  • The proposed dc-dc convertor for a battery energy storage system(BESS) can reduce the power rating and bidirectional power flow. This system consist soft-switching bidirectional dc-dc converter so it can reduce the energy loss when charging and discharging mode. Thus it can achieve high efficiency. Also, overall system utilizes the voltage compensation circuit. It is composed of small size and low cost due to reducing the power rating. In this paper, we proposed system about verified by simulation.

  • In this paper, bi-directional DC/DC converter using a LC series resonant converter is proposed. A proposed converter is consisted by adding LC series resonant tank into a conventional bi-directional DC/DC converter and performs soft-switching at both boost and buck mode. A LC series resonance occurs in whole operation mode and switching point is determined by specific condition. Through the theoretical analysis and simulation results, operation modes and characteristics of the proposed topology is verified.

Fabrication of Planar Type Inductors Using FeTaN Magnetic Thin Films

  • A double rectangular spiral type inductor has been fabricated by using FeTaN films. The inductor is composed of internal coils sandwiched by magnetic layers. Characteristics of inductor performance are investigated with an emphasis on planarization of magnetic films. In the absence of the planarization process, the grating topology of the upper magnetic films over the coil arrays degrades the soft magnetic properties and the inductor performance. It also induces a longitudinal magnetic anisotropy with the easy axis aligned to the magnetic flux direction. This alignment prevents the upper magnetic films from contributing to the total induction. Glass bonding is a viable method for achieving a completely planar inductor structure. The planar inductor with glass bonding shows excellent performance: inductance of 1.1 $\mu H$, Q factor of 7 (at 5 MHz), and the current capability up to 100 mA.

  • A new three-phase soft-switching active front-end inverter is presented. The topology consists of a quasi-resonant PWM boost converter with an additional resonant branch, which provides low loss at high frequency operation. This leads to a high conversion efficiency and a remarkable reduction in the size of the input inductor. To synchronise the PWM pattern with the resonance cycle, a modified space vector modulation with asymmetrical PWM pattern is used. A high power factor can be achieved for both power flow directions. Due to a new control strategy the converter features a low content of harmonics in the line currents even for distorted line voltages.

단일칩 마이크로컨트롤러를 이용한 간단한 디지털 LCD 백라이트 인버터 (Simple Digital LCD Backlight Inverter using a Single-chip Microcontroller)

  • 본 논문에서는 단일칩 마이크로컨트롤러를 이용하여 구현한 간단한 디지털 LCD 백라이트 인버터를 보고한다. 제안한 인버터는 냉음극형광램프(CCFL)의 점화전압을 감소시키고 전류스파이크를 제거함으로써 점화특성을 향상시켜 CCFL의 수명을 연장시킨다. 이것은 소프트스타팅 기법을 적용한 디지털 디밍제어 알고리즘을 단일칩 마이크로 컨트롤러에 구현함으로써 달성하였다. 인버터의 전력구조는 풀브리지 공진형 회로를 이용하였다. 간략한 해석 결과에 따른 설계 예를 제시하였고, 이에 근거하여 구현된 프로토타입의 실험결과는 이론적 해석과 설명이 정확하게 일치함을 보였다. 전체 시스템의 효율은 약 85%였으며, 디밍제어 동작 시에 CCFL의 점화는 전류스파이크가 없이 이루어졌고 점화전압은 기존의 구조에 비해 약 30% 정도 감소하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 위상천이 풀브리지 인버터를 이용한 새로운 LCD CCFL 백라이트 전자식 안정기를 제안한다. 제안한 전자식 안정기는 소프트스타팅이 적용된 새로운 형태의 디지털 디밍제어를 이용하여 CCFL의 점화전압을 감소시키고 전류스파이크를 제거함으로써, CCFL의 점화 특성을 향상 시키며 나아가 CCFL의 수명을 연장시킨다. 이를 위하여 본 논문은 제안한 전자식 안정기의 풀브리지 인버터 토폴로지를 간략하게 분석하고 여기에 적용된 새로운 디지털 디밍제어 알고리즘을 간단하게 설명한다. 그리고 본 논문은 프로토타입 회로의 설계예를 보이고 단일칩 마이크로컨트롤러 상에 소프트웨어적으로 구현되는 디지털 디밍제어의 구현 방식을 설명한다. 이것은 실제 프로토타입 전자식 안정기로 구현되었으며, 그 실험 결과를 통하여 제안한 전자식 안정기가 정확하게 동작함을 보였다. 제안한 전자식 안정기 프로토타입의 디지털 디밍제어 동작 시의 점화전압은 기존의 전자식 안정기와 비교하여 약 30[%] 정도 감소되었으며 어떠한 전류스파이크도 나타나지 않았다.

CS-PDM Series Resonant High Frequency Inverter for Copy Machine

  • This paper presents the two lossless auxiliary inductors-assisted voltage source type half bridge (single ended push pull: SEPP) series resonant high frequency inverter for induction heated fixing roller in copy and printing machines. The simple high-frequency inverter treated here can completely achieve stable zero current soft switching (ZCS) commutation for wide its output power regulation ranges and load variations under its constant high frequency pulse density modulation (PDM) scheme. Its transient and steady state operating principle is originally described and discussed for a constant high-frequency PDM control strategy under a stable ZCS operation commutation, together with its output effective power regulation characteristics-based on the high frequency PDM strategy. The experimental operating performances of this voltage source SEPP ZCS-PDM series resonant high frequency inverter using IGBTs are illustrated as compared with computer simulation results and experimental ones. Its power losses analysis and actual efficiency are evaluated and discussed on the basis of simulation and experimental results. The feasible effectiveness of this high frequency inverter appliance implemented here is proved from the practical point of view.

FUZZY LOGIC KNOWLEDGE SYSTEMS AND ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS IN MEDICINE AND BIOLOGY

  • This tutorial paper has been written for biologists, physicians or beginners in fuzzy sets theory and applications. This field is introduced in the framework of medical diagnosis problems. The paper describes and illustrates with practical examples, a general methodology of special interest in the processing of borderline cases, that allows a graded assignment of diagnoses to patients. A pattern of medical knowledge consists of a tableau with linguistic entries or of fuzzy propositions. Relationships between symptoms and diagnoses are interpreted as labels of fuzzy sets. It is shown how possibility measures (soft matching) can be used and combined to derive diagnoses after measurements on collected data. The concepts and methods are illustrated in a biomedical application on inflammatory protein variations. In the case of poor diagnostic classifications, it is introduced appropriate ponderations, acting on the characterizations of proteins, in order to decrease their relative influence. As a consequence, when pattern matching is achieved, the final ranking of inflammatory syndromes assigned to a given patient might change to better fit the actual classification. Defuzzification of results (i.e. diagnostic groups assigned to patients) is performed as a non fuzzy sets partition issued from a "separating power", and not as the center of gravity method commonly employed in fuzzy control. It is then introduced a model of fuzzy connectionist expert system, in which an artificial neural network is designed to build the knowledge base of an expert system, from training examples (this model can also be used for specifications of rules in fuzzy logic control). Two types of weights are associated with the connections: primary linguistic weights, interpreted as labels of fuzzy sets, and secondary numerical weights. Cell activation is computed through MIN-MAX fuzzy equations of the weights. Learning consists in finding the (numerical) weights and the network topology. This feed forward network is described and illustrated in the same biomedical domain as in the first part.

새로운 소프트 스위칭 승압형 정류기의 토폴로지 (The Topology of Novel Soft Switching Boost Rectifier)

  • This paper has proposed a new boost rectifier. Adequate input current was obtained by keeping the duty ratio constant without complicated conventional control methods and the improvement of the waveform was increased. With a decrease of distortion up to 12.9[%], the scope of restriction on harmonics was set to 13.0[%]($3^{td}$ harmonics), 1.1[%]($5^{td}$ harmonics) and 0.6[%]($7^{td}$ harmonics), respectively. Because complicated methods of control are avoided, the circuit configuration is simple and practical. In particular, the said effect turned out to be highly efficient in the low boosting ratio range(boosting ratio$({\alpha})=1.25$). The feasibility of these facts has been proven both theoretically and experimentally.
