The purpose of this study was to examine the direction of social welfare education in the 4th Industrial Revolution as well as discuss the overall direction of social welfare education such as competency and curriculum and the educational dimension of social welfare professionals. Using Text Network Analysis, 223 studies published from 2005 to 2019 in the Korean Journal of Social Welfare Education were examined in order to explore the direction of social welfare education in the 4th Industrial Revolution. Using Word cloud, overall frequency was analyzed. As a result of key words analysis, social welfare education (43), research method (28), and social welfare field practice (23) were analyzed as influential key words. The directions of social welfare education in the 4th Industrial Revolution era are as follows. First, competency, curriculum, and qualifications are necessary in general social welfare education. Second, education centering on social workers and social welfare students, who are social welfare professionals, is necessary. Third, the ethical sensitivity of future social welfare should be carefully established. Finally, the need for a shared welfare system must be further studied.
The study is to examine the actual conditions and problems of educational welfare which is a part of social welfare and to offer its future directions and things to do. First of all, education has been considered to be part of social welfare in developed countries for a long time and it has been used the same as school educational welfare. These days Korea is confronted with increasing needs of educational welfare caused by emphasis of manpower, appearance of new poor class after IMF, handing down poverty to their children, absence of public education and educational fever, stress of life long learning and extending needs of students' social welfare service. In advanced countries compared to Korea, people perceive education as an equal opportunity. To reach this thesis, various efforts have been making in terms of manpower development such as reform of related laws, financial and official support, offering of parental skills and protecting children for the disadvantaged, dispatching school social workers and overall life improvement. The subjects and age of educational welfare are also diverse ranging from poor families and pre school children to general public and adults. On the other hand, Korea lacks related laws and financial support that are supposed to enforce educational welfare systematically. Also integrated and professional services are not often available due to the lack of cooperation between related agencies. Therefore, government's role and responsibility should be defined clearly in the future directions of educational welfare in Korea. For this, it is needed to establish related laws and build a concrete financial and executive interrelationship. Also every person should be a target of educational welfare putting priorities on the disadvantaged. A lot of efforts should be made to achieve things mentioned above. Multi-dimensional approach intertwined with education, welfare and labour, establishment of cooperation system between related agencies, reinforcement of life long learning, extension of free education including infants and toddlers, and offering financial support to the poor are a few among these efforts. Finally, institutionalization of school social welfare and improvement school facilities are strongly recommended to get to the right track of educational welfare.
The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of death education, focusing on death orientation and suicidal ideation, among college students majoring in social welfare. Participation in this study was voluntary. Participants were divided into two groups; an experimental group and a control group, totaling fourteen participants in each group. In exploring the effects of death education, the experimental group was subjected to a total of seven independent sessions dealing with death education over a period of four weeks. As a result of the death education, scores of death orientation and suicidal ideation in the experimental group were significantly lower in the control group. College students majoring in social welfare in the experimental group demonstrated greater comfort with the concept of death, as well as death being the prolongation of one life and new hope for an ensuing life. The experimental group demonstrated a greater appreciation for life, more confidence in setting future goals for their lives, and an awareness of, and ability to deal positively with suicidal tendencies in themselves and others. This research demonstrated a strong practical benefit associated with death education and suicidal ideation awareness.

The purpose of this study is to identify increasing needs for training students as managers in social service agencies and to suggest ways to develop the education of social welfare administration. Agency evaluations and performance management has increased demands for effectiveness and accountability of social service agencies, which also has increased the roles of managers in social service agencies. Using 'Korean Social Worker Survey' conducted by Korean Association of Social Workers, this study examines job characteristics of 2,479 social workers. The results show that administration/management activities take about 40% of social workers' daily activities. Community organization, human resource management, and planning/financial management are regarded as more important and difficult than other tasks. However, sufficient education for preparing students as social service managers is not provided in undergraduate and graduate level of college education. In addition, social workers make their life long careers as managers. Thus, the education of social welfare administration needs to refocus on the provision of knowledge and skills required for competent social service managers. This study suggests future directions for developing education of social welfare administration in undergraduate and graduate level of college education including field practice.
While the endeavor to introduce the service activity in the college education is enlarged, the object of this study is to introduce the concept of service learning in social work education. The 'content centered service-learning' is focusing on the practical education, the liaison and participation in community and the promotion of civil awareness which are very important in social work education that focuses on the interest and participation in the human and social problem as practical study. This study contemplates the educational effect of the course of social work combined with service learning. This study verifies the self-efficacy, the altruism, the change of social responsibility of students and the effect by carrying out the course of social welfare and service activities side by side. To evaluate the effect of service learning, pre and post test and qualitative analysis in journal of service activity, the discussion during the class and the mid and final term evaluation were done. Through the service learning, students showed the promotion in self-esteem, the altruism, the social responsibility, the self insights as a social worker and were able to have the chance to consider their future job. From the view point of local centers, it was evaluated that the service activity of students was helpful to the institutions and the clients, and that the liaison between the community agency and the college and the experience of integration of service learning and the course of social welfare was helpful too. Based on the above mentioned results, this study provide some recommendations in implementation of service-learning as the teaching methodology of social work.

This study proposes basic information to make effective environments for social welfare education, revealing the reasons why students choose the social welfare major at Konyang Cyber University. We conducted qualitative research with 41 students in the social welfare department at Konyang Cyber University. The result of this research is as follows. First, most students chose their major to get a certificate that can benefit them in the near future. Second, they chose their major as a way to achieve renown, and to enhance the quality of their lives. Third, they desired to contribute to society through their social work. Finally, individual experiences and family background were also motives. Based on the research, to improve learning outcomes in social welfare education, the necessary learning strategies are as follows. First, goal-oriented learning is necessary for students who want to get the certificate. A practical curriculum needs to contain both practical skills and professional knowledge applicable to the social work field. Second, education for students who choose the major to gain fame, and to develop their lives, requires generation-integrated education to help them review their lives and find their own meaning in life. Third, education for students who choose the major for a practical social contribution has to contain volunteer training that can lead them to be professional volunteers in society. Fourth, education for students who choose the major based on their personal experiences and their family background needs to deal with case management, which discovers the recipients who need help in society and the students who can achieve visible outcomes after all.
The purpose of this study is to analyze factors to affect low fertility and to investigate its implications to social welfare. For the purpose, I surveyed 360 married women and men in Gyeongnam province, and employed multi-regression, logistic regression model to process the data. I analyzed factors to influence low fertility in three aspects: demographic feature, socio-economic status, and personal sense of value. The results of analysis can be summarized as follows: (1) the period of marriage in demographic feature, income level in social economic status, and the necessity of children in personal sense of value are important factors to affect the current fertility level, (2) period of marriage, total numbers of children, gender of the first child are determining the future childbirth in demographic feature. Secondly, income level is interrelated to the future childbirth in socio-economic status. Thirdly, in the aspect of personal values, how much one needs to get married, how much one prefers son to daughter, how much one relies on one's children to realize one's dream are interrelated to the future childbirth, (3) the cost of bringing up a child as well as he expense of private education, lacking of a day nursery, and economic difficulty are causes to make people to postpone or give up childbirth. These results suggest that development of population policy to promote women's social participation and to strengthen family welfare as well as social welfare is necessary. These also implicates that if we pursue integrated policies on women, childcare, and education, we can get much more effective population welfare policy.
This research reviews the education welfare priority support project and analyzes its policy from the welfare-state perspective. This study evaluates the policy contents, overall procedures, and the changes in the perspectives of the project in accordance with the political power changes in the government, and illuminates future directions. For this, the research infers desirable typology of the welfare state, and analogizes the budget, the target population, key issues and delivery systems of the education welfare priority support project. Education welfare priority support project still remains to follow a selective and hierarchical business format, despite the legally stated initiatives, growing budget, and the expansion of the operation which has been governed by the policy makers. Particularly, the state of this project, and examine whether or not it has been distorted by the governmental emphasis on the educational outcomes and performance should continuously be examined as a future direction of the research. Finally, the study suggests several recommendations for the desirable anchorage of the project within the framework of being a prospective welfare state.

This study was to describe and understand the experiences of the physical disabled adult attending in public welfare program. The interview data were collected from seven persons and analyzed by using descriptive phenomenology of Colazzi. The procedural steps were that described the phenomenon of interest, collected participants' descriptions of the phenomenon, extracted the meaning of significant statements, organized the meanings into them clusters, wrote exhaustive descriptions and then incorporated data into an exhaustive description. The finding in 129 re-statements, 63 constructed meanings, 35 themes, 13 theme clusters, and six categories were deduced. The six categories were 'Life patterns exclusive health', 'Powerlessness by physical disabilities', 'Social supports', 'Positive motivation', 'Seeking to be holistic health', and 'Sense of accomplishment'. The study identified that social welfare program for the disabled necessities for health, learning, economy and their future in success. Therefore, we suggest there may be a need for supplying professional program for their health and welfare.
This paper studied the present condition of social welfare activities of Living Condition Improving Committee of Kimpo City in order to activate the social welfare services of women agricultural organizations. The main results are as follows; First, the general characteristics of the respondents in this study are forty or fifty years of age with above high school education with main income source of agriculture and middle class women living in agricultural communities more than 10 years. Second, considering the present and future planned activities of the Living Condition Improving Committee of Kimpo City this study finds that there is high expectation of helping poor people and joining voluntary services. Third, the members of the Living Condition Improving Committee of Kimpo City have actively participated in the local welfare service programs however, there is significant difference among people according to the age, living standard and joining period. Fourth, out of social welfare activities managed by the Living Condition Improving Committee of Kimpo City the welfare service activities for old people and local community are most active and the participants in the welfare service activities for women and the youngsters are small. Thus, according to this study the Living Condition Improving Committee of Kimpo City should consider the following three points in order to activate the social welfare service activities; First, as the members are expecting to expand the individual activities and to enhance the private improvement, the social welfare service activities should meet with the demands to improve self satisfaction of the participants. Second, new programs should be developed after reviewing the current programs in order to meet with the need of the members. Third, as the committee has not established a network system with government administrative organizations and relating institutions, and as its activities are concentrated in particular areas the committee should establish a new system to provide more efficient services in line with the cooperation with public organization and welfare resource suppliers.
