  • Recently. with the rapid development in large sea water systems. there occurs much interest in the study of erosion-corrosion. In this study. the mild steel(SB41) was tested by using of a erosion-corrosion test apparatus with fountain-jet and was investigated under the environments of liquid, air-liquid 2 phase flow and solid particle-liquid 2 phase flow. Main results obtained are as follows : 1. The weight loss by corrosion-erosion in air-liquid 2 phase flow are more increased than that in only liquid solution. 2. Effect of air-liquid 2 phase flow on corrosion-erosion sensitivity becomes more sensitive in natural seawater than that in distilled water. 3. The corrosion potential by corrosion-erosion in air-liquid and solid particle-liquid 2 phase flow becomes noble than that of only liquid solution.

  • This paper provides an overview of the trends and future directions in the development of anode materials for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) using hydrocarbons as fuel, with the aim of enabling a decentralized energy supply. Hydrocarbons (such as natural gas and biogas) offer promising alternatives to traditional energy sources, as their use in SOFCs can help meet the growing demands for energy. We cover several types of materials, including perovskite structures, high-entropy alloys, proton-conducting ceramic materials, anode on-cell catalyst reforming layers, and anode functional layers. In addition, we review the performance and long-term stability of cells based on these anode materials and assess their potential for commercial manufacturing processes. Finally, we present a model for enhancing the applicability of fuel cell-based power generation systems to assist in the realization of the H2 economy as the best practice for enabling distributed energy. Overall, this study highlights the potential of SOFCs to make significant progress toward a sustainable and efficient energy future.

  • We investigated the effect of heat treatment on an ADC12 alloy produced using diecasting. The heat treatment used in this study was a typical T6 process: a solid solution treatment followed by an artificial aging treatment. As-cast specimens were solid-solution-treated at $500^{\circ}C$ and $530^{\circ}C$ for 1-16 hr, and aged at $160^{\circ}C$ and $180^{\circ}C$ for 1-8 hr. Microstructural changes in the alloy during the heat treatment were observed. Changes in mechanical properties of the alloy were measured using a micro-Vickers hardness tester. Finally, we determined the optimal heat treatment conditions for the diecast ADC12 alloy.

  • In the present study, microstructural evolution in CuCrFeNi, CuCrFeNiMn, and CuCrFeNiMnAl alloys has been investigated. The as-cast CuCrFeNi alloy consists of a single fcc phase with the lattice parameter of 0.358 nm, while the as-cast CuCrFeNiMn alloy consists of (bcc+fcc1+fcc2) phases with lattice parameters of 0.287 nm, 0.366 nm, and 0.361 nm. The heat treatment of the cast CuCrFeNiMn alloy results in the different type of microstructure depending on the heat treatment temperature. At $900^{\circ}C$ a new thermodynamically stable phase appears instead of the bcc solid solution phase, while at $1,000^{\circ}C$, the heat treated microstructure is almost same as that in the as-cast state. The addition of Al in CuCrFeNiMn alloy changes the constituent phases from (fcc1+fcc2+bcc) to (bcc1+bcc2).

  • The experiment was designed to investigate the sustained release dosage form of silymarin (SL) from chitosan (CS) carrier. Solid dispersed system was prepared by mixing the drug with chitosan. This solid dispersed system was cross-linked by glutaraldehyde, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and butylaldehyde, respectively. The dissolution rates of these preparations were compared with each other in vitro. The silymarin was mired with anionic alginate gel and bead was prepared by dropping this mixture to cationic chitosan solution including calcium chloride. Chitosan encapsulated alginate bead after drying in the oven was investigated for the dissolution rate. The dissolution rate of SL-CS mixture was delayed with increase in the amounts of CS and the concentration of aldehyde. The effect on the delay of dissolution rate was in the increasing order of formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, acetaldehyde, butylaldehyde. The dissolution rate of chitosan encapsulated alginate bead was parallel with the concentration of chitosan in diluted hydrochloric acid solution and delayed with increase in the concentration of chitosan in phosphate buffer solution.

  • Experimental Ti-13%Zr and Ti-13%Zr-5%Cu alloys were made in an argon-arc melting furnace. The grade 2 CP Ti was used to control. The alloys were cast into phosphate bonded $SiO_2$ investment molds using an argon-arc casting machine, and The hardness and microstructures of the castings were investigated in order to reveal their possible use for new dental casting materials and to collect useful data for alloy design. The hardness of the Ti-13%Zr-5%Cu alloy(379Hv) became higher than that of Ti-13%Zr(317Hv) alloy, and the hardness of this alloys became higher than that of CP Ti(247Hv). Increasing in the hardness of the Ti-13%Zr-5%Cu alloy was considered to be solid solution hardening as the Ti-Zr system shows a completely solid solution for both high temperature $\beta$phase and low temperature $\alpha$ phase and also the inclusion of the eutectoid structure($\alpha Ti+Ti_{2}Cu$). No martensitic structures are observed in the specimen made of CP Ti, but Ti-13%Zr and Ti-13%Zr-5%Cu alloys show a kind of martensitic structure. Ti-13%Zr-5%Cu shows the finest microstructure. From these results, it was concluded that new alloys for dental casting materials should be designed as Ti-Zr-Cu based alloys.

  • Free radicals of lysozyme produced by $Ti-H_2O_2$ system were studied in aqueous solution at room temperature using ESR with a continuous flow-mixing. The spectra, each consisting of a doublet with 5.5 G splitting and a broad resonance covering 80 G splitting are closely similar in shape to that for solid irradiated in vacuum at $77^{\circ}K$ and observed at room temperature immediately on warming. The result is assumed to indicate that the secondary protein radical components formed within 0.01 second, dead time of the mixing chamber, and initiated by hydrogen atom abstraction at ${\alpha}$-carbon atom of peptide chain in liquid solution at room temperature are identical to those resulting from the initial formation of a mixture of positive holes and negative ions by ionization processes as well as radical fragments by the rupture of chemical bonds in the solid during similar time at the same temperature. A broad resonance is observed with considerable amplitude on the high field side of the doublet, which is quite dissimilar to the spectra of irradiated solid lysozyme. This resonance was tentatively attributed to the polypeptide free radical in which unpaired electrons are localized on side chain.

  • The creep characteristics of an Al-5wt.% Ag alloy including the stress exponent, the activation energy for creep and the shape of the creep curve were investigated at a normalized shear stress extending from $ 10^{-5}{\;}to{\;}3{\times}10^{-4}$ and in the temperature range of 640-873 K, where silver is in solid solution. The experimental results shows that the stress exponent is 4.6, the activation energy is 141 kJ/mole, and the stacking fault energy is $180{\;}mJ/m^2$, suggesting that the creep behavior of Al-5 wt.% Ag is similiar to that reported for pure aluminum, and that under the current experimental conditions, the alloy behaves as a class II(metal class). The above creep characteristics obtained for Al-5 wt.% Ag are discussed in the light of prediction regarding deformation mechanisms in solid solution alloys.

  • The depletion of solid solution elements from matrix and the change of carbides during artificial aging of 2.25CrMo steel at $630^{\circ}C$ were investigated. The Mo and Cr elements were found to be depleted drastically in the early stage of aging. The change of carbides was confirmed by analyzing the XRD patterns of electrolytically extracted carbides. Four type of carbides, $M_{23}C_6$, $M_3C$, $M_2C$ and $M_6C$, were found to exist in the specimen before aging. The amount of $M_6C$ carbides increased with aging time, while that of $M_3C$ carbides diminished after short aging time.

  • Cu-Ni-P alloy nano powders were fabricated by the electrical explosion of electroless Ni plated Cu wires. The effect of applied voltage on the explosion was examined by applying pulse voltage of 6 and 28 kV, The estimated overheating factor, K, were 1.3 for 6 kV and 2.2 for 28 kV. The powders produced with pulse voltage of 6 kV were composed of Cu-rich solid solution, Ni-rich solid solution, and $Ni_3P$ phase. While, those produced with 28 kV were complete Cu-Ni-P solid solution and small amount of $Ni_3P$ phase. The initial P content of 6.5 at.% was reduced to 2-3 at.% during explosion due to its high vapour pressure.
