The sol-gel methodology has been applied successfully in the synthesis of a novel hybrid coating based on dimethoxymethyl-n-octadecylsilane precursor. The newly synthesized parent coating was functionalized further with two commercially-available corrosion-inhibitive pigments Moly-$white^{(R)}$ 101-ED and Hfucophos $Zapp^{(R)}$, applied to mild steel panels, and immersed continuously in 3.5% NaCl electrolytic solution for 288 h. The corrosion protection performance of the prepared functional coatings was evaluated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and DC polarization techniques. An enhancement in the barrier properties has been revealed from the electrochemical characterization data of the hybrid films, in comparison with untreated mild steel substrates following long-term immersion in 3.5% NaCl. The corrosion resistance properties of the newly developed coatings over mild steel substrates found to be largely dependent on the type of the loaded inhibitive pigment in which the Moly-white inhibitor has a positive impact on the corrosion protection performance of the parent coating, while an opposite behavior was observed upon mixing the base polymeric matrix with the commercially-available Zapp corrosion inhibitor.
A mixture of aluminum isopropoxide (Al(OC3H7i)3) solution and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution was hydrolyzed in the range between pH 1~14. the powder obtained from sol-gel process was calcined at several temperatures and crystallization behaviors of various samples were investigated. The hydrolyzed sols of pH 1~6 wre clear, or near clear. On the other hand, powder precipitated from sols of pH 7~14. The sample obtained from pH 3 solution crystallized via complicated route, and $\beta$-Al2O3 and $\beta$"-Al2O3 phases appeared at lower temperature than samples from other pH conditions. And the quantity of remained $\beta$"-Al2O3 phase after heat treatment at 150$0^{\circ}C$ was more than samples from other pH conditions. After sintering, ionic conductivities were 1.3$\times$10-4S.cm-1 to 0.76$\times$10-4S.cm-1.0-4S.cm-1.
Ultraviolet (UV) photodetectors are used in various industries and fields of research, including optical communication, flame sensing, missile plume detection, astronomical studies, biological sensors, and environmental research. However, general UV detectors that employ Schottky junction diodes and p-n junctions have high fabrication cost and low quantum efficiency. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of materials used to manufacture UV photodetectors in a low-cost solution process that requires easy fabrication of flexible substrates. We fabricated p-type NiO and n-type ZnO substrates with wide band gap by the sol-gel method and compared the characteristics of substrates prepared under different spin-coating and heat-treatment conditions.
This study synthesized pure anatase carbon doped $TiO_2$ photocatalysts supported on a stainless steel mesh using a sol-gel solution of 8% polyacrylonitrile (PAN)/dimethylformamide (DMF)/$TiCl_4$. The influence of the pyrolysis temperature and holding time on the morphological characteristics, particle sizes and surface area of the prepared catalyst was investigated. The prepared catalysts were characterized by several analytical methods: high resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The XRD patterns showed that the supported $TiO_2$ nanocrystals are typically anatase, polycrystalline and body-centered tetragonal in structure. The EDS and XPS results complemented one another and confirmed the presence of carbon species in or on the $TiO_2$ layer, and the XPS data suggested the substitution of titanium in $TiO_2$ by carbon. Instead of using calcination, PAN pyrolysis was used to control the carbon content, and the mesoporosity was tailored by the applied temperature. The supported $TiO_2$ nanocrystals prepared by pyrolysis at 300, 350, and $400^{\circ}C$ for 3 h on a stainless steel mesh were actual supported carbon doped $TiO_2$ nanocrystals. Thus, $PAN/DMF/TiCl_4$ offers a facile, robust sol-gel related route for preparing supported carbon doped $TiO_2$ nanocomposites.

In this study, based on hydrolysis and condensation via $St{\ddot{o}}ber$ process of sol-gel method, synthesis of mono-dispersed silica nanoparticles was carried out with hydrophilic solvent. This operation was expected to be a more simplified process than that with organic solvent. Based on the sol-gel method, which involves simply controlling the particle size, the particle size of the synthesized silica specimens were ranged from 30 to 300 nm by controlling the composition of tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS), DI water and ammonia solution, and by varying the stirring speeds while maintaining a fixed amount of ethanol. Increasing the content of DI water and decreasing the content of ammonia caused the particle size to decrease, while controlling the stirring speed at a high level of RPMs enabled a decrease of the particle size. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) were utilized to investigate the success factors for synthesizing process; Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) was used to study the effects of the size and morphology of the synthesized particles. To analyze the dispersion properties, zeta potential and particle size distribution (PSD) analyses were utilized.
A composite film of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)/sol-gel-derived zinc oxide(ZnO)/Nafion has been utilized as an efficient immobilization matrix for the construction of a highly sensitive and stable tris(2,2'-bipyridyl) ruthenium(II) (Ru(${bpy)_3}^{2+})$ electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) sensor. The electrochemical and ECL behaviors of Ru(${bpy)_3}^{2+})$ ion-exchanged into the composite film were strongly dependent upon the sol-gel preparation condition, the amount of MWCNT incorporated into the ZnO/Nafion composite film, and the buffer solution pH. The synergistic effect of MWCNTs and ZnO in the composite films increased not only the sensitivity but also the long-term stability of the ECL sensor. The present ECL sensor based on the MWCNT/ZnO/Nafion gave a linear response ($R^2$ = 0.999) for tripropylamine concentration from 500 nM to 1.0 mM with a remarkable detection limit (S/N = 3) of 15 nM. The present ECL sensor showed outstanding long-term stability (94% initial signal retained for 5 weeks). Since the present ECL sensor exhibits large response towards NADH, it could be applied as a transduction platform for the ECL biosensor in which the NADH is produced from the dehydrogenase-based enzymatic reaction in the presence of NA$D^+$ cofactor.
This study is an inorganic foaming ceramic by sol-gel reaction in order to overcome weak point of insulator using in construction equipment. We shall be able to confirm as the existing product substitute is possible result of this study. The solution where the silicate, the ceramic powder and the additive are included which makes foaming ceramic slurry, then the insulator made by used $CO_2$ Sol-Gel reaction. There being will be able to manufacture the insulator where the economical efficiency is excellent confirmed at the start product which is completed. The recording gel time decreases when the silicate will increase. Uses the hydrogen peroxide and fe make foam, when additionally surface preparation the fluorine resin, the water tolerance increases and will be able to complement the weak point of the silicate which omits in the water. The case which will use the loess powder with the research method which sees specially was environment-friendly product and according to appearing, the physical properties of nonflammability.
The Pt doped $TiO_2$ composite membranes were prepared by the sol-gel process. The Pt doped titania sol was peptized with hydrochloric acid in the pH range of 1.23 to 1.32 at 5$0^{\circ}C$. The average particle size of the Pt doped titania sol was shown to be below 15nm and well dispersed in the solution. XPS show the Pt elements continuous and homogeneous dispersed in the $TiO_2$ membrane. The mean particle size of the Pt doped $TiO_2$ composite membrane has smaller than that of the undoped $TiO_2$ composite membrane. The average pore size of the Pt doped $TiO_2$ composite membrane was increased from 58 to 193 $\AA$ with firing temperature changed from 550 to 85$0^{\circ}C$. It was observed that the Pt doped $TiO_2$ composite membranes showed crack-free and homogeneous microstructue as well as narrow particle size distribution up to above 75$0^{\circ}C$.
Sol-gel coatings of $TiO_2$ have been prepared from $TiO_2$ sol and deposited by dip-coating technique on 316L stainless steel sheets in order to study the electrochemical behaviorin corrosive solutions. The influence of the coatings on the chemical corrosion of the substrate has been evaluated by potentiodynamic polarization curves in different aqueous NaCl solution at $25^{\circ}C$.
Tow types of supports were made using $\alpha$-Al2O3 powder and optimum conditions to prepare for supports were provided. Sol solution for coating was synthesized by sol-gel method with aluminum isopropoxide. Supports were coated and heat-treatemented, where the thickness of coating layer was controlled by dipping time. Flux and permeability of alumina membrane were measured by liquid and gas filtration apparatus and these were compared with the provided model. It was confirmed that the coating was done very well without micro~crack and defect.
