Purpose: This study investigated the validity and reliability of the Korean version of COVID-19 Stress Scale (K-CSS) in nursing students in Korea. Methods: The subjects of the study were 319 nursing students from three universities located in the metropolitan area. Data were collected for two months using self-reporting questionnaires. The study verified the scale's content validity, construct validity, concurrent validity and reliability, using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0. Results: K-CSS was comprised of seven factors, with a total of 25 questions; six about socio-economic consequences, four about Xenophobia, five about compulsive checking, three about traumatic stress, three about contamination, two about danger of the virus, and two about danger regarding the healthcare system. K-CSS was validated with confirmatory factor analysis (x2/df=2.32, CFI=.94, GFI=.87, NFI=.90, RMR=.07, RMSEA=.06, TLI=.93). Furthermore, the reliability verification showed a Cronbach's α of 0.87, confirming that the Korean version of the tool was very reliable. Conclusion: This study shows that K-CSS is a valid and reliable instrument to assess nursing students in Korea.
This study tried to categorize the types of mountain-village areas in terms of some key variables representing the socio-economic and natural characteristics in order to provide basic information for policy formation of mountain areas. Cross-sectional data of the year 1990 for 900 sub-counties were collected to analyse the characteristics of mountain-village areas. Eleven variables were selected to classify the types of sub-county levels. According to the results of the study, the socio-economic conditions of mountain-village areas represented by the number of corporations, number of non-farming households, and population density of mountain-village areas were found to be inferior to other parts of the nation while the proportion of forest land, share of non-paddy crop fields, distance from cities, percentage of farming households, and elevation from the sea-level were higher to the other areas. By the principal factor analysis, the key variables representing industrial development, mountain-ousness, and accessibility from near cities were selected. By a cluster analysis employing the selected variables, 5 different types of mountain-village areas were categorized.
This study is the first model to apply the concept of media engagement to a political campaign by which the voters' mind toward the supporting political candidates, are read. Thus it provides the theoretical and practical implications to the political campaign, and eventually contributes to the development of democracy. For these objectives, the total of 729 people who have the right to vote were telephone surveyed using the peoplemeter, CATI program in the 18th Presidential Election (12 areas including Seoul) of Dec. 19th 2012, and Re and By-election of April 24th 2013. Research question is to examine how the 5 attributes of the media engagement (interest, immersion, relevance, satisfaction and participation), play a role as the moderating variables in cross-correlation, socio-economic status and media properties. The result shows that of the five properties of media engagement, the relevant factor is the important parameter of mediating variable to the causal relationship. The media usage (TV, SNS, print media), socio-economic status (gender, age, income, marriage and area), involvement and the Presidential Election, and Re and By-election are also effective in the five attributes of media engagement. These results suggest that the a study model can measure the campaign effectiveness. This study will contribute significantly to the development of politics, election, media, advertising, and public relations area as well as to promote interdisciplinary research.
The objectives of this study were to analyze nutrition-related problems and to develop the nutrition education programs for high school students A survey was conducted with 500 students in the second grade level at high schools in Daegu who differed in socio-economic characteristics. In addition, body composition analysis was accomplished by the Inbody 3.0. The developed questionnaires were distributed and 481 questionnaires were collected with a 96.2% of response rate. Statistical data analysis was completed using SPSS WIN(ver.12.0) for descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis, t-tests and $X^2$-tests. We first analyzed students' problems related to nutrition and environmental factors. In a question addressing skipping breakfast, only 11.5% answered they "do not eat" breakfast. In regards to BMI, the male students' degree of obesity was higher. Second, we analyzed living environments, which greatly influence dietary behavior. For the snacks-related categories, most of the students liked bread, cake and other snacks. When they chose the snacks, they mainly considered taste. There were significant difference among the males and females(p<.01) in terms of snacks intake habits, where 43.1 % of the males answered they snack "occasionally" and 43.4% of the females answered they snack "according to how they feel". In the case of beverages, the males consumed significantly more(p<.001). Based on their regional groups, the area A group preferred milk and milk products, and the area B group preferred soft drinks. As for the time of beverage intake, 77.6% of the females answered "with snacks", which was significantly higher than 61.4% of the males(p<.001), 12.2% of the males drank beverages after exercise. For late snacking, 68.0% of the male students and 71.1 % of the female students consumed late snacks. Most of them preferred bread, cake and other snacks. The reasons for taking a late snack were "when I feel hungry" by 61.8% of the males which was higher than the females(p<.001), 23.6% of the females consumed late snacks "impulsively". Ideally, in order to improve the food habits of high school students effective and practical nutrition education programs that consider gender and regional school group, should be carried out.
Objectives: This research intended to examine the relationships among social capital, socioeconomic factors, and health-related lifestyles and the effect of these factors on self-rated health in the Republic of Korea. Methods: The data of the social statistics survey that the Korea National Statistical Office conducted in 2006 were chosen and 37,928 people from them, who were 25~59 years old were sampled. This paper made path analysis to examine the relationships among social capital, socioeconomic factors, and health-related lifestyle and the influence of these factors on self-rated health. Results: In relation to the overall influences of socioeconomic factors, social capital, and health-related lifestyle on self-rated health, the following factors had a significant positive direct effect: education(0.069), subjective class(0.108), marriage(0.054), satisfaction with family relationships(0.087), reliability of institutions(0.020), citizens' participation(0.021), exercise(0.037), and refrain from smoking(0.011). However, abstinence from alcohol(-0.067) had a negative direct effect on self-rated health Conclusion: Based on the results, this paper can suggest that the plan of keeping and building up social capital should be considered in the whole aspects of the society and the project promoting drinking moderation is required to consider social culture than individuals.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between socio-economic position(SEP), environmental exposures, and health of older people in Korea. This study used the data from 'Environmental Exposures and Their Health Effect in Korean Elderly Population'. The sample includes a total of 563 elderly people who were 60 years of age or older. Data on SEP, environmental exposure, and health impact were collected and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multivariate regressions. As a result, study participants' SEP including age, family type, monthly expenditure, type of house, and region was significantly associated with environmental exposure. Also, while adjusting for SEP, environmental exposure such as allowing indoor smoking was associated with self-rated health and depression of study participants. The study findings showed inequality in environmental exposure and health outcomes by SEP in Korean elderly. Environmental exposure was associated with health outcome even after adjusting SEP, and this implied that environmental exposure could be a critical factor in explaining heath inequality by SEP. Further studies are necessary to better understand the causal relationships among SEP, environmental exposure, and health outcomes.
Purpose. The purpose of this study is to analyze difference in quality of life related to health according to our country's social stratification. Methods. This study had analytical subjects as 7,992 adults(4,557 men, 3,435 women), who are included in a variable by social stratification among 15,691 people in the age group of 20~69 years old as examinees, based on the 4th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Results. This study obtained the following results. First, seeing the score of health-related life quality by social stratification, namely, the distribution of EQ-5D index, the new middle class(class II) was the highest(men with 0.966 point, women with 0.955 point). The agricultural self-employed class(class V) was indicated to be the lowest(men with 0.918 point, women with 0.866 point). In general, the more belonging to low social stratification led to having shown the lower aspect in EQ-5D index value. Second, as for the results of the hierarchical regression analysis, the factors of contributing to difference by social stratification in health-related quality of life were chronic disease, job stress, education, and income level in both men and women. The health behavior was grasped to be a factor of contributing only to women. Conclusions. To reduce difference in health-related quality of life according to social stratification in the future, the continuous investment is needed for supporting socially high-quality education and economic stability. The sphere of health will need to be given priority to the prevention of chronic disease and the development in effective management policy for the lower classes.

This study compared apartment brand awareness with purchase intention in terms of consumers' socio-economic and housing characteristics. Also, it identified the factors that influence consumers' awareness and purchase intention of apartment brands. The data were obtained via a questionnaire completed by adults 20 years of age and olde. (N=383), and were analyzed by t-tests, ANOVA, chi-square tests, multiple regression, and logistic regression analyses. The findings of this study are as follows: First, both consumers' awareness and purchase intention of apartment brands were higher among married males in their 30s and 40s than among unmarried females in their 20s and 50s. For consumers who had graduated from graduate schools, both awareness and purchase intention of apartment brands were lower than other groups. Second, consumers dwelling in apartments or row houses showed higher awareness of apartment brands. And those who lived in row houses were more likely to consider purchasing apartments with brand names. Third, every factor of consumers' housing values was higher than the middle point of the scale. Especially, economic and social values of housing were important factors for both awareness and purchasing intention of apartment brands. Fourth, the apartment brand awareness had a positive effect on the purchase intention of the apartments with their own brands.

The Korean government has put mamy efforts into the protection of ecological values of coastal and marine ecosystems since the mid 1990s, recognizing ecological values and economic contributions of coastal and marine ecosystems. Rapid increase of coastal and marine protected areas in terms of number and size implies the innovative change of national policy regarding ecosystem protection. As of the end of 2006, the total number and size of the protected areas account for 425 and $10,666.8km^2$ respectively. Despite of this achievement, the current policy regime on the protected areas has not been quite successful dealing with in managerial issues. The ambiguity and the lacking objectivity of designation criteria have, been causes of pending issues such as conflict outbreaks, 'paper parks', duplicated designation, etc. This paper aims at improving current designation criteria based on AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process). The suggestion of the study covers both the new designation criteria and the weighing factor on each criterion considering different ecological and socio-economic characteristics of 'wetland protected area' and 'marine protected area'.
