In this paper, strain and stress on space frame are analyzed at racing car under crash loads. As the deformation is reduced to a minimum during crash and the vulnerable parts are grasped, the safety of driver is ensured. The vehicle frame is modelled with truss structure by inputting the material property of carbon steel on finite element analysis. The increase of impulse momentum is due to speed change at frontal collision. This influence effected on vehicle frame is also analyzed by ANSYS program. The deformation of the frame is studied by applying the crash loads at front, side and rear directions. Though the influence on the seat of driver is small at frontal and rear crash, the deformation due to impact is progressed into this seat. The safety of frame is enhanced by making up for these weak deformations and these results of simulation analysis can be applied to the production of the actual vehicle frame.

The space frame structure is one of the large span structural system consisting of longitudinal and latitudinal members. The members are connected in three dimension. A space frame structure has high stiffness with a structure resisting external forces in steric conformation. According to many structural conditions, structural stability problems in the space frame are determined and considered very important. This study seeks to understand the space frame collapse mechanism using the 2-free nodes truss model in order to examine static structural instability characteristics of the latticed dome. According to geometrical shape, the star dome, parallel lamella dome and three way grid dome were selected as models. The models were examined for characteristics of instability under STEP Excitations behavior according to rise-span ratio(${\mu}$) and shape imperfection.

Space frame structures are included in the large spatial structures and can adopt various structure types. But, it is not easy to choose the optimal member size and shape because it depends on the structural engineer's experience and the repeated trial and error. Therefore, in this study, the final goal is to help the designer with the selection of the optimum shape. First, various space frame structures with ellipse dome and vault complex types are chosen and the shape generation method is considered to generate the nodes, coordinates and members. In optimal design process of space frame structure, each node coordinate changes according to height variation or the number of rings. Therefore, the auto generation technique of nodes and members is required in order to consider this phenomenon in optimal design process. Next, the shape generation module is created, base on the shape generation method. This module is connected with the analysis module and the optimization algorithm. Finally, the example model is presented for the evaluation of the efficiency of optimization algorithms.
The atmospheric flow in the 3-Cell model of global atmosphere circulation is described by the Lagrange's equation of the non-inertial frame where pressure force, frictional force and fictitious force are mixed in complex form. The Coriolis force is an important factor which requires calculation of fictitious force effects on atmospheric flow viewed from the rotating Earth. We make new Mathematica platform to solve Lagrange's equation by numerical analysis in order to analyze dynamics of atmospheric general circulation in the non-inertial frame. It can simulate atmospheric circulation process anywhere on the earth. It is expected that this pedagogical platform can be utilized to help students studying the atmospheric flow understand the mechanisms of atmospheric global circulation.
This paper presents an ASF (Aluminum Space Frame) BIW (Body in White) optimal design, which minimizes weight and satisfies multidisciplinary constraints such as static stiffness, vibration characteristics, low-/high-speed crash, and occupant safety. As only one cycle CPU time for all the analyses is 12 hours, the ASF design having 11-design variable is a large scaled problem. In this study, ISCD-II and conservative least square fitting method were used for efficient RSM modeling. Likewise, the ALM method was used to solve the approximate optimization problem. The approximate optimum was sequentially added to remodel the RSM. The proposed optimization method uses only 20 analyses to solve the 11-design variable problem. Moreover, the optimal design can achieve $15.6\%$ weight reduction while satisfying all the multidisciplinary design constraints.

For the weight reduction of vehicle body up to 20∼30% compared to the conventional monocoque steel body·.in-white, most automotive manufacturers have attempted to develop the aluminum intensive body-in-white using an aluminum space frame. In this paper, the crush tests and simulations for the aluminum extrusions filled with the structural from are performed to evaluate the collapse characteristics of that light weighted material. From these studies. the effectiveness of structural for is evaluated in improving automotive crashworthiness. In order to improve the improve energy absorption capability of the aluminum space frame body, safety design modifications are performed and analyzed based on the suggested collapse initiator concepts and on the application of the aluminum extrusions filled with structural foam. The effectiveness of these design concepts on the frontal and side impact characteristics of the aluminum intensive vehicle structure is investigated and summarized.

Due to the global environment problems and the consumer's need for higher vehicle performance, it becomes very important for the global car makers to reduce vehicle weight. To reduce vehicle weight, many car makers have tried to use lightweight materials, for example, aluminum, magnesium, and plastics, for the vehicle structures and components. Especially, the ASF(aluminum space frame) is known for the excellent concept of the vehicle to satisfy structural rigidity, safety performance and weight reduction. In this research, the design of experiments and the multi-disciplinary optimization technique were utilized to meet the weight and structural rigidity target of the ASF. For the structural performance of the ASF, the locations and the size of aluminum extruded frames, aluminum cast nodes, and the aluminum sheets were optimized. As a result, the optimization design procedure has been set up to meet both structural and weight target of the ASF, and the assembled ASF showed good structural performance and weight reduction.
The goal of this study is to investigate structural analysis and behaviors of an innovative aerial work platform truss frame whose ductility is improved by using high strength-steel UL-700. The present space truss frame can move or stop through tunnels for maintenance constructions by automatic facilities and workmanship within standardized limited building lines of tunnel. Most of all, this method overcomes problematic, which is to block cars during construction periods, seriously, of typical methods like as using truck and scaffolds for tunnel maintenance. According to evaluated appropriate design results of space truss frames of numerical examples by using a commercial MIDAS GEN program, it is verified that design parameters such as layered size, cross-sectional size, and steel material of the present space truss frame are determined to depend on characteristics such as lanes or shape of road tunnels.

Cylindrical space frame which have a mechanic property, a functional property, a aesthetic prioerty and so on, occupies one part of sin structures and after this, the using parts will be extended. But because this structure is made of network by combination of line elements there are many nodes the structural the structural behavior is very complicated and there can be a overall collapse of structure by buckling phenomenon if the external force reaches a limitation. In design for this structure, we must determinate layer by considering above mentioned property first of all. Therefore this study aimed at the comparison and the investigation of mechanical characteristics of single-layer and double-layer cylindrical space frame on views of behavior and buckling by use of rise ratio.
