The shade avoidance syndrome is a morphological and physiological response when plants are exposed to shade. Recent work in Arabidopsis had begun to define the molecular components of the shade avoidance syndrome in dicotyledonous model plant. However, little is known about the shade avoidance response networks in agriculturally important monocotyledon crops such as rice. Here, we found that the degree of bending at the lamina joint is inversely proportional to the R:FR ratio. To elucidate which phytochrome is involved in this response, we did lamina joint inclination assay with the rice phytochrome-deficient mutants (osphyA, osphyB, and osphyC) and the wild type plants. Whereas the osphyA and osphyC knockout mutants bent at the lamina joint in the far-red rich condition as the wild type plants, the osphyB knockout mutants no longer bent at the lamina joint in the far-red rich condition. These results suggest that PHYB acts as a sole photoreceptor in the lamina joint inclination response in rice.

Despite the government's efforts and excessive investments in the establishment of an infrastructure for animation, it can be said that the reasons for the inferiority in character licensing and weak performances compared to other leading countries is attributed to the fundamental factor tying within the piece of work itself. Therefore, this research is aimed at finding a counterproposal by assuming that the reason for the failure of our country's animation 'Oseam' was because of its narrative tactics. First, it is possible for a narrative structure to be participated by the audience's creative strategy Second, the audience's participation makes it possible to create the character into a multilateral and a complex personality. Third, this kindof creative strategy is possible when semiotic analyses are utilized. The sole objective for this is to provide a comprehensive viewpoint for the semiotic approach in the creation process of the character.

Water environment is vital for our daily life, especially all living things, next to the air environment we breathe. In this regard, Great Britain is known as one of the most developed and well experienced countries which has developed a comprehensive system of the water environment management. In England and Wales, the National Rivers Authority was established in 1989, as an independent regulatory body taking over from the 10 Regional Water Authorities responsibility for the management of water environment. In Scotland, responsibility rests River Purification Boards and Island Council while, the Department of the Environment is the sole water authority for Northern Ireland. Overall results has made by the authority together with their strategies are reviewed in this paper.

This paper presents a measurement of ZMP using FSR sensors, and then the ZMP control with measured ZMP on single leg. ZMP is mostly used as standard evaluation of stability of a humanoid robot. The ISHURO has 5 sensors which are mounted at each corner and center of a sole. ZMP is computed using a model of a humanoid robot and information from the joint encoders. And we may able to use measurement data from FSR sensors at the robot feet. IP(Integration Proportional) control algorithm is applied to position control of ZMP that is an error of desired ZMP between measured ZMP.

Streptomyces setonii(ATCC 39116) is a thermophilic gram-positive soil bacteria which undergoes an ortho-cleavage pathway in the presence of phenol or benzoate as a sole carbon and energy source. The specific activities of catechol-1,2-dioxygenase in S. setonii, a key enzyme in ortho-cleavage pathway, were induced by various aromatic compounds such as benzoate, phenol, m-hy-benzoate, p-hy-benzoate, catechol, o-cresol, m-cresol, p-cresol, benzene, toluene, ethyl-benzene, 2-chloro-phenol, and 4-chloro-phenol, among which the phenol showed the highest inducibility in the presence of 0.01% glucose. More than 0.1% glucose dramatically reduced the specific activities of catechol-1,2-dioxygenase induced by most of the single aromatic compounds tested.

In this experiment, we tested various nitrogen sources and then culture condition was optimized for industrial applications. The batch culture of Candida magnoliae SR101 grown in a defined medium supplemented with light steep water (LSW) as a sole nitrogen source showed a relatively high yield of erythritol production (53%), which was slightly higher than that using yeast extract as a nitrogen source, while the productivity and cell mass were maintained at similar levels. For the optimization of culture condition, the batch culture was performed. When the concentration of LSW was 65 mL/L in the defined medium containing 250 g/L of glucose, the concentration, yield and productivity of erythritol were 110 g/L, 44%, and 0.66 g/L-hr, respectively. The high yield and comparable productivity obtained with a cheap nitrogen source could be expected as a basis for the mass production of erythritol in the industrial scale.

The dextran prodution by Leuconostoc mensenteroids NRRL-B512F was studied in a synthetic medium from sucrose as a sole carbon source. Especially, effect of nitrogen source was treated and compared in this study. In oder to maximize the cell growth and dextran produtivity through fermentation two nitrogen sources, yeast extract and tryptone, were used with various concentrations. At the end of fermentation, when the concentration of yeast extract was 9g/L we can obtain the maximum dry cell weight(14.1g/L), dextran dry weight(25.4g/L) and productivity(1.4g/L ${\cdot}$ hr).

This research was carried to investigate the effects of several organic solvents on the enzymatic transphosphatidylation in emulsion and two-phase solvent systems. The solvents having a similar dielectric constant with diethylether were effective for the enzyme activity. Diethylether and butylacetate were the most effective solvents, when added 12-15%(v/v) and 10-40%(v/v), respectively, for the synthesis of phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethyleneglycol and phosphatidylpropyleneglycol. In the emulsion system, the size of ovolecithin liposome was increased and the clearness of the phospholipid bilayer was reduced as increasing the diethylether concentration. In the twophase solvent system, the rapidest reaction was obtained when water-organic solvent ratio was close to 1. The ratio of aqueous phase. however, should be lowered to 37% to gain the sole product of transphosphatidy1ation, without phosphatidohydrolysis.

Carbon monoxide (CO)-utilizing acetogens were enriched and KIST612 isolated from anaerobic digester fluid was selected for its abilities to tolerate high CO and acetate concentration. The isolate KIST612 was identified as Eubacterium limosum based on the morphological and biochemical characteristics, G+C content of DNA and 16S rRNA sequence analysis. E. limosum KIST612 produced acetate and butyrate from CO. The optimum temperature and pH for the growth and acids formations were 37$\cdot $C and 7.0, respectively. The growth rate and acids productivity of E. limosum KIST612 were higher than those of any other known acetogens when CO was used as the sole energy and carbon source.

Nutritive value of lipids was associated with composition of fatty acid. Unvalance diet may increase the incidence of diseases. Abundant of EPA and DHA, polyunsaturated fatty acid, were contained in fishes. Studies on 10 kinds of fishes, lipid components were determined. The results were as follows; 1. The content of crude fat 18.1% were high in eels, on the contrary the content of EPA 0.1% and DHA 0.1% were low. The content of crude fat were low in mackeral and sadrine, but the content of poly unsaturated fatty acid were high. 2. Iodine value 189 was high in sadrine, consequently, this results showed the interrelation between Iodine value and the content of polyunsaturated number. 3. The content of crude fat 1.3% in flounder(sole) were low and the content of cholesterol 20 mg% were lowest in present studies.
