It is important to reduce optical losses from front surface reflection to improve the efficiency of crystalline silicon solar cells. Surface texturing by isotropic etching with acid solution based on HF and $HNO_3$ is one of the promising methods that can reduce surface reflectance. Anisotropic texturing with alkali solution is not suitable for multicrystalline silicon wafers because of its various grain orientations. In this paper, we textured multicrystalline silicon wafers by simple wet chemical etching using acid solution to reduce front surface reflectance. After that, surface morphology of textured wafer was observed by Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) and Atomic Force Microscope(AFM), surface reflectance was measured in wavelength from 400nm to 1000nm. We obtained 29.29% surface reflectance by isotropic texturing with acid solution in wavelength from 400nm to 1000nm for fabrication of multicrystalline silicon solar cells.

Multicrystalline silicon(mc-Si) solar cells are steadily increasing their share of the PV market due to the lower material costs. However, commercial mc-Si solar cells have lower efficiency than singlecrystalline silicon solar cells. To improve efficiency of mc-Si solar cells, it is important to reduce optical losses from front surface reflection. Isotropic etching with acid solution based on hydrofluoric acid(HF) and nitric acid$(HNO_3)$ is one of the promising methods that can reduce surface reflectance for mc-Si solar cells. Anisotropic etching is not suitable for mc-Si because of its various grain orientations. In this paper, we isotropically etched mc-Si using acid solution. After that, etched surface was observed by Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) and surface reflectance was measured. We obtained 29.29% surface reflectance by isotropic etching with acid solution in wavelength from 400nm to 1000nm for fabrication of mc-Si solar cells.

In this paper, $Al_2O_3$ film deposited by thermal atomic layer deposition (ALD) with diluted $NH_4OH$ instead of $H_2O$ was suggested for passivation layer and anti-reflection (AR) coating of the p-type crystalline Si (c-Si) solar cell application. It was confirmed that the deposition rate and refractive index of $Al_2O_3$ film was proportional to the $NH_4OH$ concentration. $Al_2O_3$ film deposited with 5 % $NH_4OH$ has the greatest negative fixed oxide charge density ($Q_f$), which can be explained by aluminum vacancies ($V_{Al}$) or oxygen interstitials ($O_i$) under O-rich condition. $Al_2O_3$ film deposited with $NH_4OH$ 5 % condition also shows lower interface trap density ($D_{it}$) distribution than those of other conditions. At $NH_4OH$ 5 % condition, moreover, $Al_2O_3$ film shows the highest excess carrier lifetime (${\tau}_{PCD}$) and the lowest surface recombination velocity ($S_{eff}$), which are linked with its passivation properties. The proposed $Al_2O_3$ film deposited with diluted $NH_4OH$ is very promising for passivation layer and AR coating of the p-type c-Si solar cell.

Reduction of optical losses in crystalline silicon solar cells by surface modification is one of the most important issues of silicon photovoltaics. Porous Si layers on the front surface of textured Si substrates have been investigated with the aim of improving the optical losses of the solar cells, because an anti-reflection coating(ARC) and a surface passivation can be obtained simultaneously in one process. We have demonstrated the feasibility of a very efficient porous Si ARC layer, prepared by a simple, cost effective, electrochemical etching method. Silicon p-type CZ (100) oriented wafers were textured by anisotropic etching in sodium carbonate solution. Then, the porous Si layers were formed by electrochemical etching in HF solutions. After that, the properties of porous Si in terms of morphology, structure and reflectance are summarized. The structure of porous Si layers was investigated with SEM. The formation of a nanoporous Si layer about 100nm thick on the textured silicon wafer result in a reflectance lower than 5% in the wavelength region from 500 to 900nm. Such a surface modification allows improving the Si solar cell characteristics. An efficiency of 13.4% is achieved on a monocrystalline silicon solar cell using the electrochemical technique.

Surface Texturing is an essential process for high efficiency in multi-crystalline silicon solar cell. In order to reduce the reflectivity, there are two major methods; proper surface texturing and anti-reflection coating. For texturization, wet chemical etching is a typical method for multi-crystalline silicon. The chemical solution for wet etching consists of HF, $NHO_3$, DI and $CH_3COOH$. We carried out texturization by the change of etching time like 15sec, 30sec, 45sec, 60sec and measured the reflectivity of textured wafers. As making the silicon solar cells, we obtained the conversion efficiency and relationship between texturing condition and solar cell characteristics. The reflectivity from 300nm to 1200nm was the lowest with 15 sec texturing time and 60 sec texturing time showed almost same reflectivity as bare one. The 45 sec texturing time showed the highest conversion efficiency.
In this study general solar cell production process was complemented, with research on improvement of solar cell efficiency through surface structure and thermal annealing process. Firstly, to form the pyramid structure, the saw damage removal (SDR) processed surface was undergone texturing process with reactive ion etching (RIE). Then, for the formation of smooth pyramid structure to facilitate uniform doping and electrode formation, the surface was etched with HND(HF : HNO3 : D.I. water=5 : 100 : 100) solution. Notably, due to uniform doping the leakage current decreased greatly. Also, for the enhancement and maintenance of minority carrier lifetime, antireflection coating thermal annealing was done. To maintain this increased lifetime, front electrode was formed through Au plating process without high temperature firing process. Through these changes in two processes, the leakage current effect could be decreased and furthermore, the conversion efficiency could be increased. Therefore, compared to the general solar cell with a conversion efficiency of 15.89%, production of high efficiency solar cell with a conversion efficiency of 17.24% was made possible.

This paper represents modeling and optimization techniques for solar cell process on single-crystalline float zone (FZ) wafers with high efficiency; There were the four significant processes : i)emitter formation by diffusion, anti-reflection-coating (ARC) with silicon nitride using plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD); iii)screen-printing for front and back metallization; and iv)contact formation by firing. In order to increase the performance of solar cells, the contact formation process is modeled and optimized. This paper utilizes the design of experiments (DOE) in contact formation to reduce process time, fabrication costs. The experiments were designed by using central composite design which is composed of $2^4$ factorial design augmented by 8 axial points with three center points. After contact formation process, the efficiency of the solar cell is modeled using neural networks. This model is used to analyse the characteristics of the process, and to optimize the process condition using genetic algorithms (GA). Finally, find optimal recipe for solar cell efficiency.

The demand for a rear reflective material is continuing according to the expansion of the bifacial soar module and the effect on the re-reflection of the ground using a back sheet that is not used due to the increase in the supply of the bifacial solar module was confirmed. For analysis, a bifacial solar module with an output of 445W was connected to a single inverter of 49.84kW, and analysis of each two inverters was carried out. In the analysis of the results, it was confirmed that the generation amount increased by 5.25% compared to the case where the back sheet reflective film was not installed and it was confirmed that the increase in the generation amount was the noon time when strong solar radiation was irradiated, not the time of sunrise and sunset.

In the existing photovoltaic generation system, the system equipped with the reflecting plate is a method in which solar energy (insolation) is concentrated on the surface of the photovoltaic module. However, the solar energy (insolation) lost by being reflected back through the solar module is not considered. Although a method of increasing the amount of power generated by installing a reflector around the solar modules has been proposed, this affects the power generation degradation caused by the shading of other solar modules. Therefore, in order to improve this problem, in this paper, 1) without affecting the development of photovoltaic module according to the shade, 2) photovoltaic module using a reflector rotating the solar energy (insolation) lost by the solar module Study and suggest how to join again. Therefore, the loss of solar energy (insolation) can be minimized through the method of recycling the solar energy according to the countless reflection angle of the lost solar energy (insolation). As a result, it is possible to increase the amount of power generation of the photovoltaic generation system by maximizing the amount of power generation for the same solar radiation.

There are terrestrial signatures of the solar activity cycle in ice core data (Ram & Stoltz 1999), but the variations in the sun's irradiance over the cycle seem too small to account for the signature (Lean 1997; Goode & Dziembowski 2003). Thus, one would expect that the signature must arise from an indirect effect(s) of solar activity. Such an indirect effect would be expected to manifest itself in the earth's reflectance. Further, the earth's climate depends directly on the albedo. Continuous observations of the earthshine have been carried out from Big Bear Solar Observatory since December 1998, with some more sporadic measurements made during the years 1994 and 1995. We have determined the annual albedos both from our observations and from simulations utilizing the Earth Radiation Budget Experiment (ERBE) scene model and various datasets for the cloud cover, as well as snow and ice cover. With these, we look for inter-annual and longer-term changes in the earth's total reflectance, or Bond albedo. We find that both our observations and simulations indicate that the albedo was significantly higher during 1994-1995 (activity minimum) than for the more recent period covering 1999-2001 (activity maximum). However, the sizes of the changes seem somewhat discrepant. Possible indirect solar influences on the earth's Bond albedo are discussed to emphasize that our earthshine data are already sufficiently precise to detect, if they occur, any meaningful changes in the earth's reflectance. Still greater precision will occur as we expand our single site observations to a global network.
