The PEFP (Proton Engineering Frontier Project) is constructing a 100MeV proton Linac (Linear Accelerator). The 20 MeV 20 mA proton beam has been serviced for an application in the fields of material, biological, information technology and medical sciences. For a stable and efficient acceleration of a proton beam, the control requirements must be optimized by studying various control methods. We propose that the integrated control system for the Linac machine components must be based on a distribution control method to improve a centralized control system. Based on EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) real-time software, the VME (Versa Module European package format) IOC (Input Output Controller) was developed under cross development environment with a RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) PowerPC system. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of distributed control system using the VME-based EPICS middleware for various components of the large proton accelerator.

To develop a wind farm in a mountainous terrain like Korea, it is generally more advantageous to install wind turbines along a mountain ridge where has relatively better wind resource because that is open in all directions and free from shielding by the surrounding topography. In this study, the SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) v4.1 3 arc-second resolution digital elevation database and the geomorphometric characterization software LandSerf v2.3 are used to extract ridge lines for assessing a wind farm siting in mountainous terrain. The effectiveness of wind farm siting along a ridge line is confirmed that the most of wind turbines in the Gangwon, Taegisan, and Maebongsan wind farms in Korea's mountainous terrain are placed along the primary and secondary ridge lines where wind resource is relatively outstanding.

Fuel cell generators as the distributed generation system with a few hundred watt$\sim$a few hundred kilowatt capacity, can supply the high quality electric power to user as compared with conventional large scale power plants. In this paper, PEMFC(polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell) generator as micro-source is modelled by using PSIM simulation software and DSP based fuel cell hardware simulator based on the PSIM simulation model is implemented. The relation of fuel cell voltage and current(V-I curve) is linearized by first order function on the ohmic area in voltage-current curve of fuel cell. The implemented system is composed of a PEMFC hardware simulator, an isolated full bridge dc boost converter, and a 60[Hz] voltage source PWM inverter. The voltage-current-power(V-I-P) characteristics of the implemented fuel cell hardware simulator are verified in load variation and transient state and the 60[Hz] output voltage sinusoidal waveform of the PWM inverter is investigated under the resistance load and nonlinear diode load.

Objectives: This study aimed to optimize the thread depth and pitch of a recently designed dental implant to provide uniform stress distribution by means of a response surface optimization method available in finite element (FE) software. The sensitivity of simulation to different mechanical parameters was also evaluated. Materials and Methods: A three-dimensional model of a tapered dental implant with micro-threads in the upper area and V-shaped threads in the rest of the body was modeled and analyzed using finite element analysis (FEA). An axial load of 100 N was applied to the top of the implants. The model was optimized for thread depth and pitch to determine the optimal stress distribution. In this analysis, micro-threads had 0.25 to 0.3 mm depth and 0.27 to 0.33 mm pitch, and V-shaped threads had 0.405 to 0.495 mm depth and 0.66 to 0.8 mm pitch. Results: The optimized depth and pitch were 0.307 and 0.286 mm for micro-threads and 0.405 and 0.808 mm for V-shaped threads, respectively. In this design, the most effective parameters on stress distribution were the depth and pitch of the micro-threads based on sensitivity analysis results. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, the optimal implant design has micro-threads with 0.307 and 0.286 mm depth and pitch, respectively, in the upper area and V-shaped threads with 0.405 and 0.808 mm depth and pitch in the rest of the body. These results indicate that micro-thread parameters have a greater effect on stress and strain values.

The performance evaluation and fabrication of integrated-optic electric-field sensor utilizing $Ti:LiNbO_3$ asymmetric Mach-Zehnder intensity modulator with a push-pull lumped electrode and a plate-type probe antenna to measure an electric field strength is described. The modulator has a small device size of $46{\times}7{\times}1\;mm$ and operates at a wavelength $1.3{\mu}m$. The devices are simulated based on the BPM software and fabricated utilizing Ti-diffused $LiNbO_3$ channel optical waveguides. The minimum detectable electric field is 1.02 V/m and 6.91 V/m, corresponding to a dynamic range of ~35 dB and ~10 dB at the frequencies of 500 KHz and 5 MHz, respectively.

Shear walls are structural members in buildings that are used extensively in reinforced concrete frame buildings, and almost exclusively in the UK, regardless of whether or not they are actually required. In recent years, the UK construction industry, led by the Concrete Centre, has questioned the need for such structural elements in low to mid-rise reinforced concrete frame buildings. In this context, a typical modern, 5-storey residential building is studied, and its existing shear walls are replaced with columns as used elsewhere in the building. The aim is to investigate the impact of several design variables, including concrete grade, column size, column shape and slab thickness, on the building's structural performance, considering two punching shear limits (VEd/VRd,c), lateral drift and accelerations, to evaluate its maximum possible height under wind actions without the inclusion of shear walls. To facilitate this study, a numerical model has been developed using the ETABS software. The results demonstrate that the building examined does not require shear walls in the design and has no lateral displacement or acceleration issues. In fact, with further analysis, it is shown that a similar building could be constructed up to 13 and 16 storeys high for 2 and 2.5 punching shear ratios (VEd/VRd,c), respectively, with adequate serviceability and strength, without the need for shear walls, albeit with thicker columns.

HL7 released V3 CDA(Clinical Document Architecture) and V2.x message standards for medical information exchange. Currently, these standards are successfully adopted by a number of nations across the globe. However, substantial amount of time is required to develop and implement these standards. Moreover, developers need a lot of time to understand these standards. To solve these issues from 2011, the HL7 standard framework started to discuss Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources(FHIR) as next generation standard of healthcare information exchange. People's interests toward personal health record and smartphone penetration rate are growing and increasing rapidly. Therefore, our research team believes it is necessary to develop a PHR profiling system which could be accessed by using a smartphone and we developed the system. Through a FHIR Profile editor tool developed in Furore, we found that improvements could be made in generating and changing the profile. In order to build the PHR Profiling system, an Open-API on FHIR is used for exchanging information between electronic medical record system and PHR Profiling system. In the PHR Profiling system, the transactions of information between two systems are provided by RESTful service. In this study, we verify the efficiency of development of the PHR Profiling system through FHIR.

This paper presents a simulation-based system for verification and validation(V&V) of design implication of the Visual Real-time Object Model which is produced by existing object's behavior design method. This system can simulate the dynamic interactions using the executable Ada simulation machine, and can detect various logical and temporal problems in the visual real-time object model prior to the real implementation of the application systems. Also, the system can generate the Ada prototype code from the validated specification. This system is implemented by Visual C++ version 4.2. For simulation, this system is using the Ada language because Ada's real-time expression capabilities such as concurrent processes, rendezvous, temporal behavior expression, and etc, are competent compared to other languages. This work contributes to a tightly coupling of methodology-based visual models and formal-based simulation systems, and also contributes to a realization of automated specification V&V.

The lifetime of a gas turbine combustor is typically limited by the durability of its liner, the structure that encloses the high-temperature combustion products. The primary objective of the combustor thermal design process is to ensure that the liner temperatures do not exceed a maximum value set by material limits. Liner temperatures exceeding these limits hasten the onset of cracking which increase the frequency of unscheduled engine removals and cause the maintenance and repair costs of the engine to increase. Hot gas temperature prediction can be considered a preliminary step for combustor liner temperature prediction which can make a suitable view of combustion chamber conditions. In this study, the temperature distribution of ceramic panels for a V94.2 gas turbine combustor subjected to realistic operation conditions is presented using three-dimensional finite difference method. A simplified model of alumina ceramic is used to obtain the temperature distribution. The external thermal loads consist of convection and radiation heat transfers are considered that these loads are applied to flat segmented panel on hot side and forced convection cooling on the other side. First the temperatures of hot and cold sides of ceramic are calculated. Then, the thermal boundary conditions of all other ceramic sides are estimated by the field observations. Finally, the temperature distributions of ceramic panels for a V94.2 gas turbine combustor are computed by MATLAB software. The results show that the gas emissivity for diffusion mode is more than premix therefore the radiation heat flux and temperature will be more. The results of this work are validated by ANSYS and ABAQUS softwares. It is showed that there is a good agreement between all results.
