The Effects of a Physical Computing Convergence Class to the Science Exploration Experiment Subject of High School on the SW Education Recognition and the Convergence Literacy (고등학교 과학탐구실험 교과에 피지컬 컴퓨팅을 융합한 수업이 SW 교육 인식 및 융합 소양에 미치는 영향)

  • In the era of the 4th industrial revolution and convergence, various discussions and studies have been conducted to develop future social talents, and through this, the need for creative convergence talents is increasing. In line with the change to a software-oriented society, countries around the world are trying to strengthen SW education, but high school students' awareness of the necessity of information subject and SW education that is the center of convergence is insufficient. Therefore, opportunities for convergence of the information subject and various fields should be provided. In this study, information education was converged to the science exploration experiment subject to construct an educational program that can develop creative convergence, and a convergence class using physical computing were applied to high school students for 9 hours. As a result of the experiment, the recognition of SW education of the experimental group was improved, and it was confirmed that the learner's convergence literacy of the experimental group was statistically different from that of the control group that conducted the general science experiment class.

Artificial Intelligence(AI) Fundamental Education Design for Non-major Humanities (비전공자 인문계열을 위한 인공지능(AI) 보편적 교육 설계)

  • With the advent of the 4th Industrial Revolution, AI utilization capabilities are being emphasized in various industries, but AI education design and curriculum research as universal education is currently lacking. This study offers a design for universal AI education to further cultivate its use in universities. For the AI basic education design, a questionnaire was conducted for experts three times, and the reliability of the derived design contents was verified by reflecting the results. As a result, the main competencies for cultivating AI literacy were data literacy, AI understanding and utilization, and the main detailed areas derived were data structure understanding and processing, visualization, word cloud, public data utilization, and machine learning concept understanding and utilization. The educational design content derived through this study is expected to increase the value of competency-centered AI universal education in the future.

Analysis of the effects of non-face-to-face SW·AI education for Pre-service teachers (예비교사 대상 비대면 SW·AI 교육 효과 분석)

  • In order to prepare for future social changes, SW·AI education is essential. In this paper, after conducting non-face-to-face SW·AI education for pre-service teachers, the effectiveness of SW education before and after education was measured using the measurement tool on the software educational effectiveness. As a result of the analysis, the overall average and the average of the 'computational thinking' and 'SW literacy' domains increased significantly, and the difference between the averages before and after education was statistically significant in decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithm, which are sub domains of 'computational thinking'. Through SW·AI education, students not only recognize the necessity of SW education and the importance of computational thinking, but also understand the process of decomposing information, recognizing and extracting patterns, and expressing problem-solving processes. It can be seen that non-face-to-face SW·AI education has the effect of improving computational thinking and SW literacy beyond recognizing the importance of SW.

An Analysis of Artificial Intelligence Education Research Trends Based on Topic Modeling

  • This study aimed to analyze recent research trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI) education within South Korea with the overarching objective of exploring the future direction of AI education. For this purpose, an analysis of 697 papers related to AI education published in Research Information Sharing Service (RISS) from 2016 to November 2023 were analyzed using word cloud and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling technique. As a result of the analysis, six major topics were identified: generative AI utilization education, AI ethics education, AI convergence education, teacher perceptions and roles in AI utilization, AI literacy development in university education, and AI-based education and research directions. Based on these findings, I proposed several suggestions, (1) including expanding the use of generative AI in various subjects, (2) establishing ethical guidelines for AI use, (3) evaluating the long-term impact of AI education, (4) enhancing teachers' ability to use AI in higher education, (5) diversifying the curriculum of AI education in universities, (6) analyzing the trend of AI research, and developing an educational platform.

  • Sophisticated business intelligent software and personalized web services help collecting and mining huge amounts of personal information. This increase in digitalized personal information and advances in Internet technologies poses new challenges to consumers' information privacy. Based on the identified concept of information privacy concerns (IPC), this study additionally explores the interrelationships among consumers' individual characteristics(self-efficacy, digital literacy, customer alienation), customer satisfaction and intention to buy in e-commerce process. Academically, this study extends IPC to an empirical research model by identifying the conceptualization and organization of IPC. Moreover, practically, e-commerce providers can develop how to relieve IPC of online consumers.

Development and application of software education programs to improve Underachievement

  • In this paper, we propose the development and application of a software education program for underachievers. The software education program for underachieving students was developed in consideration of the characteristics of learner's suffering from underachievement and the educational effects of software education, and is meaningful in that it proposes a plan to improve the learning gap in distance learning. Learners can acquire digital literacy and learning skills by solving structured tasks in the form of courseware, intelligent tutoring, debugging, and artificial intelligence learning models in educational programs. Based on the effects of software education, such as enhancing logical thinking ability and problem solving ability, this program provides opportunities to solve fusion tasks to underachievers. Based on this, it is expected that it can have a positive effect on the overall academic work.

  • Since 2015, the government has been striving to strengthen the software capabilities required for future talent through software-oriented university in Korea. In the university selected as a software-oriented university, basic software education is given to all departments such as humanities, social science, engineering, natural science, arts and the sports within the university in order to foster convergent human resources with different knowledge and software literacy. In this paper, we analyze the contents of basic software education for twenty universities selected as software-oriented universities. As a result of analysis, most of the basic software education which is carried out to the students of the non-majors students was aimed at improvement of problem solving ability centered on computational thinking for future society and improvement of convergence ability based on computer science. It uses block-based educational programming language and text-based advanced programming language to adjust the difficulty of programming contents and contents reflecting characteristics of each major. Problem-based learning, project-based learning, and discussion method were used as the teaching and learning methods for problem solving. In the future, this paper will help to establish the systematic direction for basic software education of non-majors students.

  • The purpose of environmental education is to cultivate democracy citizens suitable for sustainable society. Suitable citizens for sustainable society are fostered person of environmental literacy, environmental sensibility, ecological and synthetic sights of environmental problems, decision making of environmental problems, and environmental responsibility etc. by environmental education. To achieve this purpose of environmental education effectively, it is desirable that produces and utilizes ICT(Information and Communication Technologies) works and methods that can show efficiently special sides(inter-relation, long-term effects etc.) of environmental problems. ICT environmental education materials and methods are raising the interest and participate of teenagers to environmental education because they are accustomed to the Internet in South Korea. Students can easily conversation with the person of similar interests and environment experts through cyber ICT environmental education. The directions of developing ICT teaching materials for environmental education to enforce self-directed learning, cooperation studying etc.

  • With the advent of internet, the modern society is enjoying the benefits of the information age. As one of undesirable side effects of utilization of internet, however, it is often mentioned that young students are helplessly exposed to inappropriate and unqualified information. Therefore, in this paper, we will clarify the nature of inappropriate information to the younger generation and will argue for the needs of protecting the youth from inappropriate information. Especially the merits and limits of often motioned five different protective and regulatory measures are presented and analyzed, those are, establishment of acceptable use policy, active utilization of supervisory organization, promotion of Internet rating system, installation of filtering software, and legal and regulatory protection. As a fundamental means of resolving the problems, however, enforcement of systematic information literacy education, promotion of active utilization of sound information, development of search engines for the youth, design of diverse filtering softwares which can be selected by users, and increased attention by parents and teachers are suggested.

Education Course Model based on AP CSP For Improvement of Computational Thinking

  • Computational Thinking is one of the biggest issues in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It is a core literacy required not only for SW major but also for all students including them. It is not a simple computer software education, but a coding education based on Computational Thinking, and it should be able to solve the problems in everyday life and to express the process and solutions. However, in the case of students who lack background knowledge on SW and programming languages for development, it is hard to know how to algorithmize problems and express them using computer devices. In this study, we proposed a education course model to improve the students' thinking skills and to express them effectively. In addition, we confirmed whether the non-major students who learned through this education course model can express various problems related to the major field by integrating them with computing accidents and improve the problem solving ability.
