In tomato perlite bag culture, the available water content was analyzed for several sorts of perlite so that the irrigation safety was investigated and thus the irrigation strategy controlled by time clock was established. The reduction trends of water content in perlite bags were monitored for tomatoes, of which fruits were harvested until the fifth cluster. The amount of daily reduction of water in the bag was on the decrease as the total water in the bag was decreased. In terms of time interval from when the water content based on weight was reduced more than 50g to when it was dropped again, the longest time interval in a day was retarded gradually. It means plant activity was recovered later than the previous day. The available water content in perlite bag of 40 liters was about 30% which was 12 kg in weight, which satisfied daily water demand of 6 tomato plants. The appropriate time irrigated by time clock was recommended for the case that it was irrigated 5 or 10 times a day with the daily integrated solar radiation of 601 or $1,519W/m^2$.

Generation of weather forecasts at 100 m resolution through a statistical downscaling process was implemented by Korea Meteorological Administration Post- Processing (KMAPP) system. The KMAPP data started to be used in various industries such as hydrologic, agricultural, and renewable energy, sports, etc. Cheorwon area and Jeonbuk area have horizontal planes in a relatively wide range in Korea, where there are many complex mountainous areas. Cheorwon, which has a large number of in-situ and remotely sensed phenological data over large-scale rice paddy cultivation areas, is considered as an appropriate area for verifying KMAPP prediction performance in agricultural areas. In this study, the performance of predicting KMAPP temperature changes according to ecological changes in agricultural areas in Cheorwon was compared and verified using KMA and National Center for AgroMeteorology (NCAM) observations. Also, during the heat wave in Jeonbuk Province, solar radiation forecast was verified using Automated Synoptic Observing System (ASOS) data to review the usefulness of KMAPP forecast data as input data for application models such as livestock heat stress models. Although there is a limit to the need for more cases to be collected and selected, the improvement in post-harvest temperature forecasting performance in agricultural areas over ordinary residential areas has led to indirect guesses of the biophysical and phenological effects on forecasting accuracy. In the case of solar radiation prediction, it is expected that KMAPP data will be used in the application model as detailed regional forecast data, as it tends to be consistent with observed values, although errors are inevitable due to human activity in agricultural land and data unit conversion.

Solid-state alkaline water electrolysis is a promising method for producing hydrogen using renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power. Despite active investigations of component development for anion exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE), understanding of the device performance remains insufficient for the commercialization of AEMWE. The study of assembled AEMWE devices is essential to validate the activity and stability of developed catalysts and electrolyte membranes, as well as the dependence of the performance on the device operating conditions. Herein, we review the development of catalysts and membranes reported by different AEMWE companies such as ACTA S.p.A. and Proton OnSite and device operating conditions that significantly affect the AEMWE performance. For example, $CuCoO_x$ and $LiCoO_2$ have been studied as oxygen evolution catalysts by Acta S.p.A and Proton OnSite, respectively. Anion exchange membranes based on polyethylene and polysulfone are also investigated for use as electrolyte membranes in AEMWE devices. In addition, operation factors, including temperature, electrolyte concentration and acidity, and solution feed methods, are reviewed in terms of their influence on the AEMWE performance. The reaction rate of water splitting generally increases with increase in operating temperature because of the facilitated kinetics and higher ion conductivity. The effect of solution feeding configuration on the AEMWE performance is explained, with a brief discussion on current AEMWE performance and device durability.
The concept of sensible temperature in winter is an attempt to quantify the sensation of cold by dry-bulb temperature combined with wind speed. Siple-Passel’s windchill equivalent temperature originated in experiments that are not conformable to various human conditions. Therefore, many investigators have found the flaws which are listed. Steadman’s model is based on the concept of thermal equilibrium and more sound and more representative of human conditions. But no classifications exist for Steadman’s windchill equivalent temperature, yet. The JAG/TI-model which was developed by US and Canada is more accurate, easy to understand and reflects human beings by conducting experiments using human volunteers but didn't take into account solar radiation, wet condition and physical state of the individual. Because of individual differences in people’s age, activity, health, metabolic rate, etc., no experimental evidence exists to suggest whether Siple-Passel’s, Steadman’s and JAG/TI-model’s windchill equivalent temperature is more applicable to the majority of people. Therefore we need the windchill model which is best applicable to Korean Army.
An alkalophilic bacterium producing alkaline protease was isolated from waste water and solar saltern sample and identified as Bacillus pseudofirmus HS-54 based on morphological, biochemical characteristics as well as 16S-rRNA gene sequencing. The HS-54 protease was purified to homogeneity using ammonium sulfate precipitation, DEAE cellulose column chromatography, and sephadex G-100 gel filtration with a 4.0 purification fold. The molecular mass of the purified enzyme was estimated by SDS-PAGE to be 27 kDa. The optimal pH and temperature for the purified protease activity were 10.0 and $50^{\circ}C$, respectively. The purified enzyme was relatively stable at the pH range of 6.0-11.0 and at the temperature below $50^{\circ}C$. This enzyme was activated by $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ and inhibited by $Hg^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$, $Zn^{2+}$, $Al^{3+}$, $Ag^{2+}$. And this enzyme was strongly inhibited by PMSF, suggesting that it belongs to the serine protease superfamily.

In this paper, results on the orbit analysis for the KOMPSAT-2 satellite using a real orbit data during the LEOP and normal mission lifetime are presented. In particular, the preparation and performance of an orbit operations during the LEOP is emphasized and the effects of space environments (i.e., Solar activity) on orbit evolutions are investigated comparing to those of the KOMPSAT-1 satellite. The summarized results in this paper would be an important reference to improve the stability and effectiveness of satellite operations during the LEOP and normal mission lifetime in case of LEO satellites such as successors of KOMPSAT-2 (i.e., KOMPSAT-3, KOMPSAT-3A, KOMPSAT-5).

Now, the study is activity that the energy market depending on a fossil fuel tend to change different way. In middle of the study compositive use of renewable energy(fuel cell and wind power, solar cell, etc.) is dispersion power system which concern is increasing. But in the case of generation of electric wind power system is changeable to be turbulence and wind and win speed are changeable in several seconds, so making the best of wind energy the MPPT that role in this case is important. In this paper suggest a MPPT which is making a use of information of wind speed and turning speed, windmill, electric power but it is simpler than former way. We could verify that a proposed controller working at the highest point of electric power when wind speed is regular speed and changable speed through the simulation.

Skin aging is the most readily observable process involved in human aging. Ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation causes photo-oxidation via generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby damaging the nucleus and cytoplasm of skin cells and ultimately leading to cell death. Recent studies have shown that high levels of solar UVB irradiation induce the synthesis of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in skin fibroblasts, causing photo-aging and tumor progression. The MMP family is involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes such as arthritis and metastasis. We investigated the effect of diphlorethohydroxycarmalol (DPHC) against damage induced by UVB radiation in human skin keratinocytes. In UVB-irradiated cells, DPHC significantly reduced expression of MMP mRNA and protein, as well as activation of MMPs. Furthermore, DPHC reduced phosphorylation of ERK and JNK, which act upstream of c-Fos and c-Jun, respectively; consequently, DPHC inhibited the expression of c-Fos and c-Jun, which are key components of activator protein-1 (AP-1, up-regulator of MMPs). Additionally, DPHC abolished the DNA-binding activity of AP-1, and thereby prevented AP-1-mediated transcriptional activation. These data demonstrate that by inactivating ERK and JNK, DPHC inhibits induction of MMPs triggered by UVB radiation.

DubaiSat-2 is the first satellite developed in Korea equipped with a hall-effect thruster. In this paper, the performance of the DubaiSat-2 hall-effect thruster is verified by analyzing the orbit information of DubaiSat-2. The preparation and performance of orbit operations during 8 months after launch (2013.11.21., UTC) is emphasized and the effects of solar activity on orbit evolution is analyzed. In particular, the hall-effect thruster's thrust is estimated by analyzing difference between observed orbit evolution and predicted orbit. As a result, the estimated thrust is similar to the ground experiment result of 11 mN. The summarized result in this paper would be important reference to improve the stability and effectiveness of satellite operation during the early operation and normal mission lifetime in case of low Earth orbit satellites.
Closely arranged CdSe and Zn doped CdSe vertical nanorod bundles were grown directly on FTO coated glass by using electrodeposition method. Structural analysis by XRD showed the hexagonal phase without any precipitates related to Zn. FE-SEM image showed end capped vertically aligned nanorods arranged closely. From the UV-vis transmittance spectra, band gap energy was found to vary between 1.94 and 1.98 eV due to the incorporation of Zn. Solar cell parameters were obtained by assembling photoelectrochemical cells using CdSe and CdSe:Zn photoanodes, Pt cathode and polysulfide (1M $Na_2S$ + 1M S + 1M NaOH) electrolyte. The efficiency was found to increase from 0.16 to 0.22 upon Zn doping. Electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) indicate that the charge-transfer resistance on the FTO/CdSe/polysulfide interface was greater than on FTO/CdSe:Zn/polysulfide. Cyclic voltammetry results also indicate that the FTO/CdSe:Zn/polysulfide showed higher activity towards polysulfide redox reaction than that of FTO/CdSe/polysulfide.
