The evolving internet-based services demand high-speed data transmission in conjunction with scalability. The next generation optical network has to exploit artificial intelligence and cognitive techniques to cope with the emerging requirements. This work proposes a novel way to solve the dynamic provisioning problem in optical network. The provisioning in optical network involves the computation of routes and the reservation of wavelenghs (Routing and Wavelength assignment-RWA). This is an extensively studied multi-objective optimization problem and its complexity is known to be NP-Complete. As the exact algorithms incurs more running time, the heuristic based approaches have been widely preferred to solve this problem. Recently the software-defined networking has impacted the way the optical pipes are configured and monitored. This work proposes the dynamic selection of path computation algorithms in response to the changing service requirements and network scenarios. A software-defined controller mechanism with a novel packet matching feature was proposed to dynamically match the traffic demands with the appropriate algorithm. A software-defined controller with Path Computation Element-PCE was created in the ONOS tool. A simulation study was performed with the case study of dynamic path establishment in ONOS-Open Network Operating System based software defined controller environment. A java based NOX controller was configured with a parent path computation element. The child path computation elements were configured with different path computation algorithms under the control of the parent path computation element. The use case of dynamic bulk path creation was considered. The algorithm selection method is compared with the existing single algorithm based method and the results are analyzed.

This paper presents a computationally efficient implementation of a Hamming code decoder on a graphics processing unit (GPU) to support real-time software-defined radio, which is a software alternative for realizing wireless communication. The Hamming code algorithm is challenging to parallelize effectively on a GPU because it works on sparsely located data items with several conditional statements, leading to non-coalesced, long latency, global memory access, and huge thread divergence. To address these issues, we propose an optimized implementation of the Hamming code on the GPU to exploit the higher parallelism inherent in the algorithm. Experimental results using a compute unified device architecture (CUDA)-enabled NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560, including 335 cores, revealed that the proposed approach achieved a 99x speedup versus the equivalent CPU-based implementation.
The use of wireless body area networks (WBANs) in healthcare applications has made it convenient to monitor both health personnel and patient status continuously in real time through wearable wireless sensor nodes. However, the heterogeneous and complex network structure of WBANs has some disadvantages in terms of control and management. The software-defined network (SDN) approach is a promising technology that defines a new design and management approach for network communications. In order to create more flexible and dynamic network structures in WBANs, this study uses the SDN approach. For this, a WBAN architecture based on the SDN approach with a new energy-aware routing algorithm for healthcare architecture is proposed. To develop a more flexible architecture, a controller that manages all HUBs is designed. The proposed architecture is modeled using the Riverbed Modeler software for performance analysis. The simulation results show that the SDN-based structure meets the service quality requirements and shows superior performance in terms of energy consumption, throughput, successful transmission rate, and delay parameters according to the traditional routing approach.
During the major sections of the network, Software-defined network control technology for the network area corresponding to the transmission network is becoming a change in network-controlled environments utilizing network operation and provisioning across the network industry. Currently development is underway along with the deployment of PTN equipment and configuration for provisioning is being phased out. It is actively introducing establishment of SDN-based control system while constructing provisioning of PTN equipment from actual commercial network. Therefore, in this thesis, we are going to look at the contents and trends of SDN systems in packet-based transmission networks based on PTN and use them in research on OpenDaylight, an open source for configuring SDN. It then Network Operator will study the software defined control techniques for operational education.

In this paper, we propose a deployment and operation scheme of UxNB network toward mobile IAB. By operating a UxNB network based on SDN(Software Defined Network), UxNBs are deployed in areas where mobile communication services are desired. After deploying UxNB in the service area, IAB can be set up to perform mobile communication services. For this purpose, this paper first proposes a UxNB Network Controller consisting of a UAV Controller and an SDN Controller, and proposes the necessary functions. Next, we present a scenario in which a UxNB network can be deployed and operated in detail step by step. We also discuss the location of the UxNB network controller, how to deliver control commands from the UAV controller to the UxNB, how to apply IAB for UxNB networks, optimization of UxNB networks, RLF(radio link failure) recovery in UxNB networks, and future research on security in UxNB networks. It is expected that the proposed UxNB Network Controller architecture and UxNB network deployment and operation will enable seamless integration of UxNB networks into Mobile IAB.
In this paper, we describe an IMT-2000 system architecture, a protocol stack, and basic MAP scenarios(e.g., registration, call delivery) based on the IS-41 and IS-41 and IS-751. This paper focuses on the MAP scenarios to support the IMSI which is defined for the global roaming between GSM and IS-41 Networks through the Family of System approach. This paper also deals with the design of the MAP protocol stack transported over the ATM networks and introduces the software structure of MAP in IMT-2000 MSC.

Wireless mesh network (WMN) is a promising technology for building a cost-effective and easily-deployed wireless networking infrastructure. To efficiently utilize limited radio resources in WMNs, packet transmissions (particularly, redundant packet transmissions) should be carefully managed. We therefore propose a lightweight traffic redundancy elimination (LTRE) scheme to reduce redundant packet transmissions in software-defined wireless mesh networks (SD-WMNs). In LTRE, the controller determines the optimal path of each packet to maximize the amount of traffic reduction. In addition, LTRE employs three novel techniques: 1) machine learning (ML)-based information request, 2) ID-based source routing, and 3) popularity-aware cache update. Simulation results show that LTRE can significantly reduce the traffic overhead by 18.34% to 48.89%.

Over the past years, Link Flooding Attacks (LFAs) have been introduced as new network threats. LFAs are indirect DDoS attacks that selectively flood intermediate core links, while legacy DDoS attacks directly targets end points. Flooding bandwidth in the core links results in that a wide target area is affected by the attack. In the traditional network, mitigating LFAs is a challenge since an attacker can easily construct a link map that contains entire network topology via traceroute. Security researchers have proposed many solutions, however, they focused on reactive countermeasures that respond to LFAs when attacks occurred. We argue that this reactive approach is limited in that core links are already exposed to an attacker. In this paper, we present SDHoneyNet that prelocates vulnerable links by computing static and dynamic property on Software-defined Networks (SDN). SDHoneyNet deploys Honey Topology, which is obfuscated topology, on the nearby links. Using this approach, core links can be hidden from attacker's sight, which leads to effectively building proactive method for mitigating LFAs.
Network slicing is a promising paradigm and significant evolution for adjusting the heterogeneous services based on different requirements by placing dynamic virtual network functions (VNF) forwarding graph (VNFFG) and orchestrating service function chaining (SFC) based on criticalities of Quality of Service (QoS) classes. In system architecture, software-defined networks (SDN), network functions virtualization (NFV), and edge computing are used to provide resourceful data view, configurable virtual resources, and control interfaces for developing the modified deep reinforcement learning agent (MDRL-A). In this paper, task requests, tolerable delays, and required resources are differentiated for input state observations to identify the non-critical/critical classes, since each user equipment can execute different QoS application services. We design intelligent slicing for handing the cross-domain resource with MDRL-A in solving network problems and eliminating resource usage. The agent interacts with controllers and orchestrators to manage the flow rule installation and physical resource allocation in NFV infrastructure (NFVI) with the proposed formulation of completion time and criticality criteria. Simulation is conducted in SDN/NFV environment and capturing the QoS performances between conventional and MDRL-A approaches.
