the effect of the power distribution on the interference power received at the primary-receiver (P-rx). Then, we investigate the transmit antenna selection (TAS) scheme in which the CR system selects the best transmit antenna and allocates all the power to the selected best antenna. Two transmit antenna selection strategies are proposed depending on if feedback channel is available or not. We derive the closed form expressions of outage probability and outage capacity of all schemes with arbitrary number of transmit-antennas. We show that the proposed schemes significantly improve the outage capacity over the single antenna systems in Rayleigh fading environment. We also show that TAS based scheme outperforms the STC based scheme when peak interference power constraint is imposed on the P-rx only if a feedback channel from CR-rx to CR-transmitter is available.

  • Quadtree, which is a hierarchical data structure, is a very important data structure to represent images. The linear quadtree representation as a way to store a quadtree is efficient to save space compared with other representations. Therefore, it has been widely studied to develop efficient algorithms to execute operations related with quadtrees. The computation of block location is one of important geometry operations in image processing, which extracts a component completely including a given block. In this paper, we present a constant time algorithm to compute the block location of images represented by quadtrees, using three-dimensional $n\times n\times n$ processors on RMESH(Reconfigurable MESH). This algorithm has constant-time complexity by using efficient basic operations to deal with the locational codes of quardtree on the hierarchical structure of $n\times n\times n$ RMESH.
