  • This study aimed at finding out the effectiveness of Solution-Focused Group Therapy Program in reducing delinquents' problematic behaviors and increasing their self-esteem, impulse control, communication with the parents and bettering their daily life habits. Thirty one male delinquents under probation from a Probation Center in Seoul were chosen and given a Solution-Focused Group Therapy for 30 hours. For a comparison purpose another 31 male delinquents were chosen from the same Center. To evaluate the effectiveness of the Program, items were selected and used from Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale. Youth Outcome Questionnaire Self Report 2.0, Brief Family Therapy Center-Child/Teen Solution Identification Scale. Participants' and parents' self-reports on participants' changes and session progress records were also used for qualitative evaluation. The results showed some positive changes in participants' self-esteem, self-control, communication style with parents, and daily life habits. No illegal act was reported after nine months upon this Program, which posits this type of Solution-Focused Group Therapy Program as a viable solution for the prevention and recidivism of juvernile crimes.

  • This study is about the effects of the solution-focused group art therapy which was implemented for school maladjusted adolescents. The pre-test was conducted for 30 students who had difficulties to adapt school life in K middle school at K city, Gyeonggi province. 20 out of the 30 students were chosen to the participants for this study and randomly divided into an experimental group and control group, with 10 in each group. The experimental group received a 12 session solution-focused group art therapy including pre- and post-tests. This study found that the solution-focused group art therapy program improved the school life adaptation competency of the participants. In conclusion, the findings suggest that the solution-focused group art therapy can be a good approach to help adolescents to improve their school life adaptation ability.

  • Purpose: This study was designed to examine the effects of a solution-focused group counseling program on the family burden, active coping, expressed emotion, and family support in schizophrenic patients and their families. Method: The subjects consisted of 48 schizophrenic patients and 56 families. Twenty-four schizophrenic patients and 28 families were assigned to both the experimental and control groups. The solution-focused group counseling program was conducted for the families of the experimental group, but not for the control group or the patients of the experimental group. Result: There was a significant greater decrease in scores of family burden and expressed emotion in the experimental groups than the control groups. There was a larger increase in active coping scores in the experimental groups than the control groups, but it was not significant. There was no significant difference between the two groups in family support scores. Conclusion: This program may be an effective nursing intervention program for families with schizophrenic members.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate how children who are taking online classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic can be helped through solution-focused counseling. This study examined how children's time spent playing games, communication between parents and children, and plans for their future have changed. The participants in the study were three siblings and their mother. The three children were elementary school students and were taking online classes. In this study, the participants were given solution-focused counseling. The data was analyzed using Creswell's spiral data analysis methodology. The results of this study were as follows. First, the participants spent less time palying games. Second, communication between the participants and their parents improved. Third, the participants became more motivated to plan for their futures.

  • This study was to examine the effectiveness of the Solution Focused Group Counseling Program for elementary school students by meta-analysis. For the purpose of the study, master's theses, doctoral dissertations, and journal articles published in Korea up to May, 2014 were systematically reviewed. As a result, a total of 20 studies were eligible for the inclusion criteria. The mean effect sizes and test for homogeneity of effect size (Q-statistic) were analyzed by using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software 2.0. The main findings of the study were as follows: First, the average effect sizes for Solution Focused Group Counseling Program were ES=1.61 in self-esteem, ES=1.35 in school adjustment capacity, ES=1.07 in interpersonal relationship and ES=1.03 in self-efficacy, Second, the statistically significant moderate variables of the effect size for the Solution Focused Group Counseling Program were 'sessions' of self-esteem and 'sessions', 'running times' in school adjustment capacity. Based on the study results, the research and practice implications were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a 'Solution-Focused Brief Play Therapy' and analyze children's responses to its various therapeutic techniques. The participants were three boys and three girls, all aged between 11 and 10 years, living in an orphanage on the outskirts of Seoul. Each child received 7-10 therapy sessions, each lasting 90 minutes. All sessions were video-taped and recorded verbatim. These data, along with the observational notes recorded by the researcher, were subjected to a qualitative data analysis(Creswell, 2002). The results showed not only that children set their goals and evaluated themselves objectively but also suggested solutions to meet their goals by doing something meaningful to themselves.

  • This research as a literature study is to clarify solution method of hypochondriasis through focused distraction. Hypochondriasis is called by various terms such as somatization symptoms, health anxiety, illness phobia, illness anxiety disorder, hypochondriacal disorder, hypochondriacal neurosis, and hypochondria personality disorder. Hypochondria is basically a factor that causes worry, fear, anxiety, and even phobia, lowering the quality of life at home, work, and society. As the quality of life of individuals is decreasing, the field of counseling psychology and psychological counseling has the task of solving this problem and restoring psychological peace. Accordingly, this study is an attempt to explore the symptoms of hypochondria by using the distraction strategy among cognitive strategies as a way to resolve the condition. Focused distraction strategy can be said to be a kind of cognitive 'avoidance strategy'. Focused distraction strategy is a way to avoid being overly focused on one's health. In addition, it weakens health concerns by 'dispersing' or 'distracting' the 'attention' focused on health in another direction.

  • Solution-processed organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have the advantages of low cost, fast fabrication, and large-area devices. However, most studies on solution-processed OLEDs have mainly focused on solution-processable hole transporting materials or emissive materials. Here, we report fully solution-processed green OLEDs including hole/electron transport layers and emissive layers. The electrical and optical properties of OLEDs based on solution-processed TPBi (2,2',2"-(1,3,5-Benzinetriyl)-tris(1-phenyl-1-H-benzimidazole)) as the electron transport layer were investigated with respect to the spin speed and the number of layers. The performance of OLEDs with solution-processed TPBi exhibits a power efficiency of 9.4 lm/W. We believe that the solution-processed electron transport layers can contribute to the development of efficient fully solution-processed multilayered OLEDs.
