SPSS 22.0 software was used for t-test and cross tabulation analysis, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. The results showed there was statistically significant difference of elderly's life satisfaction by gender in multivariate analysis including sociodemographic factors, social network and relationship with children variables, but no difference in bivariate analysis. There was also significant difference in the factors affecting community-residing elderly's life satisfaction by gender. A few factors like friend support, number of regular social gatherings, and subjective health status were statistically significant in predicting male elderly's life satisfaction. Predictors of female elderly's life satisfaction which were perceived elderly parent-children conflict, friend support, monthly income, subjective health status, support to children, support from children were more diverse, compared to the predictors for male elderly's life satisfaction. Based on the findings, suggestions for social welfare policy and practice to improve community-residing elderly's life satisfaction considering the gender difference were discussed.

  • This study aims to analyze the relevance between oral health practices and oral discomforts of the elderly in an urban-rural area by surveying the elderly in welfare centers for the Elderly-continued oral health care program. The result shows that the elderly brush their teeth under regular oral care, and practice oral health life by scaling for the prevention of periodontal disease. Most of the elderly who drink alcohol have experienced implant care and tend to quit drinking after the treatment, and seemed to get their oral discomfort relieved. However, no relevance is found between implant experiences and social discomfort. Furthermore, the elderly who had bad breath expressed pronunciation, taste, pain and chewing discomfort, and social discomfort (P>.05). The educational level of the elderly did not have an impact on oral discomfort, but smoking, chewing and bad breath discomfort seemed to be related to social discomfort(P>.05). Therefore, since oral discomfort of the elderly causes social discomfort which decreases their quality of living, we recommend oral health departments of local governments to help the elderly maintain happy lives by continuing to study the practical use of reducing oral discomfort.

Results: The fit indices were found to be CFI = 0.912, GFI = 0.948, and RMSEA = 0.082. Regarding the path coefficients, the path coefficient of the pathway from the age of the youngest child to the father's parent positivity (0.08) and the path coefficient of the pathway from the father's parent positivity to child-rearing participation (0.19) were both at statistically significant levels. Also, the father's return-home time and the working hours, which were considered as disincentives exhibited a direct effect on child-rearing participation without being influenced by the father's parent positivity or parent negativity. The path coefficient of the pathway from return-home time to child-rearing participation was -0.43, and the path coefficient of the pathway from working hours to child-rearing participation was -0.13. The value of the path coefficient expressing the relationship between the return-home time and working hours was 0.80. Conclusion: Authors infered that it'll be the basic material to build a generation mechanism about vanity and father's child-rearing participation appropriately as a result of this research.

This research employed quantitative approach. The quantitative research used the samples of 853 disabled people who had finished vocational training programme during recent 3 years. In this research the effectiveness is categorized into two ; product effectiveness and employment effectiveness. Product effectiveness is influenced by the kind of train-center, train-area, train-length. The KEPAD, non-IT job area and train-period over 6 month are more effective. Employment effectiveness is significantly influenced by demo-sociological factor rather than disability factor. Especially the kind of train-center is very important to be employed for the disabled. This implicates that choice of train-center by the disabled and effective management of it by the public sector is very important in developing employment. Effective management, stated above, includes reengineering programmes and functions accountable to the need form the trainee, bridging the gap among train-centers in terms of performance, differentiation of financial support according to the product to save the public fund, encouraging one special programme in one train-center.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the outcomes and the influential factors that predict outcomes of Personal Assistance Services (PAS). A phone survey was conducted with 201 people with severe disabilities who used PAS services through 10 Centers for Independent Living. Participants reported an increase in subjective health perceptions associated with use of PAS. Participants also reported increased psychological self-reliance as a consequence of using PAS, and high satisfaction with PAS in general. Additionally, the participants reported increased active participation in their communities, increased employment, and high self-confidence in getting or maintaining jobs as outcomes of PAS. Among influential factors predicting the outcomes of PAS, high monthly income and more mean hours of for PAS were positive predictors of psychological self-reliance. Younger age, lower income, and longer duration of service were positively associated with community participation. Longer duration of disability and service use were positive predictors of employment status. Less severe disability and high monthly income were associated with higher self-confidence related to getting or maintaining a job. The results highlight the importance of ensuring the availability of PAS to all Koreans with disabilities who are interested in these services.

Results: Obstacles to the present execution of the home-based cancer patient management project were identified. Some of them are : (1) patients' low trust in cancer patient management by local health centers, (2) absence of programs customized to local communities, (3) lack of personnel and vehicles for home-based cancer patient management, (4) lack of education program for personnel in charge of home-based cancer patient management, (5) problems in public health doctors, weak connection to private medical institutions, (6) absence of medical institutions and hospice facilities for cancer patients, and (7) non-standardized volunteer workers, so on. Considering all these problems, some effective management methods are proposed. The basic concept is to keep the autonomy and variety of the local helath centers. And based on this concept, three models of (1) public health center controlled model, (2) medical institutions and hospice facilities-entrusted model and (3) medical institutions and hospice facilities-cooperative model are developed. Conclusion: By adopting an adequate model among proposed three models, the public health centers are expected to achieve an efficient utilization of material resources and manpower. In addition, by inventing their own programs that are proper for the local societies, they can improve the home-based cancer patient management.
