  • Urban communities have been recently highlighted as an alternative idea in the field of urban regeneration, social economy and so on. Urban communities should not be understood as an ideal, but the way urban communities work in reality also should be analysed. This paper aims to find out what urban communities really mean and who are involved in urban communities. The paper explores the features and issues of unban communities by surveying residents in Ansim area, Dong-gu, Daegu city. The paper analyses the relation between participation and community features: residents' socio-economic features, residence features, social relationship with their neighbours and the sense of community. The survey outcome shows that middle income, higher educated residents living in apartment complex are relatively more involved in community activities. Moreover, those who have more relationship with their neighbours have participated in community activities more than those who do not have any. As a consequence, this paper carefully states that the urban community is middle class-oriented and such feature could cause other residents' limited opportunities to access information about their own community and lead to social exclusion. This paper suggests that urban community groups need 'soft solidarity' between social classes.

With its political and social condition of the Islamic State stabilized and economy developed, the scope of commerce began to grow and the scale of trading with foreign countries started to expand. Along with this economic expansion, the caravanserai began to take a shape as a channel through which not only could the commercial commodities be traded but also religious Islamic ideas and important information could be spread into and shared with the people of neighboring countries. • Crowdfunding is one of new financing alternatives and is innovative and creative. In order to proceed with crowdfunding, various functions are required, such as design for screen composition, marketing and promotion for the public, accounting to manage the collected funds, and product production and purchase for reward. In addition, since it is a project that must be completed in a short period of time, cooperation between team members is important. This paper studied how the characteristics of the team conducting crowdfunding affect the team performance in crowdfunding. In this study, we set functional background diversity and shared leadership necessary for crowdfunding as team characteristic variables and crowdfunding amount, completion of work and team innovation as team performance variables. This study tests the hypotheses from 220 university students in 79 teams. The findings suggest that functional diversity and shared leadership are positively related to the completion of work and team innovation but not related to crowdfunding amount. To date, few studies have studied the relationship between characteristics of the crowdfunding team and performance. Therefore, the study on functional diversity and shared leadership in crowdfunding can expand existing crowdfunding study area.

  • This study examines the role of family involvement and national culture in entrepreneurs' choice of mode of entry into entrepreneurship. Mode of entry consists of two choices: starting a new venture or taking over an existing firm. Specifically, we investigate how cultural values moderate the relationship between family involvement and their choice of business takeover. Using a cross-national sample of 3,831 respondents from 33 countries in Flash Eurobarometer data, we develop key variables and test our hypotheses employing hierarchical linear modelling. Our results show that the relationship between family involvement of entrepreneurs and their choice of business takeover is moderated by individualism, short term orientation, and power distance. This research contributes to understanding comparative international entrepreneurship based on national culture. Implications for policy makers and educators are discussed.
