In order to improve the conversion efficiency and mitigate the EMI problem of conventional hard-switching inverters, a new soft-switching DC-AC inverter with a compact structure and a low modulation complexity is proposed in this paper. In the proposed structure, resonant inductors are connected in series for the arm branches, and resonant capacitors are connected in parallel for the neutral point branches. With the help of resonant components, the proposed structure achieves zero-current switching on the arm branches and zero-voltage switching on the neutral point branches. When compared with state-of-art soft-switching topologies, the proposed topology does not need auxiliary switches. Moreover, the commutation algorithm to realize soft-switching can be easily implemented. In this paper, the principle of the resonant operation of the proposed soft-switching converter is presented and its performance is verified through simulation studies. The feasibility of the proposed inverter is evaluated experimentally with a 2.4-kW prototype.

Objectives: This study evaluates soft tissue changes of the upper lip and nose after maxillary setback with orthognathic surgery such as Le Fort I or anterior segmental osteotomy. Materials and Methods: All 50 patients with bimaxillary protrusion and skeletal Class II malocclusion underwent Le Fort I or anterior segmental osteotomy with backward movement. Soft and hard tissue changes were analyzed using cephalograms collected preoperatively and 6 months postoperatively. Results: Cluster analysis on the ratios shows that 2 lines intersected at 4 mm point. Based on this point, we divided the subjects into 2 groups: Group A (less than 4 mm, 27 subjects) and Group B (more than 4 mm, 23 subjects). Also, each group was divided according to changes of upper incisor angle (≥4°=A1, B1 or <4°=A2, B2). The correlation between A and B groups for A'/ANS and Ls/Is (P<0.001) was significant; A'/A (P=0.002), PRN/A (P=0.043), PRN/ANS (P=0.032), and St/Is (P=0.010). Variation of nasolabial angle between the two groups was not significant. There was no significant correlation of vertical movement and angle variation. Conclusion: The ratio of soft tissue to hard tissue movement depends on the amount of posterior movement in the maxilla, showing approximately two times higher rates in most of the midface when posterior movement was greater than 4 mm. The soft tissue changes caused by posterior movement of the maxilla were little affected by angular changes of upper incisors. Interestingly, nasolabial angle showed a different tendency between A and B groups and was more affected by incisal angular changes when horizontal posterior movement was less than 4 mm.

With the increasing demand for aesthetic implant dentistry, the importance of implant restoration is emphasized not only in the functional aspect but also in the aesthetic aspect. The aesthetic restoration of dental implants in the anterior maxilla is a challenge for clinicians because it requires proper harmony in three following conditions; reconstruction of hard tissue, soft tissue, and aesthetic prosthesis. The soft tissue aesthetics are dependent upon the condition of the supporting hard tissue because the osseous structure provides a framework for the development of a healthy and aesthetic soft tissue interface. Therefore, the augmentation of hard tissue is a first step and especially, optimal 3-dimensional position of implant is the most important factor in aesthetic implant restoration. The management of soft tissue is a second step, and the final step is a restoration of harmonic prosthesis using provisional restoration with proper emergence profile. This clinical report describes the procedure of bone augmentation in labial dehiscence defect, Vascularized Interpositional Periosteal-Connective Tissue (VIP-CT) flap for aesthetic anterior soft tissue, and the importance of provisional restoration and impression taking stage with customized impression coping.
The purpose of this stdudy was to evaluate the effect of maxillary protraction and the relapse of hard and soft tissue after maxillary protraction. For this study 29 patients who were treated with maxillary protractor and labiolingual archwire were selected. Their mean age was 9 years 4 months and mean treatment period was 8.5 months. Lateral cephalograms were taken at pretreatment, immediately after treatment and one to three months after removal of the maxillary protractor. They were traced on skeletodental and soft tissue structures based on Burstone's analysis and analyzed by Quick-Ceph Image Digitizing System(ORTHODONTIC PROCESSING). The mean and standard deviation between pretreatment and posttreatment and between posttreatment and retention period for each cephalometric variable were calculated. Student t-test was used to determine the statistical significance of the changes in each variable. Correlation coefficients between hard tissue and soft tissue were used to determine interrelationship. The results were as follows. 1. After maxillayy protraction, the maxilla and maxillary dentition moved antero-inferiorly, the mandibld and mandibular dentition moved postero-interiorly and palatal plane rotated antero-superiorly by $0.59^{\circ}$. 2. After maxillary protraction, the soft tissue of upper lip moved antero-interiorly with the movement of hard tissue but the antero-posterior position of lower lip was stable in spite of the change of hard tissue. The thickness of upper lip was decreased and that of lower lip was increased after maxillary Protraction. 3. During the retention period, the position of jaws was relatively stable but upper and lower anterior teeth and antero-superiorly rotated palatal plane relapsed to original position. 4. During the retention period, the soft tissue of lips was stable antero-posteriorly and moved mote inferiorly than posttreatment. 5. The correlation coefficients between the postion of upper and lower incisal edge and that position of lips were high, especially in horizontal change.

The course timetabling problem is a problem assigning a set of subjects to the given classrooms and different timeslots, while satisfying various hard constraints and soft constraints. This problem is defined as a constraint satisfaction optimization problem and is known as an NP-complete problem. Various methods has been proposed such as integer programming, constraint programming and local search methods to solve a variety of course timetabling problems. In this paper, we propose an iterative improvement search method to solve the problem based on constraint programming. First, an initial solution satisfying all the hard constraints is obtained by constraint programming, and then the solution is repeatedly improved using constraint programming again by adding new constraints to improve the quality of the soft constraints. Through experimental results, we confirmed that the proposed method can find far better solutions in a shorter time than the manual method.
A multi-attribute robust design methodology is presented. This method can be applied where there are various technical constraints in design variables, multiple potentially conflicting design attributes, and uncontrollable noise variables. Two forms of technical constraints, soft and hard constraints, are considered in robust design settings. Specifically, this work presents procedures for integrating two types of design constraints seamlessly on the multiple design attributes, which is achieved through a development of multi-attribute utility formulation. The effectiveness of the overall procedures is tested with the aid of an I-Beam design problem, and results of sensitivity analysis are discussed.

When a vehicle is operated over sort terrain, torque(or soil thrust) applied to driving wheel brings about shear displacement far soil due to compression and shear failure of soil under tire. This shear displacement give rise to slip and a additional sinkage due to slip. This additional sinkage is usually referred to as slip-sinkage. The slip-sinkage is affected by soil conditions and inflation pressure of tire. This slip-sinkage influence tractive performance on driving wheel . We conducted the experimental study far investigating the effect of slip on sinkage and tractive performance of driving wheel, such as motion resistance, thrust and drawbar pull. The experiment was carried out over three different soil conditions(soft, hard and very hard soil) far a tire with three levels of inflation pressure(120kPa, 240kPa and 360kPa). The results of this study show qualitatively slipsinkage characteristics and slip-tractive performance relationships of driving wheel with soil conditions and inflation pressure of tire.

This paper proposes a full wave mode ZVT-PWM boost converter. The converter with the auxiliary switch in a full wave mode makes possible soft switching operation of all switches including the auxiliary switch whereas the auxiliary switch is turned off with hard switching in the conventional converter. Therefore, the proposed converter reduces the turn-off switching loss and switching noise of the auxiliary switch without additional passive and/or active elements and high power density system can be realized.

Incompetent sediments and competent volcanics are consisted of the Cenozoic geology in Korea. Although the Cenozoic area is small, it is necessary to special interesting for ground of these geological material. The Cenozoic geology shows heterogeneous characteristics. We can look at the weak Cenozoic sedimentary rocks under the hard Cenozoic basalt in the area. Some Cenozoic un(or half)-consolidated soft sediments have large, heavy and hard boulders. Some volcanics and tuffaceous sediments have swelling clays. These characteristics give very difficult problems to engineering geologists and civil engineers.
