Analysis of Communication Performance According to Detection Sequence of MMSE Soft Decision Interference Cancellation Scheme for MIMO System (다중 입출력 시스템 MMSE 연판정 간섭 제거 기법의 검출 순서에 따른 통신 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, we analyzed BER (Bit Error Rate) communication performance according to the detection order of MMSE (Minimum Mean Square Error) based soft decision interference cancellation. As the detection order method, antenna index order method, absolute value magnitude order method of channel elements, absolute value sum order method of channel elements, and SNR (Signal Noise Ratio) order method are proposed. BER performance for the scheme was measured and analyzed. As a simulation environment, 16-QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) modulation is used in an uncoded environment of an M×M multiple-input multiple-output system, and an independent Rayleigh attenuation channel is considered. The simulation results show that the performance gain is about 1.5dB when the SNR-based detection order method is M=4, and the performance gain is about 3.5dB when M=8 and about 3.5dB when M=16. The more BER performance was confirmed, the more the detection order method of the received signal prevented the interference and error spreading occurring in the detection process.

Soft Error Detection for VLIW Architectures with a Variable Length Execution Set (Variable Length Execution Set을 지원하는 VLIW 아키텍처를 위한 소프트 에러 검출 기법)

  • With technology scaling, soft error rate has greatly increased in embedded systems. Due to high performance and low power consumption, VLIW (Very Long Instruction Word) architectures have been widely used in embedded systems and thus many researches have been studied to improve the reliability of a system by duplicating instructions in VLIW architectures. However, existing studies have ignored the feature, called VLES (Variable Length Execution Set), which is adopted in most modern VLIW architectures to reduce code size. In this paper, we propose how to support instruction duplication in VLIW architecture with VLES. Our experimental results demonstrate that a VLIW architecture with VLES shows 64% code size decrement on average at the cost of about 4% additional cell area as compared to the case of a VLIW architecture without VLES when instruction duplication is applied to both architectures. Also, it is shown that the case with VLES does not cause extra execution time compared to the case without VLES.

Performance Analysis of Uplink Transmit Power Control during Soft Handoff (소프트 핸드오프 상황에서 상향링크 송신 전력 제어 성능 분석)

  • In a mobile communication system, we analyze the performance of uplink transmit power control mechanisms for various environments when a mobile station is during soft handoff. The quality of data frames at the receiver side can be better at a base station controller (BSC) than at its base stations (BSs) if the BSC combines selectively the data frames transmitted from the BSs. And, in order to achieve the target frame error rate (FER), the outer loop power control should be done at the BSC instead of at the BSs. It can save the energy consumption of a mobile station during the soft handoff.

  • In an attack context, the adversary wants to retrieve the message from the intercepted noisy bit stream without any prior knowledge of the channel codes used. The process of finding out the code parameters such as code length, dimension, and generator, for this purpose, is called the blind recognition of channel codes or the reconstruction of channel codes. In this paper, we suggest an improved algorithm of the blind recovery of rate k/n convolutional encoders in a noisy environment. The suggested algorithm improves the existing algorithm by Marazin, et. al. by evaluating the threshold value through the estimation of the channel error probability of the BSC. By applying the soft decision method by Shaojing, et. al., we considerably enhance the success rate of the channel reconstruction.

A Study on Hamming Codes for Mitigating ISI on the Diffusion-based Molecular Communication Channel (확산기반 분자통신 채널에서 ISI 완화를 위한 해밍 부호에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, in order to mitigate ISI(inter-symbol interference) in a diffusion-based molecular communication channel, an ISI Hamming code is proposed in which ISI characteristics are applied to a channel decoding algorithm. In order to prove the bit error rate performance of the proposed channel code, the bit error rate performance of the major channel codes applied to the molecular communication channel with ISI was compared and analyzed through simulation. From the simulation results, it can be seen that the bit error rate performance of the ISI Hamming code is the best when the number of radiated molecules is less than or equal to 1100. In addition, when the number of transmitted molecules is M=1000, the decoding method of the ISI Hamming code proposed in this paper has improved the bit error rate of approximately 5.9×10-5 compared to the Hamming code using only soft values. Compared with the ISI-mitigating channel code, which is effective for removing ISI in the molecular communication channel, the ISI Hamming code proposed in this paper is the most advantageous in a channel environment where the number of transmitted molecules is not big (M<1100). And we can see that the ISI-mitigating channel code is more advantageous when the number of transmitted molecules is large(M>1100).

Soft Error Rate for High Density DRAM Cell (고집적 DRAM 셀에 대한 소프트 에러율)

  • DRAM에서 셀 캐패시터의 누설 전류 영향을 고려하여 소프트 에러율을 예측하였다. DRAM의 동작 과정에서 누설 전류의 영향으로 셀 캐패시터는 전하량이 감소하고, 이에 따른 소프트 에러율을 DRAM의 각 동작 모드에 대하여 계산하였다. 누설 전류가 작을 경우에는 /bit mode가 소프트 에러에 취약했지만, 누설전류가 커질수록 memory 모드가 소프트 에러에 가장 취약함을 보였다. 실제 256M급 DRAM의 구조에 적용하여, 셀 캐패시턴스, bit line 캐패시턴스, sense amplifier의 입력 전압 감도들이 변화할 때 소프트 에러에 미치는 영향을 예측하였고, 이 결과들은 차세대 DARM 연구의 최적 셀 설계에 이용될 수 있다.

  • 본 논문은 고차 계층 변조, 즉 계층 64QAM의 연판정 비트 검출을 위한 단순화된 연산 방법을 다룬다. 이는 기존 계층 변조의 연판정 비트, 즉 LLR(Log-Likelihood Ratio)값의 근사를 통해 불필요한 연산을 줄여 이에 필요한 지연시간을 줄일 수 있다. 또한 제안된 기법은 기존의 연판정 비트 검출 기법과 매우 유사한 비트 오류율(BER: Bit Error Rate) 성능을 유지하기 때문에 연판정 비트를 활용하는 방송 및 통신 시스템에 폭넓게 적용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • TCM(Trellis-Coded Modulation)은 대역폭과 전력이 제한된 채널환경에서 채널부호화 기술과 변조기술을 결합시켜 대역폭의 증가없이 에러정정능력을 개선시키는 통신 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 TCM 신호의 복호시 사용되는 Viterbi decoder에서 traceback depth의 감소에 따른 BER(Bit Error Rate)의 증가를 개선하기 위해 수신부에서 설정하는 traceback depth를 주기로 blocking하여 TCM encoder의 입력시퀀스에 zero padding bits를 추가시키는 새로운 알고리듬을 제안한다. 모의실험결과, traceback depth가 50인 hard decision의 경우 약 2~2.5dB, 4-level soft decision과 8-level soft decision의 경우 약 0.3~2dB의 coding gain을 얻을 수 있었다.

Mapless Navigation with Distributional Reinforcement Learning (분포형 강화학습을 활용한 맵리스 네비게이션)

  • This paper provides a study of distributional perspective on reinforcement learning for application in mobile robot navigation. Mapless navigation algorithms based on deep reinforcement learning are proven to promising performance and high applicability. The trial-and-error simulations in virtual environments are encouraged to implement autonomous navigation due to expensive real-life interactions. Nevertheless, applying the deep reinforcement learning model in real tasks is challenging due to dissimilar data collection between virtual simulation and the physical world, leading to high-risk manners and high collision rate. In this paper, we present distributional reinforcement learning architecture for mapless navigation of mobile robot that adapt the uncertainty of environmental change. The experimental results indicate the superior performance of distributional soft actor critic compared to conventional methods.
