A Study on Core Competencies Required for Selection of Car Salespersons & the Relative Importance Between Core Competencies through AHP Analysis (AHP 분석을 통한 자동차 영업사원 선발에 필요한 핵심역량과 핵심역량 간 상대적 중요도에 대한 연구)

  • As the automobile market has grown steadily in recent years, consumer expectations have also risen. Therefore, it is necessary for automobile sales offices to create innovative customer value that is different from the past. Auto sales offices are making efforts to select salespeople who fit their management strategies, but they are having difficulties in evaluating their actual internal capabilities. Therefore, in this paper, based on the study of Spencer & Spencer (2008), we reconstruct the core competencies required for salesperson selection, and analyze the core competencies required for today's automobile salespersons by deriving the hierarchical importance between those competencies using AHP analysis. As a result, it was possible to derive the importance of core competencies different from previous studies. This is believed to be mainly due to the modern social market, the characteristics of existing car salespeople, and the tendency of recent customers. This study showed that it is possible to set selection criteria according to the ease and importance of calculating the required competency through AHP analysis. In addition, if the existing research is based on job specifications, this study is different in that it analyzed the actual group of experts.

A Study on Chinese K-pop Fandom from the Perspective of the Audience and Consumers (관객과 소비자 관점에서의 중국 K-pop 팬덤에 대한 연구)

  • Among global K-pop fandoms Chinese fandom is a longtime and very strong consumer power in the K-pop industry due to its adjacent geographical location and low cultural barriers. Yet, there is a significant lack of research on Chinese K-pop fandom; most of what is available is from the producers' points of view. Research that explores the position and experience of Chinese fans, who are both mass audience and consumers, is slow to emerge. Thus, there is a need for systematic and careful study of Chinese K-pop fandom. In this research, we conducted a phenomenological study of the experience of Chinese fans of K-pop culture. We conducted participatory observation and in-depth interviews (including a FGI) with Chinese superintendents and active participants in Chinese K-pop fan clubs and fan pages. We then coded the data, following the theory of fandom developed by scholars such as Fiske (1992), and analyzed the phenomenon of Chinese K-pop fandom from the frame of the overall societal environment. We considered the psychological and behavioral characteristics of Chinese fans and the influences they receive from their turbulent social environments. We also considered the expectations of and opinions on the development of K-pop culture from their perspective. Based on our findings, the significant role and influence of independent fans and interdependent fandom in the development of K-pop culture and industry are identified. Finally, we emphasize that the role as facilitators of K-pop agencies is critical in the establishment of communication and trust between fans, K-pop artists, and the agencies.

A Case Study of Hyundai Motors: Live Brilliant Campaign for Modern Premium Brand

  • As more companies become interested in global markets, it has become crucial for firms to create globalized brands whose positioning, advertising strategy, personality, looks, and feel are consistent across nations. The purpose of this study is to investigate the global branding strategy of the Hyundai Motor Company (hereafter HMC) in order to show how the company processes its branding strategy. HMC, one of the leading global companies in the automobile industry, set up its brand identity as "Modern premium", in alignment with their new slogan "New Thinking New Possibilities", in 2011. The aim of the "Modern premium" concept was to provide consumers with new experiences and values beyond their expectations. HMC wanted their consumers to think of their cars as not only a medium of transportation but as a life space, where they can share experiences alongside HMC. In an effort to conduct consumer research in 5 different nations, HMC selected "brilliant" as a key communication concept. The word "brilliant" expresses the functional, experiential, and emotional dimensions of HMC. HMC furthermore chose "live brilliant" as a key campaign message in order to reinforce their communication concept. After this decision, the "live brilliant" campaign was exhibited through major broadcast channels around the world. The campaign was the company's first worldwide brand campaign, where a single message was applied to all major markets, with the goal of building up a consistent image as a global brand. This global branding strategy is worth examining due to its significant contribution to growth generation in the global market. Overall, the 'live brilliant' global brand campaign not only improved HMC's reputation image-wise, with the 'Modern Premium' conceptualization of the brand as 'simple', 'creative' and 'caring', but also improved the consumer's familiarity, preference and purchase intention of HMC. In fact, the "live brilliant" campaign was a successful campaign which increased HMC's brand value. Notably, HMC's brand value increased continuously and reached 9 billion US dollars in 2013, leading it to reach 43rd place in the Global Brand Rankings according to the brand consulting group Interbrand. Its brand value largely surpassed that of Nissan (65th) and Chevrolet (89th) in 2013. While it is true that the global branding strategy of HMC involved higher risks, it was highly successful according to cross-nation consumer research. Therefore, this paper concludes that the global branding strategy of HMC made a positive impact on its performance. We further suggest HMC to combine its successful marketing with social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and embrace digital media by extending its brand communication horizon to the mobile internet

Empirical Research on the Causal Effect of Implementation of "With-COVID19" Policy on the Viewer Engagement of Online Fitness Contents (위드코로나 정책이 온라인 피트니스 콘텐츠의 시청자 참여도에 미치는 영향에 대한 실증 연구)

  • The online fitness industry has experienced rapid growth in recent years, overcoming physical constraints of conventional fitness programs. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the trend as social distancing policies were implemented. However, as financial distress of offline gyms worsened, the Korean government implemented the "With-COVID19" policy, which lifted most of the restrictions and regulations on offline gyms, on November 1st, 2021, raising concerns about the loss of drivers for the growth of the online fitness industry. Using regression discontinuity design in time (RDDiT), this study investigates the causal effect of the "With-COVID19" policy on the viewer engagement of online fitness content. Contrary to expectations that viewer engagement would decrease, it increased by 21%. Additionally, subgroup analysis based on opportunity cost reveals heterogeneity, and the high-cost group experienced a greater increase of 32% compared to low-cost group. Based on these findings, the study provides possible mechanisms of the increase, theoretical contributions on using RDDiT in the Information Systems, and practical implications for guidelines on managing online fitness platforms and content in the era of digital transformation.

Effects of women's grooming behaviors and appearance satisfaction on interpersonal relationships

  • The socio-cultural notion that appearance is something that can be created and managed, as opposed to something that is innate, has led to increased demands and expectations for appearance management. As the perception of appearance affects not only the oneself but also interpersonal relationships, increased satisfaction with one's appearance has the positive aspect of psychological stability, which leads to more active social participation. This study examined the effects of makeup and clothing adopted as appearance management behaviors and appearance satisfaction on interpersonal relationships, and analyzed the mediating effect of appearance management behaviors on interpersonal satisfaction through appearance satisfaction. The research method was a questionnaire, and 85 questionnaires were used in the final analysis. SPSS 28.0 and SmartPLS 4 were used to analyze the data. As a result of the analysis, it was found that among the women's appearance management behaviors, makeup has a defining effect on appearance satisfaction, and appearance satisfaction has a defining effect on interpersonal relationships. In addition, it was found that appearance satisfaction mediates the relationship between makeup and interpersonal relationships among appearance management behaviors. Although this study is limited in its generalizability to members of society as a whole because it was conducted on a sample of female college students in their 20s, it is significant in that it confirmed that practicing appearance management behaviors, reflecting the socio-cultural notion that appearance is created and managed, positively affects the formation of interpersonal relationships with psychologically stable members of society by making them confident in their appearance.

Analysis of the Relationship Between the 2022 Revised Middle Science Curriculum and Korean Science Education Standards (KSES) (2022 개정 중학교 과학과 교육과정과 과학교육표준(KSES)의 연관성 분석)

  • The Korean Science Education Standards (KSES) were developed to support the establishment of a domestic national science curriculum to respond to future social and environmental changes as an action plan to improve scientific literacy in the context of science education. In this study, we analyzed the relationship between KSES and the 2022 revised middle science curriculum focusing its learning contents and learning objectives and sought effects of the successful implementation of the curriculum. As a result, the content system of the 2022 revised middle science curriculum was highly related to the categories of knowledge in KSES. Attempts to deal with the content related to the nature of science was also confirmed through content elements in science and society domains. In the case of achievement standards, it was focused on some areas of the performance expectations in KSES, but the level of statement of the achievement standards closely matched the level of middle school students as suggested by KSES. From these results, it was possible to confirm the high relationship between the 2022 revised middle science curriculum and KSES, as well as the possibility of using KSES as an international indicator for establishing future science education plans.

  • 'The worstest environment disaster', 'World's first biocide massacre', 'Home-based Sewol ferry disaster' are all phrases attached to the recent humidifier disinfectant disaster. In the spring of 2011, four of 8 pregnant women including 1 adult man passed away at a university hospital in Seoul due to breathing failure. Epidemiologic investigation conducted by the Korean CDC soon revealed the inhalation of humidifier disinfectant, which had been widely used in Korea during the winter, to be responsible for the disease. As well as lung fibrosis hardening of the lungs, other diseases including asthma, rhinitis, skin disease, liver disease, fetal disease or cancers have been researched for their relation with exposure to the products. By February 9, 2017, 5,342 cases had registered for health problems and 1,131 of them were already dead (20.8% mortality rate). Based on studies by government agencies and a telephone survey of the general population by Seoul National University and civic groups, around 20% of the general public of Korea has used these products. Since the market release of the first product by SK Chemical in 1994, over 7.1 million items from around 20 brands were sold up to 2011. Most of the products were manufactured by well-known large conglomerates such as SK, Lotte, Samsung, Shinsegye, LG, and GS, as well as some European companies including UK-based Reckitt Benckiser and TESCO, the German firm Henkel, the Danish firm KeTox, and an Irish company. Even though this disaster was unveiled in 2011 by the Korean government, the issue of the victims was neglected for over five years. In 2016, an unexpected but intensive investigation by prosecutors found that Reckitt Benckiser manipulated and concealed animal tests for its own brand and brought several university experts and company employees to court. The matter was an intense social issue in Korea from May to June with a surge in media coverage. The prosecutor's investigation and a nationwide boycott campaign organized by victims and environmental groups against Reckitt Benckiser, whose product had been used by more than 70% of victims, led to the producer's official apology and a compensation scheme. A legislative investigation organized after the April 2016 national election revealed the producers' faults and the government's responsibility, but failed to meet expectations. A special law for the victims passed the National Assembly in January 2017 and a punitive system together with a massive environmental epidemiology investigation are expected to be the only solutions for this tragedy. Sciences of medicine, toxicology and environmental health have provided decisive evidence so far, but for the remaining problems the perspectives of social sciences such as sociology and jurisprudence are highly necessary, similar to with the Minamata disease and Wonjin Rayon events. It may not be easy to follow this issue using unfamiliar terminology from medical and chemical science and the long, complicated history of the event. For these reasons the author has attempted to write this article in a question and answer format to render it easier to follow. The 17 questions are: Q1 What is humidifier disinfectant? A Study on the Influence of Affct Based Trust and Cognition Based Trust on Word-of-Mouth Behaviors -Focusing on Friendship Network and Advice Network- (정서기반신뢰와 인지기반신뢰가 구전행동에 미치는 영향 연구 -친교네트워크와 조언네트워크를 중심으로-)

  • As developed IT, Word-of-Mouth(WOM) used varied terms as buzz marketing and viral marketing, and impressed that importance. Despite introduced new marketing tool on managers and professionals, online word-of-mouth including SNS lack of study on social network what based viral in marketing. In social network, patterns of relationship between individuals influence each other individual behaviors. Therefore this research grouped friendship-network and advice-network by characteristics, studied on trust of information source that antecedents of word-of-mouth in network. This study examined that affect- and cognition based trust affect WOM acceptance as WOM behaviors and examined effect of type of product as moderating variable. Additional this literature studied that WOM acceptance affect WOM recommend. To find the Influence of Trust on Word-of-Mouth Behaviors, a survey has done 206 samples(undergraduate students). The results of this study are as following : First, type of trust different friendship network and advice network. Affect-based trust is outstanding in friendship network than in advice network, while cognition-based trust stands out in advice network than another. Second, affect- and cognition based trust positive affect WOM acceptance. Contrary to expectations, what is preconceived trust in network have a similar effect for WOM acceptance regardless of type of trust. Third, WOM acceptance positive affect WOM recommend. Fourth, affect based trust affect WOM acceptance of hedonic product rather than utilitarian product. Upon especially in friendship network terms, affect-based trust has a more effect on WOM acceptance than cognition-based trust. This study has many implications. First, it is important that trust what have an influence WOM acceptance grouped affect- and cognition based trust. Second, it confirmed that trust is antecedents of positive WOM. Third, it is important that network grouped friendship network and advice-network by trust. Fourth, it gave managerial implications that they have to supply WOM through which network by type of product. We This study classified network and trust based on previous study. Then it examined relations between WOM behaviors. Further research could do enrich various things for example various age group, valence of message, quality of information.

A Comparison of American and Korean Experimental Studies on Positive Behavior Support within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (다층지원체계 중심의 긍정적 행동지원에 관한 한국과 미국의 실험연구 비교분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to summarize the empirical literature on implementation of positive behavior support (PBS) within a multi-tiered system of supports in American and Korean schools and to compare its key features and outcomes in an attempt to suggest future directions for development of a Korean school-wide PBS model and implementation manuals as well as directions for future research. Twenty-four American articles and 11 Korean articles (total 35 articles) that reported the outcomes of implementation of PBS at a tier 1 and/or tier 2, or tier 3 level and that met established inclusion criteria were analyzed using systematic procedures. Comparisons were made in the areas of key features and outcomes of PBS in addition to general methodology (e.g., participants, design, implementation duration, dependent measures) at each tier of PBS. The results indicated that positive outcomes for student behavior and other areas were reported across tiers in all American and Korean studies. At the tier 1 level, teaching expectations and rules were the primary focus of PBS in American and Korean schools. However, Korean schools focused on modifying the school and classroom environments and teaching social skills whereas American schools focused on teacher training on standardized interventions or curricular by experts and teacher support during implementation of PBS. At the tier 2 level, more American studies reported implementation of tier 2 interventions within school-wide PBS, and Check/In Check/Out (CICO) was found to be the most commonly used tier 2 intervention. The results also indicated that in comparison to Korean schools, American schools were more likely to use systematic screening tools or procedures to identify students who need tier 2 interventions and more likely to promote parental involvement with implementing interventions. At the tier 3 level, more Korean studies reported the outcomes of individualized interventions, but more American studies reported that designing individualized intervention plans based on comprehensive functional behavior assessment results and establishment of systematic screening systems were focused when implementing individualized interventions. Furthermore, few Korean studies reported the assessment of procedural integrity, social validity, and contextual fit in implementing PBS across tiers, indicating the need for development of valid instruments that could be used in assessing these areas. Based on these results, limitations of the study and suggestions for future research are discussed.

A Qualitative Study for the Psychological Characteristics Affecting Never married Choice (비혼 선택에 영향을 미치는 심리적 특성 탐색을 위한 질적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the psychological characteristics of affecting never married men and women through analyzing the content of in-depth interviews about the idea of marriage and the reason for never married choice. For achieving this purpose, the in-depth interview was conducted with 9 men and women aged mid-20s to late 30s who said to choose never married life for a long time, and then the content of interview was analyzed using consensual qualitative research. As a result of analyzing the content of in-depth interview, it was derived into 2 areas, 10 sub-areas, and 25 categories. The results of the study were as follows. Firstly, it was found that research participants negatively recognized the marriage and had unrealistic expectation rather than no expectation for marriage. Secondly, most of the research participants felt negative feelings about their parents' patriarchal role, and they did not want to live like their parents. They also reported that they did not see their marriage separated from their parents. Thirdly, most of the research participants felt difficulty in forming relationships with intimate person, and it became more difficult to have expectations about spouses and marriage due to repeated relationship conflict patterns. Fourthly, the research participants showed psychological aspect of experiential avoidance and seeking for individuality in terms of never married choice. Most of the research participants predicted the failure of married life, and reported that they were trying to prevent uncomfortable feelings and sufferings by choosing never married life. Also they reported that individuality considered more important than connection with others(togetherness) and individual value considered more important than collective value. Participants in this study showed negative evaluation or had negative influences on the marriage life of parents and acquaintances. This is more likely to be a passive factor in never married choice, so future research should examine the characteristics of active factors in never married choice.
