In order to investigate psychoacoustic characteristics of fibers, and to compare them with sound physical parameters, each sound of 25 different fabrics consisted of a single fiber such as wool, cotton, silk, polyester, and nylon was recorded. Sounds of specimens were transformed into critical band diagram and psychoacoustic characteristics including loudness and sharpness for each sound were calculated based on Zwicker's models. Physical parameters such as the level pressure of total sound (LPT), level ranges (ΔL), frequency differences (Δf), AR coefficients (ARC, ARF, ARE) were obtained in fast fourier transform (FFT) spectrum. Nylon taffeta showed higher values for loudness than 2.5 sone corresponding to human low conversation, while most silk fibers generated less louder showing lower values for loudness than 1.0 sone. Wool fibers had higher loudness mean value than that of cotton, while the two fibers didn't differ in LPT. Loudness showed high positive correlation coefficients with both LPT and ARC. Sharpness values were higher for wool fiber group than other fibers. Sharpness was not concerned with loudness, LPT, and ARC, but the fabrics with higher values for sharpness tended to show higher ΔL.

In order to investigate the noise characteristics of the different caviation, noise measurements were carried out in a large cavitation tunnel of the Samsuug Ship Model Basin(SSMB). The noise measurements for a 3-dimensional hydrofoil were carried out at the angle of attack of $12^{\circ}$ and $16^{\circ}$ according to the decrease in cavitation number. It is exhibited that sound pressure level(SPL) increased sharply with cavitation inception. The frequency of the noise induced by sheet cavitation was higher than that of tip vortex cavitation in the phase of cavitation inception. Within the range of the high frequency, in the case of fully developed cavitation, sheet cavitation noise was significantly increased in sound pressure level compared with tip vortex cavitation noise. In this study, the noise characteristics of the different cavitation types were considered experimentally and would be utilized as a basis for the analysis of propeller cavitation noise.

This article investigates the effects of geometric configuration on the vibro-acoustic characteristics of in-plane vibration of a thick annular disc. Disc thickness and outer radius for a given inner radius are selected as independent variables having reasonable ranges. Variations in structural eigensolutions for radial modes are investigated using pre-developed analytical method. Based on these data, far-field sound pressure distributions due to the modal vibrations for a given geometry are also calculated using an analytical solution. Modal sound powers and radiation efficiencies are calculated from the far-field sound pressure distributions and vibratory velocity distributions on the radial surfaces. Based on the results explained above, the geometric configuration that minimizes modal sound radiations in a given frequency range is determined. Finally sound power and radiation efficiency spectra for a unit harmonic force from the selected geometric configuration are obtained from structural and acoustic modal data using the modal expansion technique. Multi-modal sound radiations of the optimized disc that are obtained using proposed analytical methods are confirmed with numerical results. Using the procedure introduced in this article, sound radiation due to in-plane modes within a specific frequency range can be minimized by the disc geometry modifications in a comprehensive and convenient manner.
Three-dimensional(3-D) sound is a technique for generating or recreating sounds so they are perceived as emanating from locations in a three-dimensional space. Three dimensional sound has the potential of increasing the feeling of realism in music or movie soundtracks. Three-dimensional sound effects depend on psychoacoustic spectral and phase cues being presented in a reproduced signal. In this paper we propose an effective algorithm for the sound image expansion in television system using stereo image enhancement techniques. Compared to the other techniques of three-dimensional sound, the proposed algorithm use only two speakers to enhance the sound image expansion, while maintaining the original sound characteristics.
This study was conducted to examine the performance in the space for a single alarm type detector installed in a single house. Three types of houses were used, including two types of one-story and two-story houses. A computer simulation program was used to predict the sound pressure level in response to the occurrence of an alarm sound in a residential space. The characteristics of the sound source applied to the simulation were directly measured and used as input data. As a result of simulation, it was found that the sound pressure level in the kitchen and living room generally met the standard when the alarm sound of the detector occurred. However, the sound pressure level in the bedroom was predicted to be at least 20 dB (A) lower than the American Fire Protection Association standard of 75 dB (A). Therefore, a plan should be prepared to maintain a sufficient sound level in the bedroom space inside the house, and efforts will be needed to ensure safe evacuation in case of fire by establishing relevant standards.

This study quantified the sounds of riffles and pools in natural rivers and conducted a comparative analysis of the frequency and sound pressure per flow velocity. The surveyed area was Namdaecheon basin in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do and the sounds of a total of 23 sites were analyzed. A hydro microphone was used to measure the sound and analyze the data using an acoustic analysis program. The location was also selected at places with minimal ambient noise and the measurement points were the depth of riffles and pools. The results revealed an average difference of 0.515 m/s for flow velocity at 8 riffles and 15 pools. The difference in sound pressure occurred due to the flow velocity. In the case of sound pressure, it was measured at an average of 176.8 dB for riffles and 168.2 dB for pools, demonstrating a difference of approximately 8.6 dB. Furthermore, in the case of maximum sound pressure, riffles showed a constant range between 200 Hz and 250 Hz, while the pools exhibited maximum sound pressure at various frequencies from 200 Hz to 1,000 Hz. This revealed the ecological stream reproduction, development of preferred sound sources for aquatic life, and design of structures.
This study examines the rustling sound characteristics of electrospun nanofiber web laminates according to layer structures. This study assesses mechanical properties and frictional sounds (such as SPL); in addition, Zwicker's psychoacoustic parameters (such as Loudness (Z), Sharpness (Z), Roughness (Z), and Fluctuation strength (Z)) were calculated using the Sound Quality Program (ver.3.2, B&K, Denmark). The result determined how to control these characteristics and minimize rustling sounds. A total of 3 specimens' frictional sound (generated at 0.63 m/s) was recorded using a Simulator for Frictional Sound of Fabrics (Korea Patent No. 10-2008-0105524) and SPLs were analyzed with a Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT). The mechanical properties of fabrics were measured with a KES-FB system. The SPL value of the sound spectrum showed 6.84~58.47dB at 0~17,500Hz. The SPL value was 61.2dB for the 2-layer PU nanofiber web laminates layered on densely woven PET(C1) and was the highest at 65.1dB for the 3-layer PU nanofiber web laminates (C3). Based on SPSS 18.0, it was shown that there is a correlation between mechanical properties and psychoacoustic characteristics. Tensile properties (LT), weight (T), and bending properties (2HB) showed a high correlation with psychoacoustic characteristics. Tensile linearity (LT) with Loudness (Z) showed a negative correlation coefficient; however, weight (T) with Sharpness (Z) and Roughness (Z), and bending hysteresis (2HB) with Roughness (Z) indicated positive correlation coefficients, respectively.

This study is directed toward determining the number and characteristics of psychologically meaningful perceptual dimensions required for assessing the sound Ouaiity with respect to vehicle interior and/or exterior noises. and toward identifying the acoustical or psychoacoustical bases underlying the perception. By nonmetric MDS and clustring analysis of sound quality data sets on our own, of critical importance are two perceptual dimensions for which subjective verdicts can be interpreted as loudness and sharpness. The perceptual dimensions based upon similarity judgments could be accounted for 48% and 24% of the variance. each of which might be a match for the acoustic parameter "A-weighted maximum pressure level"(r= .85) and for the psychoacoustic parameter "sharpness" (r= .65), respectively. On the other hand, the perceptual dimensions based upon preference ratings could explain 66% and 10% of the variance. where the acoustic parameter "A-weighted maximum pressure leve"(r= .92) might be taken to be a best predictor, but sharpness appeared to be less suitable for the description of Preference behavior. Linked to the results, the problems of quantitative modelling of subjective sound quality evaluation and also of implementing corresponding cognitive combination rule for technical and industrial applications, say having "winner-sound qualify" according to preference criteria will be shortly in discussion.
Recently, The demands for the reduction of noise generated by transformers have been increasing. Almost all of the noise generated by transformers is a result of magnetostricitive vibration in the core. The noise radiates into the atmosphere from the tank through the insulation oil. As the noise of transformer irritates residents, needs for decreasing the noise of transformer have been arised. One method of reduction such a noise is to build a free-standing enclosure of concrete and steel plates around the transformer. However, this method has some disadvantages. Another method of noise reduction is to mount a close-fitting sound insulation panel on the side of a transformer tank. Side plate vibrations of transformer are transmitted to such a sound insulation panel along two paths. In one case, they are transmitted through air by sound pressure and in the other through supporting structures. In the paper, the vibration and noise effect which is transferred from reinforce channel to insulation panel generated by transformer have been identified for the several kinds of insulation panel and damping sheet analytically and experimetally.
A dynamic characteristics of shock absorber in the various excitation is investigated experimentally. Work diagrams and characteristic curves are used as a experimental standard. The various excitation conditions temperature and noise are very important factors in associated with the reduction of damping force. It is found that the heat occurrence from shock absorber, the gas shock absorber is much higher than oil shock absorber and increased in high speed. As to the variation of damping force, there are no change when the speed is low but we fixed amount of variation by increasing speed and change of new and old decrease. The sound pressure of the swash noise from cycle of shock absorber, we compared with theory sound pressure by experiment.
