  • Recently, there were some welfare embezzlement cases of public social workers. The purpose of this study is to explore public perceptions of public social workers by analysing the comments named "datgeul" in the internet media discussion rooms("toronbang") about welfare embezzlement cases of public social workers. The results show that the main discourse about public social workers to perform a dual role as the public servants and social workers on the front line of public social welfare is that they are the victims of both a public official system and welfare administration system. In addition, social workers in public sphere are still recognized as service personnels with sacrifice and commitment rather than as professionals. Finally, the implications of this study were discussed to improve public perceptions of social welfare professionals.

  • Through inductive content analysis, this study sought to examine the crisis experienced by the institution, the quality of service, and the distrust of the system and institution based on the experience of distrust in the home-visiting care service of bbeneficiary and guardians. FGI was conducted on five managers of institutions that provide home-visiting care services. As a result, the central phenomenon was found: deterioration of service quality, distrust of systems and institutions, and difficulties in opera-ting long-term care institutions. In order to improve the quality of home-visited care services and build trust in care workers and institutions, first, home-based associations or operating corporations should develop new education program plans and manuals to strengthen the capabilities of care workers and social workers. Second, the NHIS's monitoring system and the professional management system of care workers should be established. Third, it is necessary to improve awareness of the role, expertise, and rights of care workers, and fourth, improvement measures are required to reduce the turnover rate of care workers, which is the cause of the deterioration of the quality of long-term care services.

  • This study was to investigate the social workers' psycho·social experiences and roles during the end-of-life care process in elderly long-term care facilities. As a result of data analysis through in-depth interviews, social workers experienced great exhaustion and burnout due to frequent death experiences during the end-of-life care process, and expressed regret for not being able to provide better service for the deceased and longing for loved ones. And in the event of a sudden death, social workers would undergo criticism and complaints. The main roles of social workers during end-of-life care were to contact and communicate with family members when signs of death appeared and support them after the death. The necessity of standardized manuals and education for end-of-life care, a recharging program and support group to prevent burnout of social workers, and a legal safety net for emergency preparedness and emergency measures were suggested. The necessity of death preparation education, hospice care, and advance medical directive was also emphasized for the dignified death of the elderly.

Methods: Utilizing secondary data from the sixth Korean Working Conditions Survey, involving 7,628 service workers, this study conducted logistic moderated regression analysis to scrutinize the moderating effects of supervisor support on the relationship between interactive services and presenteeism. Results: Approximately 10% of workers experienced presenteeism in the previous 12 months. Females, low-educated, elderly, those working long hours, and low-wage workers were more likely to perceive presenteeism. Notably, a statistically significant U-shaped curvilinear relationship was observed between interactive service duration and presenteeism. The results also underscore the moderating role of supervisory support in shaping the relationship between interactive services and presenteeism. Conclusion: The study highlights the significance of supervisor interest and support in promoting workers' health, thereby not only improving the wellbeing of individual workers but also fostering organizational productivity by reducing presenteeism.
