Real-time Sound Localization Using Generalized Cross Correlation Based on 0.13 ㎛ CMOS Process

  • In this paper, we present the design and implementation of real-time sound localization based on $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS process. Time delay of arrival (TDOA) estimation was used to obtain the direction of the sound signal. The sound localization chip consists of four modules: data buffering, short-term energy calculation, cross correlation, and azimuth calculation. Our chip achieved real-time processing speed with full range ($360^{\circ}$) using three microphones. Additionally, we developed a dedicated sound localization circuit (DSLC) system for measuring the accuracy of the sound localization chip. The DSLC system revealed that our chip gave reasonably accurate results in an experiment that was carried out in a noisy and reverberant environment. In addition, the performance of our chip was compared with those of other chip designs.

  • The analysis on the therapic music of chinese five-sounds studied in order to the stand ardization of the five-sounds. The results were as follows; The central sound of Gung(宮) becomes Do. This music goes on slow speed from first to last and appears the bright, quiet and stable mood. The central sound of Sang(商) becomes Re. This music mainly uses the brass and the fist appears the heavy feeling but gradually becomes ascending mood. The central sound of Kang(角) becomes Mi. This music mainly uses the wood-wind imstrument and appears the most light and vivid feeling. The central sound of Chi(徵) becomes Sol. All instruments sound grandly in the first part, and subsequently sound gentle. The central sound of Woo(羽) becomes La. This music appears dark and tragic mood that is generally used in the minor key. It is played slowly on the whole and appears lyrical feeling in the process of controlling and quiet. In the future, the study on diagnosis and therapy through the standardization of the five-sounds will be continued.

저속 주행시 자기부상열차의 실내소음저감에 관한 연구 (A Study Interior Noise Reduction of a Maglev Train at Low Speed)

  • A Study of interior noise reduction in the magelv train is presented. Tarin speed of interest is low such that aero-dynamic noise is negligible and power supply system is a dominant noise source. Based on the measurements of interior noise and acceleration levels during running and zero speed conditions, dominant noise sources are identified. After spectra characteristics of noise sources are investigated several noise reducing methods are studied such as STL increasement of floor panels. sealing. and absorption treatment It is found that the most important noise sources are VVVF inverter and SLM in running condition, whereas air conditioner and DC/DC converter are dominant in zero speed. Sine the major noise sources are under the floor complete sealing and high STL of the floor panel are shown to be the most crucial factors in noise reduction After sound absorbing material, which is polyurethan foam of 50 mm thickness, is thickness, is attached to the downward side of the floor in addition to sealing treatment, the interior noise is reduced by 3~4 dB.

Optical and Acoustic Properties of Binary Mixtures of Butanol Isomers as Oxygenates with Cyclohexane, Benzene and Toluene at 308.15 K

  • Refractive index and speeds of sound for the binary mixture of isomer of butanol (1) + cyclohexane, benzene and toluene (2) were measured at 308.15 K. The measured data were used to calculate deviation in refractive index ${\Delta}n$, ultrasonic speed ${\Delta}u$, isentropic compressibility $K_s^E$, available volume $V_a$, excess intermolecular free length $L_f$ and molecular association $M_A$. All the derived properties were correlated with polynomial equation. Ultrasonic speed data were predicted using various empirical correlations like Nomoto, van Dael, impedance dependence and theoretically with Schaaff's collision factor theory (CFT). Jacobson free length theory (FLT) was used to calculate $L_f$. The measured refractive index was also correlated with various mixing rules. The deviation in refractive index Δn and ultrasonic speed ${\Delta}u$ was used to determine the intermolecular interactions.

  • 본 연구에서는 터널 내 콘크리트 도상을 모사하여 현장실험을 수행하였다 그리고 도시철도터널 내 콘크리트도상의 반사소음을 저감하기 위한 다중국소공명 흡음판의 이론적 평가항목과 한계를 고려하여 허용한계를 연구하였다. 본 연구결과는 도시철도 터널 구간에서의 차량 주행속도에 따른 유동 영향에 의한 흡음판의 흡음계수를 분석하고, 구조안정성을 효율적으로 평가할 수 있는 최대 변위와 변위가 속도 및 동적특성인 감쇠비와 고유진동수를 효과적으로 도출할 수 있는 계측시스템을 제안한다.

접합유리용 고분자 필름의 물성 및 음향학적 특성 분석 (Analysis of the Polymer Properties and Sound Characteristics of Interlayer Films for Laminated Glass)

  • 본 논문은 고속열차 객실 내 유리창의 차음 성능을 향상시키기 위한 기반연구로, 접합유리에 사용되는 고분자 필름의 물성과 음향학적 특성을 분석하여 그 상관관계를 살펴보고자 하였다. 기존에 사용되고 있는 PVB(polyvinyl butyal) 필름 및 다른 단량체 비율을 가지는 PVB 유도체, 그리고 유리 사이 차음재로 사용가능 한 PC(polycarbonate)의 동적기계적 특성을 분석(DMA)하였다. DMA 분석을 통해 상온에 가까운 온도범위에서 유리전이온도($T_g$)를 가지며 tan ${\delta}$(loss tangent) 값이 큰 것으로 나타난 PVB-HEMU 시편의 댐핑(damping) 성능이 가장 우수할 것으로 예측하고, 이를 고속철도 차량의 접합유리창과 동일한 구조에서의 투과손실 시험과 해석을 통해 검증하고자 하였다. 접합필름의 종류에 따른 유리창 투과손실 값을 투과손실 측정(인텐시티법)과 FE 해석을 이용해 도출하고, 고분자 필름의 물성과 음향성능 간 상관관계 분석을 위한 기초자료를 구축하였다.

공명 산란 이론을 이용한 단일층 원통형 껍질 내부 물질의 음향 식별 (Acoustic Identification of Inner Materials in a Single-layer Cylindrical Shell with Resonance Scattering Theory)

  • 음향 공명 이론을 이용하여 단일층 원통형 껍질 속 내부 물질의 음향 식별을 연구하였다. 원통형 껍질의 이론적인 공명 피크 주파수들은 내부 물질의 밀도 변화에 의해서는 거의 영향을 받지 않으나, 음속 변화에 의해서는 두드러지게 변화를 보인다. 이와 같은 음향 의존성을 원통형 껍질 속 내부 물질을 식별하는 데 활용할 수 있다. 단일층 원통형 껍질에 대한 음향 공명 스펙트로그램을 정규화 주파수 및 내부 물질 음속의 함수로서 이론적으로 작성한다. 이 스펙트로그램에 측정한 후방 산란 음압장의 음향 공명 피크들을 중첩함으로써 내부 물질을 음향학적으로 식별할 수 있다. 이를 실험적으로 확인하기 위하여 물, 기름 또는 에틸렌글리콜을 넣은 원통형 껍질의 후방 산란 음압장을 수조 안에서 측정하였다. 단일 송수신 방식으로 중심주파수 1.05 MHz인 음파 변환기로 측정한 후방 산란 음압장의 음향 공명 피크로 내부 물질을 식별할 수 있었다.

  • The normal transmission characteristics of sound are hardly obtained due to the various noises and structural factors in a running car environment. It is due to the channel distortion of the original source sound recorded by microphones, and it seriously degrades the performance of the speech recognition in real driving environments. In this paper we analyze the degree of intelligibility under the various sound distortion environments by channels according to driving speed with respect to speech transmission index(STI) and compare the STI with rates of speech recognition. We examine the correlation between measures of intelligibility depending on sound pick-up patterns and performance in speech recognition. Thereby we consider the optimal location of a microphone in single channel environment. In experimentation we find that high correlation is obtained between STI and rates of speech recognition.

  • This paper proposes a sound quality index to evaluate the vehicle interior noise. The index was developed using a correlation analysis of an objective measurement and a subjective evaluation data. First, the objective set of measurements was obtained at two specified driving conditions. One is from a wide-open test condition and the other is from a constant-speed test condition. At the same time, subjective evaluation was carried out using a score of ten scale where 17 test engineers participated in the experiment. The correlation analysis between the psycho-acoustic parameters derived from the objective measurement and the subjective evaluation was performed. The most critical factors at both test conditions were determined, and the corresponding equations for the sound quality were obtained from the multiple factor regression method. Finally, a comparative work between previous index and present index was performed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed index.

동중국해 북부해역에서 음파전달 특성의 시공간적 변동성 (Temporal and Spatial Variability of Sound Propagation Characteristics in the Northern East China Sea)

  • Acoustic propagation in shallow water with changing environments is a major concern of navy. Temporal and spatial variability of acoustic propagation in the northern East China Sea (ECS) is studied, using the 11 years hydrographic data and the Bellhop acoustic model. Acoustic propagation in the northern ECS is highly variable due to extensive interaction of various ocean currents and boundaries. Seasonal variations of transmission loss (TL) with various source depths are highly affected by sharp gradient of sound speed and bottoms interaction. Especially, various bottom sediment types lead to severely degrading a waterborne propagation with bottom loss. In particular, the highly increased TL near the ocean front depends on the source position, and the direction of sound propagation.
