Polyurethane was used as matrix for polymer electrolytes with liquid electrolyte consist of organic solvent as ethylene carbonate(EC), propylene carbonate(PC), and tetraethylene glycol dimethylether(TG) and 1M $LiCF_3SO_3$, which has high mechanical strength and porosity. Electrochemical properties fur polyurethane electrolytes with various liquid electrolytes were evaluated. The amount of immersed liquid electrolyte for TG with 1M $LiCF_3SO_3$ was increased to about $750\%$ by weight, and initial discharge capacity and cycle performance was better than others. Ionic conductivity for TG/EC(v/v,1:1) and PC/EC(v/v, 1:1) with 1M $LiCF_3SO_3$ was about $3.15\times10^{-3} S/cm, \;3.18\times10^{-3}S/cm$
Cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) with 50~100 nm diameter were manufactured from micro-size cellulose by an application of a high-pressure homogenizer at 1,400 bar. High strength nanopapers were prepared over a filter paper by a vacuum filtration from CNF suspension. After reinforcing and dispersing CNF suspension, hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-based composites were tailored by solvent- and film-casting methods, respectively. After 2, 4, 6 and 8 passes through high-pressure homogenizer, the tensile strength of the nanopapers were extremely high and increased linearly depending upon the pass number. Chemical modification of 1H, 1H, 2H, 2H-perfluorodecyl-triethoxysilane (PFDTES) on the nanopapers significantly increased the mechanical strength and water repellency. The reinforcement of 1, 3, and 5 wt% CNF to HPC and PVA resins also improved the mechanical properties of the both composites.

In the present study, carbon molecular sieve (CMS) hollow fiber membranes were prepared by carbonizing a methyl imide hollow fiber precursor, which was spun by non-solvent induced phase separation process. And effects of carbonization parameters such as pre-oxidation, pyrolysis, and post-oxidation on the gas permeation were systematically investigated. CMS membrane having the highest gas flux was obtained by carbonizing the precursor through a combined process of air pre-oxidation at $250^{\circ}C$ for 2h, nitrogen pyrolysis at $550^{\circ}C$ for 2h, and oxygen post-oxidation at $250^{\circ}C$ for 2h. The optimized membrane showed a considerable gas permeance : the $H_2$, He, $CO_2$ permeances were 69.72, 35.61, 31.01 GPU, respectively, and the $O_2$ and $N_2$ permeances were ignorable. Therefore, it was clear that the prepared CMS hollow fiber membrane was a promising membrane for recovering small gases such as hydrogen and hellium and carbon dioxide.
The immune activation and anticancer activities of the water and ethanol extracts from Artemisia capillaris Thunb. were studied. The growth of human hepatocarcinoma and human gastric cancer cell was inhibited by the addition of $1.0\;mg/m{\ell}$ of the water extract, by about 77% and 95%, respectively. The growth of human breast cancer cells was also inhibited by addition of $0.5\;mg/m{\ell}$ of both water and ethanol extracts by 88%. The growth of human normal lung cell, HEL299 was inhibited by 15% indicating very low cytotoxicity of both extracts. Overall selectivity of the both extracts on several human cancer cell line was over 2.5. The growth of both human B and T cells was enhanced up to 1.6 to 2.1 times by adding the ethanol extracts. The secretion of cytokines, $TNF-{\alpha}$ and IL-6, from human B cells was also increased showing $68\;pg/m{\ell}$ and $67\;pg/m{\ell}$, respectively, compared to $35{\sim}40\;pg/m{\ell}$ of the control. In terms of the immune activity, there was not much difference between water and ethanol extracts of Artemisia capillaris Thunb. It implies that the extraction solvent could not differ the biological activities of the extracts. Based on these results, Artemisia capillaris Thunb. can be developed into a potentially useful cancer chemoprentive agent.
The volatile organic compounds emitted from food wrapping films when it was used at high temperatures. However, the testing method based on solvent extraction may not be suitable for determination of volatile organic compounds from food wrapping films. Therefore, thermal extraction device was investigated in the study for reflection of actual usage conditions at home and restaurant. In this study, PVC food wrapping films were exposed to normal use condition controlled from $50^{\circ}C$ to $120^{\circ}C$ and collected on sorbent trap. Then, emitted VOCs from the films were analyzed with On-column cryofocusing-GC/MS system. The major VOCs emitted from films were $C_{12}-C_{18}$ paraffinic hydrocarbons, dimethylphthalate, alkylphenols, known as endocrine disrupting chemical, such as tetramethylbutylphenol, tert-butylphenol, and nonylphenol. The concentration of tetramethylbutylphenol emitted from PVC films was $0.07ng/cm^2$ at $50^{\circ}C$, rapidly increased with temperature, $3.94ng/cm^2$ at $100^{\circ}C$.

The metabolism of testosterone ($17{\beta}$-hydroxy-androst-4-en-3-one) was confirmed in horse after a single intramuscular administration of testosterone cypionate (750 mg). Solvent extracts of urine obtained with enzymatic hydrolysis and methanolysis were analyzed by GC/MS after oxime t-butyldimethylsilyl (oxime-TBDMS) derivatization. The structures of four urinary metabolite after testosterone administration in horse were determined based on EI mass spectra and $5{\alpha}$-androstane-$3{\beta}$, $17{\alpha}$-diol and $5{\alpha}$-androstane-$3{\beta}$-ol-17-one as major was confirmed with authentic standard. Also the concentrations of $5{\alpha}$-androstane-$3{\beta}$, $17{\alpha}$-diol, $5{\alpha}$-androstane-$3{\beta}$, $17{\beta}$-diol, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), $5{\alpha}$-androstane-$3{\beta}$-ol-17-one and testosterone were determined in the urine of normal subjects and the urine after administration. The recovery and detection limit in the most drugs were 86.3~94.7% and 1~3 ppb, respectively. Correlation coefficients for calibration were in the range of 0.984~0.999. Excretion profile of testosterone presents the rapid and large increasement up to maximum values at days 5 after administration and the slow regression. The relative ratios of testosterone, its metabolites over DHEA were determined for indication of testosterone administration in horse doping.
A study was carried out to optimize the cleanup step using a solid-phase extraction (SPE) cartridge, $SupelClean^{TM}$ Florisil, for multiresidue analysis of 16 pesticides in cucumber matrix. Eluting efficiencies of two solvent systems including acetone/n-hexane and ethyl acetate/n-hexane mixtures were critically evaluated by recoveries of target anaytes from the SPE Florisil column. Based on the recovery as a measure of eluting efficiency, an acetone/n-hexane (20/80,v/v) mixture provided more than 80% recovery for 15 pesticides except bifenthrin. In case of ethyl acetate/n-hexane, 14 pesticides showed recoveries higher than 75% while those far alachlor and bifenthrin were less than 30%.
Reaction mechanism was elucidated and reaction condition were optimized for the catalytic reaction synthesizing 2-methyl-4-methoxy-diphenylamine (MMDPA) which is an intermediate of Fluoran heat-sensitive dyestuff. Reactants consisted of 2-methyl-4-methoxyaniline (MMA), 3-methyl-4-nitroanisole (MNA), and cyclohexanone, and 5 wt % Pd/C was used as a catalyst. Experiments were run in an open slurry reactor equipped with reflux condenser, and products were analyzed by means of GC/MS and NMR. MMDPA yield of 90 mole % could be obtained after reaction time of 8~10 hours under the optimal reaction conditions comprising the reaction mass composition of MMA : MNA : cyclohexanone = 1 : 2 : 150 based on MMA input of 0.01 gmoles in xylene solvent, reaction temperature of $160^{\circ}C$, and catalyst amount of 0.5 g. It was found that the rate-determining step of overall reaction was dehydrogenation of the intermediate product obtained from condensation of MMA and cyclohexanone. Overall reaction rate and MMDPA yield were enhanced owing to hydrogen transfer reaction by introducing MNA together with MMA in the reaction mass. Excess cyclohexanone in the reaction mass played an important role of promoting the condensation of MMA and cyclohexanone.
We herein report efficient triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion (TTA-UC) achieved in various non-toxic and non-volatile vegetable oils as a UC media using platinum-octaethylporphyrin (PtOEP) and 9,10-diphenylanthracene (DPA) as a sensitizer and acceptor, respectively. Green-to-blue UC was readily achieved from PtOEP/DPA solution in vegetable oils with the quantum yield of 8% without any deoxygenation process. The UC efficiency was found to be significantly dependent on the contents of unsaturated hydrocarbon in vegetable oils and viscosity of the solution, as well. Though the Stern-volmer constant and quantum yield in vegetable oils were measured to be lower than those measured in the deaerated organic solvent, the quenching efficiency was still high enough to be 93%. In the sunflower oil, the UC threshold intensity ($I_{th}$) was approx. $100mW/cm^2$, which is far larger than the sunlight intensity, but we believe that the UC achieved in non-toxic and air-saturated media was still highly applicable to nontraditional visualization techniques such as bioimaging.

This study was conducted to optimize the analysis condition and quantify the 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline (2AP) in the brown aroma rice. Extraction effect of the solvent for 2AP was the order of ethanol>acetonitrile>methanol in the range from 30 to $90^{\circ}C$. In the extraction time of 15, 30, 60, and 90 min, the 30 min had the highest 2AP concentration, and it was decreased according to lapse of time. At grinding time, 5 sec resulted in highest 2AP concentration. It was recommended that five sec grinding time, using ethanol, at $90^{\circ}C$ for 30 min was the optimization conditions to quantify the 2AP. Hyangmibyeo2ho and Aranghyangchalbyeo were mild aroma. In the foreign aroma rice, 11 of 19 accessions of Indica types and 2 of 6 accessions of Japonica types were more than mild aroma. Finally, 30 accessions of aroma rice were selected based on their 2AP concentration and agronomic traits.
