  • To enhance the design and comfort of waist-protection corsets, this study analyzed the product characteristics of five types of posture-correction corsets that are available commercially. Additionally, subjective evaluation of the corsets was conducted on women aged 20 to 60 years, in terms of design, material preference, fit, comfort, degree of correction, freedom of movement, tightness, and convenience of front fastening. Following product analysis, the five corset types were divided into: two soft, one semi-hard, and two hard types in terms of the degree of elongation. As a result of pattern analysis, the soft type was designed to improve fit by reflecting the body curvature, whereas the semi-hard and hard types were relatively flat. Through the wearing sensation assessment, the hard type manufactured by company S was the best in terms of design, material, fit, comfort, correction degree, and freedom of movement. The soft type was average in design, material, and fit while relatively poor in the correction degree and tightness. The results indicated that soft materials, flexible bones with appropriate tension, patterns designed to snugly fit the body with large curvature at the top and bottom for better inflection, and adjustable support belts that can be double-fixed are crucial elements in improving the corset design to boost the comfort of wearing. These study results are helpful in the development of waist-protection corsets with excellent wearing comfort and design appreciated by customers.

  • Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma is a rare malignant tumor of bone and soft tissue. This aggressive form of chondrosarcoma represents only 3% to 9% of all chondrosarcomas. This neoplasm is characterized by sheets or clusters of undifferentiated spindle or round cells surrounding discrete nodules of well-differentiated cartilage. We experienced a case of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma on mandibular body. Two years ago, the patient had been treated the intrabony cystic lesion on mandiblular left body. At that time, cartilage portion was not detected in the cystic specimen. Two years after cyst enucleation, the recurred large neoplasm in the mandibular left body was noted, and it was diagnosed as 4.5 cm sized mesenchymal chondrosarcoma. The mandibular tumor was widely resected and rigid-plate and cervical musculocutaneous flap were used for reconstruction of resected bone and soft tissues. No complications and recurrence were noted for 6 months postoperatively.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of three different formulated diets and macroalgae(Undaria) on growth and body comoposition among juvenile Haliotis discus, H. sieboldii and H. discus hannail. Three replicate groups among the three species abalones average weighing 0.31g were fed one of one experimental diet, two commercial diets and Undaria for 9 weeks. The three formulated diets produced significantly (P<0.05) greated body and shell growth than Undaria within same abalone species. Survival rates (97~99%) of H. discus and H. sieboldii were higher than that (74~77%) of H. discus hannai. Whereas different diets had no significantly (P>0.05) distincitive effect on survival within each three different abalone species. Moisture of abalone soft body in final stage reduced compared to those of abalone in initial stage in H. discus and H. discus hannai. Regardless of diet, abalone soft body revealed significantly (P<0.05) increased protein and decreased ash at the end of feeding trial in all three abalone species. This study indicate that all three different formulated diets used in this experiment could be a practical diet in three abalone species.

  • This paper is concerned with the dynamic analysis of an underwater tracked vehicle, operating on extremely soft soil of the deep-seafloor. The vehicle is assumed as a rigid-body with 6-dof. The orientation of the vehicle is defined by four Euler parameters. To solve the motion equations of the vehicle, the Newmark numerical integrator is used in the incremental-iterative algorithm. The normalization constraint of Euler parameters is satisfied by using of a sequential updating method. The hydrodynamic force and moment are included in the tracked vehicle's dynamics. The hydrodynamic effects on the performance of tracked vehicles are investigated through numerical simulations.

  • This paper presents a low-complexity non-iterative soft-decision Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (SD-BCH) decoder architecture and design technique for wireless body area networks (WBANs). A SD-BCH decoder with test syndrome computation, a syndrome calculator, Chien search and metric check, and error location decision is proposed. The proposed SD-BCH decoder not only uses test syndromes, but also does not have an iteration process. The proposed SD-BCH decoder provides a 0.75~1 dB coding gain compared to a hard-decision BCH (HD-BCH) decoder, and almost similar coding gain compared to a conventional SD-BCH decoder. The proposed SD-BCH (63, 51) decoder was designed and implemented using 90-nm CMOS standard cell technology. Synthesis results show that the proposed non-iterative SD-BCH decoder using a serial structure can lead to a 75% reduction in hardware complexity and a clock speed 3.8 times faster than a conventional SD-BCH decoder.

  • The technology for neutralizing static electricity by soft X-ray radiation has been newly developed. This technology involves ionization of gas molecules in the vicinity of a charged substrate to generate ions and electrons to reduce electrostatic potential. The ULSI device substrate and liquid crystal display substrate tend to get charged instantly to a high potential level when they are handled in the manufacturing process. Soft X-ray radiation is adequate in air or $O_2$ gas at atmospheric pressure. This newly developed neutralization method is effective to be superior to the conventional technique, i.e., an ionizer by using corona discharge ,in every aspect. The new method features excellent neutralization capability and is able to completely reduce electrostatic potential to 0 V within a short time. Moreover, this is a very clean antistatic technology free from particle generation ,ozone generation, and electromagnetic noise, which are problems in using the corona discharge ionizer.

  • In this paper, we considered the deformation shape of the soft rotation actuator as a double curvature shell and proceeded with the analytical development. Since the response of the hyperelastic material has a large nonlinear deformation, the analytical approach is very complicated and the solution cannot be easily obtained. it is assumed that the behavior of the flexible body, which is a superelastic material, takes the form of a double curvature shell, and the formulas for calculating the deformation are simplified. In this process, equilibrium equations in the related coordinate system representing a double curvature shell were derived. In addition, assuming a thin shell, the stress component in the thickness direction was ignored, and the equation was developed by adding the assumption of free rotation without load. In order to verify the analytically calculated value in this way, an experiment was conducted and the results were compared.

  • When we see normal gait, gait cycle is seperated as stance phase and swing phase. It needs 6 determinant of gait of pelvic rotation, pelvic tilt, knee joint of stance phase, ankle and foot motion, ankle and knee motion, and pelvic movement to be accomplished. In addition, a joint and muscle action is accomplished biomechanically at the same time with its gait cycle. In oriental medicine, the relationships between chang-fu physiology and meridian physiology are summaried as follows ; ${\bullet}$ chang-fu physiology : Spleen manages the extremities. Liver manages soft tissues. Liver stores blood. Kidney stores essences. Kidney manages bones. ${\bullet}$ meridian physiology : The Leg Greater Yang Meridian and meridian soft tissues The Leg Yang-Myeong Meridian and meridian soft tissues The Leg Lesser Yang Meridian and meridian soft tissues The Leg Greater Yin Meridian and meridian soft tissues The Leg Lesser Yin Meridian and meridian soft tissues The Leg Absolute Yin Meridian and meridian soft tissues Especially, we can find out relations between in a "blood supplied feet can walk well" that explains "blood regulations and by liver nourishing effects"that is the closest concept of muscle. Abnormal gaits are due to three causes as following; first, physical defect secoud, pain third, nervous system or instability of muscle. In oriental medicine, we can know relationship in "atrophy, numbness, stroke, convulsion, muscular dystrophy of knee, rheumatoid arthritis, five causes of infantile growing defects, five causes of softening, sprain". Especially, atrophy is the most important symptom. Gait evaluation should be emphasized where a point can walk 8 feet to 10 feet considering stride width, stride length, the body weight center, stride number, flexion, extension, rotation of a joint as a standard factor. The point is we should find out something strange in a patient's side, front and back view. After that we should find out its cause as an index that we can observe abnormal findings in a joint and muscle.

  • Background and Necessity of the study : For more than 20 years, the soil engineering reserach group of Chonnam National University has been performing the deformation analysis of soft clayey foundation, since the University is located near the south-western coast of Korean Peninsulla, along which tide reclamation works have been under proaressing. Associsted with the fact mentioned above, the researchers have been developing a computer program in order to carry out deformation analysis of soft foundation since early 1980. Case-studies : In this research, the Biot's equation was selected as the governing equation coupled with several constitutive models including original and modified Cam-clay models, elasto-viscoplastic model, Lade's model etc. The anisotropy of soi1 can be considered in this program. To validate the accuracy of the computer program developed a couple of case-studies were performed. These include the pilot banking, sand drain considering smear effect and compound foundation reinforced with sheet pile into soft foundation.i) The pilot banking Good results could be acquired by assuming banking load as the body force composed of finite element mesh rather than equivalent concentrated load.ii) The sand drain Due to smear, the delay of consolidation was remarkable at the early stsge. so safety for the failure of foundation should be checked for the initial step of consolidation. iii) The compound foundation Accurate results were obtained by introducing the joint element method for the soft foundation reinforced with sheet pile into soiㅣ.
