Layout design optimization of pipe system in ship engine room for space efficiency

  • Recent advanced IT made layout design fast and accurate by using algorithms. Layout design should be determined by considering the position of equipment with satisfying various space constraints and its component works with optimum performance. Especially, engine room layout design is performed with mother ship data, theoretical optimal solution, design requirements and several design constraints in initial design stage. Piping design is affected by position of equipment seriously. Piping design depends on experience of designer. And also piping designer should consider correlation of equipment and efficiency of space. In this study, space evaluation method has been used to evaluate efficiency of space. And also this study suggested object function for optimal piping route, Average Reservation Index(ARI), Estimated Piping Productivity(EPP) and with modified space evaluation method. In this study, optimum pipe routing system has been developed to reflect automated piping route with space efficiency and experience of piping designer. Engine room is applied to the design of the piping in order to confirm validity of the developed system.

  • The home interior market has been expanding due to the continuing increase of single-person households, the craze for DIY interior design, the increasing demands for old-house renovation and the customer needs for good housing conditions. Now the building materials companies are scrambling for the whole interior market share. The heretofore companies have focused only on the single items, but now they are promoting the comprehensive interior products as total interior brands. Besides, they use their own showrooms to share their brand culture experience and have communication with their customers. As for the show rooms, they have got to represent the identities of the building materials brands. And to present them effectively, it needs to meet the customer needs and emotions. In this connection, the object of this study is to clarify the definitions and the characteristics of the show rooms and the experience design through the literature research, analysis the space characteristics of the experience design in the show rooms of total interior brands, investigate their customer satisfaction and present the direction and the effective methods of the space design for the show rooms of the future. And the study result shows the experience design is the key factor to the high user satisfaction. Thus, the show rooms should provide the well-balanced experience with the adoption of a variety of experience design elements. Especially, the experience design elements are needed in the room to display the merchandise. Lastly, the show rooms are expected to increase constantly, so the study targeted at the specific area, Seoul should be expanded to other areas. And this study based on the customer survey alone have a limit to giving the concrete proposals. Therefore, the follow-up studies with the different methods such as one-to-one interview will be in demand.

  • 본 연구는 국내 4개의 브랜드체험관을 분석하여, 브랜드체험관에서의 BI 표현 요소를 분석하고 브랜드체험관에서의 BI 표현 개선 방향을 제안하는데 목적이 있다. 1차적으로 문헌연구를 통해 현재 브랜드마케팅과 시각적 경험적 BI 요소의 이론적 배경을 고찰하고 이를 분석할 공간 표현 특성에 대해서 조사하였다. 2차로 이를 토대로 추출된 분석 기준을 가지고 국내의 4개 브랜드체험관을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 브랜드체험관은 BI 표현 개선을 위해 자사의 브랜드 이미지를 체험관에 명확하게 표현해야 하고 다양한 콘텐츠와 상황을 통해 이미지를 효과적으로 전달할 체험 전략이 필요하다. 또한, 단기적인 체험이 아닌 지속적인 관계를 이어 갈 장기적인 체험 콘텐츠도 필요하다. 본 연구를 바탕으로 앞으로 브랜드체험관의 BI 표현 연구를 위한 참고자료로 사용될 것을 기대하며, 이후 진행될 다른 분야의 BI 연구에도 도움이 되기를 바란다.

패션 브랜드의 증강현실(AR) 콘텐츠 유형 및 특성 (Classification and Characteristics of Augmented Reality Contents of Fashion Brands)

  • This study investigated the classification and characteristics of augmented reality (AR) content of fashion brands. The AR contents of fashion brands were classified according to user participation space and content delivery method. Based on these types, eight case studies were conducted, along with a discussion of AR characteristics in terms of presence, interactivity, and immersion. The results showed that AR content could be divided into four types: offline visit-external information type, offline visit-internal experience type, online utilization-external information type, and online utilization-internal experience type. It was also found that there were differences in characteristics for each type of AR content. First, the offline visit-external information type requires various new content that can provide entertainment immersion to users. Second, the offline visit-internal experience type requires a powerful inducement for users to visit a specific space providing AR content and to participate in augmented environments. Third, the online utilization-external information type needs a series of AR content that can consistently incite users' curiosity about brands and products. Fourth, the online utilization-internal experience type needs effective content to improve users' shopping experience with the virtual fitting of fashion accessories, such as eyewear, hats, jewelry, and watches. Accordingly, fashion companies should create contents that can provide appropriate presence, interactivity, and immersion by AR type.

도서관 복합문화공간에 대한 이용자 인식 연구 (A Study on the User Recognition of Library Complex Culture Space)

  • 최근 도서관들은 도서관의 본연의 역할을 충실히 하면서도 지역주민의 변화하는 요구를 충족시키기 위해 역할다양화를 모색하고 있다. 복합문화공간의 조성과 이를 기반으로 한 서비스 제공이 역할확대방안 중 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 현재 복합문화공간을 조성하여 운영하고 있는 도서관의 이용자들을 대상으로 설문조사를 수행함으로써 도서관의 복합문화공간에 대한 인식도, 복합문화공간에서 운영되는 프로그램에 대한 선호도와 인식을 조사 분석하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 공간 선호도에서 정보공간, 교육공간, 휴게공간을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 커뮤니티공간과 체험공간은 낮은 선호도를 보였다. 둘째, 복합문화공간을 활용한 교육프로그램, 전시프로그램, 공연프로그램을 선호하지만 체험프로그램과 커뮤니티프로그램은 선호도가 낮은 것을 알 수 있다. 따라서 이용자에게 정보 교육의 공간을 제공함과 동시에 전시 및 공연공간을 마련하여 프로그램을 운영할 필요가 있으며, 도서관 복합문화공간은 정보 교육의 공간뿐만 아니라 문화와 힐링, 체험, 소통 등이 이루어지는 공간임을 홍보하고 이용자의 인식을 개선할 필요가 있다고 본다.

시각적 차원에 의한 건축 공간의 개념 형성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Formation of Concepts of Architectural Space based on the Optical Dimension)

  • This study proposes a thesis of architectural concepts and visual dimension systems, and the comparison between steps of spatial formation and dimensional alteration. The second chapter, to form the basis of this study, explains the dimensional alterations and changes of fundamental notion of space. In the third chapter, history of space, architectural formations, and changes of the viewpoint are analyzed as objects of study. The forth chapter presents the interrelation between dimensional alteration and the transition in fundamental notion of space, demonstrating that modern architecture has been born from these cultural movements. Lastly, the fifth chapter suggests possibilities on further studies and the following conclusions: First, architectural spaces have been changed, in accordance with the changes of culture, art and the tools that regulate architectural design. Proportional regulations by two-dimensional tools and depth through three-dimensional drawings are created. Second, architectural spaces gained depth by recognizing movement and time that have induced formations to change, creating various aesthetic backgrounds and attempts. Third, the aesthetic background and cosmologic spatial concept have led the visualization and changes of architectural experience. It created the design tools and shapes originated in dynamism and vitality. Forth, diversification of fundamental spatial concepts has become palimpsest and complex, and been divided into four dimensions; expressional two-dimensional space, perspective three-dimensional space, forth-dimensional space of time and experience, and imagery space formed by body movement. Fifth, architecture has been influenced by the elevated viewpoint that understands the whole world as a space. It has evolved from the two-dimensional proportion principle, change of depth and vanishing point to multidimensional space of movement and time. Sixth, changes of fundamental notion of space have arisen from changes of visual dimensions in times. In other words, space has been developed from two-dimensional space to multidimensional space by accepting visual dimension, grasping distance, direction, depth, height, velocity, movement, gravity, power and structure.

현상학적 지각체계에 의한 정위와 사건의 형성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Formation of the Orientation and the Event Through the phenomenological cognitive system)

  • Appreciating the aspect of modem architecture requires not only the comprehension of the nature of design and architects' ways of thinking and expression but also observers' views on buildings and their perceptive/cognitive stages. This calls for an in-depth study on the "system of phenomenological perceptions" that works as a new architectural experience system. The system of phenomenological perceptions makes it possible to specify the individual process of understanding architecture, that is, hands-on experiences, participations, feelings, perceptions, and cognition. The value of user experience and cognition has been emphasized by philosophical and aesthetical concepts as well. Therefore, in order to better appreciate the modern architecture, this study suggests theoretical consideration to "orientation and event" that are crucial elements in understanding a phenomenological view and materializing actual space formation. This offers the cognitive system with which we analyze modem architecture and comprehensive expressional methods. In other words, this study contemplates the system of phenomenological perceptions from an existential spatial perspective by structurizing the system of the orientation and the event in order to segmentalize users' current locations, potential directions, the relations with spaces, continual vie'wpoints as well as buildings' functions and interior and exterior division. The system of phenomenological perceptions helps understand and systemize modern architecture through a system based on relations between sensation, perception, cognition, sensitivity, and rationality. This creates a new cognitive system employing the concept of the orientation and the event, which is different from a normal cognitive system basing on the sense of vision. When observers appreciate space, they tend to relate the space to a certain event and to remember their experiences in it. During the process, they draw borders of the space in which the event takes place and give shape to their experiences including actions, movements, cognition and sensation. The process leads to the formation of "placeness," and here, the concept of the orientation comes in as the location and the center of the placeness. This study proves that a determined orientation coupled with individual experience and events settles the place ness; detailed elements in the cognitive system have close relations with one another; the orientation, actions, events, and places are the factors that materialize observers' architectural experience.

  • 최근 전시 공간은 공간에 대한 직간접적인 체험을 할 수 있는 영상콘텐츠 공급자와 관람자가 몰입감을 줄 수 있는 형태로 나타나고 있으며, 제한된 공간 안에서 보다 확장된 공간을 관람자에게 제공하여 물리적인 한계를 넘어서는 가상현실까지 확대되고 있으며, 전시 디자인에서 시각적인 요소뿐만 아니라 사람과 콘텐츠 그리고 사물 사이에서 발생하는 정보서비스의 수행이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 전시 디자인의 시대적 환경변화인 사물인터넷을 활용한 전시기법의 변화와 발전방향을 모색해 보고, 영상콘텐츠의 디자인 전시에서 사물인터넷을 통한 공간의 체험하는 관람자의 스마트폰의 상호통신을 통한 정보의 축척과 사용하는 행위 속에서 영상매체(영상전시물)의 사용자 인지에 따른 다양한 형태의 변화를 살펴보고, 일반적인 전시와 사물인터넷을 통한 전시디자인 사이의 관계를 사례분석을 통한 시각과 감정의 변화에 대한 관람자의 영상콘텐츠 학습에 대한 몰입과 현장감을 확인 할 수 전시디자인을 제안한다.

  • This thesis aims to show the design logics and the meta-design of a public restroom "Between You and Me." This work reinterprets a public restroom regarded as the typical public space by means of spatial agency's influences, on the assumption thor spatial agency controls the properties of public space. This thesis examines our representational system against the public space, and our specific experience in it with the conceptual model of meta-design. Meta-design is a design beyond the design usually we think of. Experiential meta-design, "Between You and Me" presented as the object of this thesis, is a constructive design project which converts our negative perception of the restroom to a new one, "interface." This project, composed of the surrealistic spatial arrangement, urges us to reconsider our fixed thoughts of the restroom and try a creative experience in it. Finally this thesis shows how the space's way of existence fixes our acts and thoughts, and what enables the repetitive acts and thoughts often emerged In our relations with the public space through a meta-design.c space through a meta-design.

  • 불확실성의 시대에 현대건축은 다양한 미디어의 발전으로 인해 표현 양상과 전개 및 방법론에 있어 과거에 비해 훨씬 자유로워지면서 건축의 표현 양상에도 많은 변화가 시도되고 있다. 특히 현상학이 대두되면서 건축공간에 현상학적 표현의 방법이 다각도로 진행되고 있으며 건축의 형태에서 벗어나 본질적이며 인간과 상호 소통하고 체험할 수 있는 공간에 대한 탐색이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구는 건축적 형태(Figure)와 공간(Space)을 지각하고 인식하게 되는 방법으로써의 현상학적 이해를 통해 기존의 물적 구조체로서의 건축에 대한 이해를 현상을 품은 콘텐츠의 주체로써 이해하여 다각적인 공간 디자인의 방법을 모색하고 적용하는데 있다. 건축의 표현양식에 있어서 현상적적 접근은 빛을 건축공간에 접목하여 발표한 건축들을 중심으로 살펴보았다.
