  • Due to the traffic congestion of the city and public transportation-oriented policies, public transportation is receiving more attention and being used increasingly However, relatively less research on the design and distribution of public transportation network and limitations in quantitative approaches have made implementation and operation practically difficult. Over- or under-supply of transportation routes caused unbalanced connectivity among areas and differences in time, expenses and metal burden of users. On the other hand, the Space Syntax theory, designed to calculate the connectivity of urban or architectural space, helps generate quantitative connectivity of whole space simply based on the spacial structure. This study modified the original Space Syntax algorithm to fit the public transportation problem and showed how it is appied to a network by creating an artificial network using the GIS.

  • While the use of large scale underground complex space is increasing currently, this research suggests the methodology of servicing advanced service for civilian and constructing active disaster protection system in order to be free from danger problem of underground complex space by applying new ubiquitous technology. Synchronization between virtual space and real space and construction of ubiquitous disaster protection system arc the core technology. Based on RFID, USN technology, usually, user centered spatial information services are presented. it can be convert to disaster protection system on emergency situation without delay. Through these technology. we can ensure the safety of underground space where the floating population is concentrated in, moreover, utilize for infrastructure that presents various civilian services. Then we can satisfy the increasing civilians desire for safety and welfare and finally, it will contribute to construction of productive city and creation of new conceptual market.

  • This paper summarizes a preliminary geoid computation for western Mongolia, utilizing the airborne data collected fall 2004, as part of the NGA-DNSC-ALAGaC-MonMap cooperative airborne gravity project. A gravimetric geoid has been computed using the airborne gravity data, SRTM terrain models and GRACE/EGM global fields. The gravimetric geoid has subsequently been fitted to GPS-leveling data across Western Mongolia, as well as for a special Ulaanbaatar city geoid model.

  • According to the recommendation of International Maritime Organization, the Ministry Of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MOMAF) of Korea provides the real time Differential Global Positioning System service using maritime radio beacon from 1999. Due to the benefit of DGPS service, the need of this system is increased from various user groups for acquiring the better accuracy and integrity. Therefore, MOMAF has extended their service to inland by installing the additional 6 DGPS stations. This nationwide DGPS service will be fully deployed at 2007. In addition to the extension of service area, MOMAF has a plan to upgrade their nationwide DGPS to High Accuracy Nationwide DGPS (HANDGPS). The planned HANDGPS service of Korea will be a kind of long range RTK or Wide Area RTK techniques to provide under 1m accuracy and start their service from 2009 using the various broadcasting and communication media like as radio beacon, Wibro, Digital Multimedia Broadcasting, High Speed Packet Data Access. The introduction of nationwide DGPS system of Korea and its evolution plan will be addressed in this paper. The research activities related with HANDGPS in Korea is also presented.

  • Ionosphere is deeply coupled to the space environment and introduces the perturbations to radio signal because of its electromagnetic characteristics. Therefore, the status of ionosphere can be estimated by analyzing the GPS signal errors which are penetrating the ionosphere and it can be the key to understand the global circulation and change in the upper atmosphere, and the characteristics of space weather. We used 9 GPS Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS), which have been operated by Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) , to determine the high precision of Total Electron Content (TEC) and the pseudorange data which is phase-leveled by a linear combination with carrier phase to reduce the inherent noise. We developed the method to model a regional ionosphere with grid form and its results over South Korea with $0.25^{\circ}\;by\;0.25^{\circ}$ spatial resolution. To improve the precision of ionosphere's TEC value, we applied IDW (Inverse Distance Weight) and Kalman Filtering method. The regional ionospheric model developed by this research was compared with GIMs (Global Ionosphere Maps) preduced by Ionosphere Working Group for 8 days and the results show $3\~4$ TECU difference in RMS values.

Combined GPS/GLONASS Relative Receiver DCB Estimation Using the LSQ Method and Ionospheric TEC Changes over South Korea

  • The use of dual-frequency measurements from the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) enables us to observe precise ionospheric total electron content (TEC). Currently, many GNSS reference stations in South Korea provide both GPS and GLONASS data. In the present study, we estimated the grid-based TEC values and relative receiver differential code biases (DCB) from a GNSS network operated by the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute. In addition, we compared the diurnal variations in a TEC time series from solutions of the GPS only, the GLONASS only, and combined GPS/GLONASS processing. A significant difference between the GPS only TEC and combined GPS/GLONASS TEC at a specific grid point over South Korea appeared near the solar terminator. It is noted that GLONASS measurements can contribute to observing a variation in ionospheric TEC over high latitude regions.

  • A RF environmental field test for the proposed Galileo Sensor Station site was done by Alcatel Alenia technical team contracted by European Space Agency (ESA) and the Space Geodesy division of Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute at the Korean VLBI Hetwork (KVN) site in Tamla University Campus, Jeju from June 21, 2007 to June 24, 2007. Full band and in-band 24 hour observation for radio frequency interference, precise positioning, and multipath on three proposed antenna locations for Galileo signal were executed. The main purpose of this survey is to verify the results of previous test on 2006 by KASI. The preliminary analysis of the results and a full investigation also had been done by ESA under the permission of KASI until the end of July, 2007.

SHORT-TERM COMPARISON OF SEVERAL SOLUTIONS OF ELLIPTIC RELATIVE MOTION (타원 상대운동 여러 궤도 해의 단주기 비교)

  • Recently introduced, several explicit solutions of relative motion between neighboring elliptic satellite orbits are reviewed. The performance of these solutions is compared with an analytic solution of the general linearized equation of motion. The inversion solution by the Hill-Clohessy-Wiltshire equations is used to produce the initial condition of numerical results. Despite the difference of the reference orbit, the relative motion with the relatively small eccentricity shows the similar results on elliptic case and circular case. In case of the 'chief' satellite with the relatively large eccentricity, HCW equation with the circular reference orbit has relatively larger error than other elliptic equation of motion does.

Positioning Precision Improvement of Multi-GNSS Kinematic PPP Using WMN Method

  • Multi-Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) can significantly improve the positioning accuracy and convergence speed. The reliability and availability of multi-GNSS precise point positioning (PPP) is steadily increasing with the rapid development of GNSS satellites. In this study, multi-GNSS PPP analysis is performed to compare the positioning precision by processing the observations from different GNSS systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou). To improve the positioning performance of the multi-GNSS PPP, we employed the weighed measurement noise (WMN) method. After applying WMN method to multi-GNSS PPP, positioning precision is improved by approximately 26.3% compared to the GPS only solutions, and by approximately 9.1% compared to combined GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo PPP.
